Front differential failure on a 2000 chevy Astro awd with 63k miles. The total differential rebuild was required due to the bearing failure. I believe this failure could have caused a front wheel lock-up if the problem was not detected in time.

This rear differential unit has been replaced 3 time as a whole unit and three times it was tried to be repaired and the problem still persists. It has started when the vehicle was new(12000) miles,and it is still ongoing. The dealer and the factory has been contacted and are unwilling to help. Please let me know if im the only one with rear end problems on my Astro van,because thats what the dealer and factory tells me!! thank you in advance for your help!!.

Differential unit failed while driving. Consumer intermittently would hear a clonking noise from the rear of vehicle; vehicle was taken to dealer on three occasions, and was informed that nothing could be found. Differential is inoperative, and dealer repaired problem, paid part of the cost.
