car   Windshield Wiper/washer Switch problem of Chrysler Town & Country

The vehicle involved is a 2006 Chrysler town and country. The vehicle identification number (VIN) of this Chrysler town and country is 1A4GP44R76_. The switch that operates the turn signals, the wiper/washer, and the high/low beams fails as such: when signaling left at times the right indicator comes on, and visa versa. When operating the wiper "on" switch, nothing happens until you signal or use the high/low beam part of the switch. When trying to lower my headlight beams the switch will at times fail to lower them until a separate action happens with the switch. All of these failures are sporadic, and will appear apparently when there is moisture in the air through rain or fog. (when you would not want them to happen at all). These are safety recalls I am asking for because the dealership, even though we have an extended warantee says they cannot do anything unless they see it happen. Most of this happens after hours or when the dealership is not open. I have had the vehicle to the dealership on three separate times. A recall would cause them to be obligated to do the repair. After researching this problem on the web have found many 2006 town and country minivan owners have experienced the same issue. Please issue a recall on these. I am sure other years are affected because that switch is widely used. It was Tuesday, Dec. 6, 2011 when this windshield wiper/washer switch issue occurred.

car   Windshield Wiper/washer Switch problem of Dodge Ram 1500

A very dangerous problem with my 2005 Dodge Ram 1500 pick-up is occurring on a daily basis when I use the turn signal - windshield wiper - high beam " multi-switch". When trying to signal a left turn by pushing down on the "multi-switch" lever(left turn signal flashes two or three times then right turn signal activates uncommanded) if I try to engage the right turn signal some times it won't signal / flash at all. My truck only has 46,000 miles on it, not a good testimate for Dodge. I read in a Dodge repair website / forum that a lot of the same problems are occurring with the Dodge ram pick-ups and Mini vans. (all years) is there a recall or will a recall be considered in the near future? ## VIN passed ## Dodge ram quadcab 2005 ##. This problem occurred on Tuesday, January 12, 2010.

car   Windshield Wiper/washer Switch problem of Ford Explorer Sport

The car involved is a 1999 Ford Explorer Sport. Front windshield wiper failure:front windshield wipers fail to work consistently. Wipers come on even though it is set to the off position. Sometimes wipers do not come on when they are turned to the on position. In order for wipers to work consistently they would have to be manually engage with hand and hand has to be kept on the wiper control switch switching it on and off to move the wiper blades. Wipers would come on intermittently while driving. Wipers would act erratically and fail to operate properly 90% of the time. Wipers sometimes would come on after vehicle has warmed up. Wipers can come on anytime while driving. Faulty hood/weak hydraulic arms: the hood cannot safely stay up because the hydraulic arm supports are too weak to hold the weight of the hood. The hood support does not lock into place so that the hood would stay up safely. No safety bar was installed on this vehicle to safely hold up/prop up the hood in case of hydraulic arm/support failure. If the vehicle gets bumped while the hood is up the hood would fall and close shut. Because the hood will not stay up it requires two people when checking under the hood. One person to hold the hood while other is under it. Extreme rust & rust through interior running boards/step both driver and passenger side interior running boards/step up have extreme rust and rusted holes through the frame in many spots. When the driver or passenger side doors are open all rust can be seen. Some rust and rusted holes through the frame in many spots is visible from the exterior even when driver or passenger side doors are closed. car   Windshield Wiper/washer Switch problem of Infiniti QX4

The vehicle involved is a 1999 Infiniti Qx4. This was as close to a disaster as I ever want, the perfect storm in driving. I was driving, with my two small grandchildren in the backseat, at night, in a storm that warranted a severe storm warning. The rain was coming down in buckets as I met another car on a curve. I hit the dimmer switch and my lights went out completely. In a panic, I hit it again and they came back on in full bright mode. The poor driver I was meeting got bright light, total black darkness and back to bright lights so I really owe him or her a lot of gratitude for holding it together too. In reenacting the scene later, I realized that this happened because of a design that should never, never have been accepted. The dimmer switch and the on off switch are one and the same. When I pulled back on the dimmer, all I have to do is lean slightly down and it turns the lights off. If no one has died from this, it is only a matter of time. As an addendum, I would really like to encourage your organization to require that all vehicles driven in the us have the same switched for lights and wipers. It is ridicules to have to search for these in a driving situation. It was Fri., Jul. 11, 2008 when this windshield wiper/washer switch issue occurred.

Left at dealer July 3 - contacted by dealer who said that there was a TSB that they were previously unaware of and that they fixed the problem by "resetting a button". . . We picked up car and 3 miles down the road washer fluid began to spray erratically so that we could not see out of the windshield. . . Washer fluid would not turn off until car was turned off. . . Dealer picked car up again July 6 - contacted by dealer who stated that they had replaced the multifunction switch and that the car was ready to be picked up. . . Picked up car and checked function of the washer fluid - did not work at all. The vehicle is still at the dealer. We feel that these issues are a safety concern because you can not see out of the windown when the washer fluid engaged spontaneously, and the lights are erratic. This windshield wiper/washer switch problem happened on 06/29/2007.

car   Windshield Wiper/washer Switch problem of Mazda B3000

The car involved was a 2000 Mazda B3000. The oil pressure guage has just quit working properly, it will not register when the truck is started, but if I hit a bump or stop the truck and turn it back on, or drive for two miles the oil guage will pop into normal range. The windshield wipers come on by themselves when switch is off, every time I make a right turn, during some left turns, and recently when I am slowing for red lights. The right front tire wore unevenly and caused excessive noise and bumpiness in the first 12,000 miles, it was rotated to left rear and now just makes noise. It was not a 2000 recall tire, but it seems to me that it has failed. (tiresize: 15)( dot number: tire size: 15 ). This windshield wiper/washer switch problem happened on 05/04/01.

During the lemon law final repair attempt, the dealer wrote on work order that they had installed new brakes because they found "after market brakes" on car. The only place the car has ever been serviced was the dealership where we purchased it. We asked the service advisor and assistant service manager (first they said the brakes were thrown out and then they said the parts were shipped to mb) and wrote two certified letters to Mercedes Benz for the removed parts so we could track the serial numbers. We were ignored. The regional representative who initiated the "brake replacement" was conveniently "promoted out of the area" just before the lemon law hearing so he could not be questioned. We had been complaining about the brakes, especially the stopping distance, from the beginning and they kept saying no problem found. The dealer would not document it on the work orders. The failure date was 01/07/05.

car   Windshield Wiper/washer Switch problem of Mitsubishi Galant

I have a 2000 Mitsubishi Galant manufactured in October 1999. The windshield wiper switch lever broke and is stuck in the "squirt wiper fluid" position. I have also had the turn signal switch lever break less than a year ago and paid to have it replaced. Both of these are listed as defects under NHTSA recall 99v305001, but there are no recalls listed. Both levers having broken seems to indicate my levers were defective and should have been under the recall. I have contacted both the dealers service center and Mitsubishi's customer service, but they both told me there is nothing they can do for me. If other cars in the same production run as mine are affected, they could be unknowingly subject to the safety risks listed in the recall. This issue happened on Sun., Jun. 1, 2008.

car   Windshield Wiper/washer Switch problem of Buick Lucerne

The car involved was a 2009 Buick Lucerne. Bought car with rain sensitive windshield wipers 7/09. Replaced windshield with rain sensitive glass 7/10 due to large crack in windshield from a stone or rock. Sept. 2010 I noted that the automatic wipers didn't always come on when it started raining but I could make them work manually in the high speed setting only. When car in for service at gm dealership, they could not replicate the problem, therefore could not fix it. In March 2011, service tech noted that windshield glass was not stamped as gm glass. Said they could not call gm tech support or check the switch until windshield is replaced with oem glass. I elected not to purchase as new windshield at this time. The intermittent wiper problem continued and became increasingly dangerous in ice and snow driving. In March 2012 I had a new windshield installed at the gm dealership. That did not correct the wiper problem. Took car back to dealership and this time they called gm tech support and were advised to replace the motor, which they did. The automatic wipers worked correctly until oct. 2012 when I took the car in for an oil change. I was advised that my windshield wipers needed replaced and I told them to go ahead and do it. Two days later while driving in the rain, the wipers again didn't come on automatically. Again, I could manually swipe the windshield on high speed only. In Nov. 2012 I took car back to service dept at dealership and they could not replicate the problem as the wipers were working correctly on that day. They said they could not call gm tech support for advice. Which leads me to feeling like I'm driving an unsafe vehicle---never knowing if the wipers are going to work correctly. . I am having the car towed tomorrow for the following reasons: 1. Ticking in the engine 2. The check engine light keeps coming on 3. Abs system malfunction light comes on 4. There was an excessive amount of brown "stuff" leaking from under my car yesterday. 5. When I got in the car and cut on the heat, I did not have any heat. 6. The car would not start, three times in a row. . . Then it just started up 7. The car will not allow you to take the key out of the ignition although this is an entry level Jaguar, the car does not have that many miles on it, and it should not be giving me these major problems. . . Especially the same issues over, and over again. It was Wednesday, Apr. 5, 2006 when this windshield wiper/washer switch issue occurred.

car   Windshield Wiper/washer Switch problem of Jaguar Vanden Plas

Vehicle 1996 Jaguar Vanden Plas VIN# sajkx6740tc772406 problem failure of windshield wiper/washer cause broken wire at crimped junction in wiring harness that supplied power to control switch I had hoped to be able to get a photomicrograph of the failed wire. Of the seven strands it appears that 3 or 4 may have been trimmed leaving 2 or 3 strands to carry the current. Adjacent wires show damage from heat. On two wires the insulation is cracked sufficiently so that the wire strands are visible. This harness is subject to various degrees of flexure as the steering column lifts and retracts from the programmed drivers positions. The failure was 2. 1 [55 mm] from the 10 pin connector that is rigidly clipped in place. This windshield wiper/washer switch problem happened on Dec. 16, 2002.
