The electric windows on my GMC Astro van are failing to go up or down after one use. I put the window down at a toll booth to pay the toll and the window will not go back up. During the cold weather and rain I consider this a safety hazard. Every GMC product I have owned eventually gets this problem.

I did not have brake failure but my van has been in the shop about 11 times for the same condition which is a thumping noise comming from the left front brake the rotors have been changed several times and refaced several times just cant seem to find what is causing the problem.
Power window motor (passenger side) is inoperable. Replaced power window motor on driver side 12/02. Second motor to fail in six month period.
Electric window controls on my 1997 Chevrolet Astro van have started working intermittently. Started happening right after I had a dealership repair the windshield wiper controls pursuant to gm recall. Mostly occurs after window is down, and switch will not operate to roll window up. If I wait a minute, the switch will work, but will only roll window up an inch or two at a time before it stops working again.
While driving at any speed windshield wipers only worked intermittently. When the windshield wipers were turned off, the blades stopped in the middle of the windshield. Also, washer fluid did not eject like intended. There was a problem with the electric windows moving up or down on demand. There were times when the windows got stuck in the up position or in the down positions.
I have 10 vans all with driver side window problems and they all new 2002, chevy Astro vans. Dt.

Power windows on passenger's side went out/failed to go up or down. Took to dealership, and mechanic indicated it was out of warranty. Would not repair it. Passenger side failed in 1999, however was repaired under warranty.
Driver side window will go down but motor heats up trying to go up. 3 of our friends have same issue. Dealer says it is a $250 fix. For a 1999 vehicle this shouldn't happen. Utah safety inspection won't pass this off. If you surveyed Astro owners you would find the same issue.

Automatic window inoperable, due to switch failure. Yh.
Power windows in driver's and front passenger's doors have failed on separate occasions. Dealership has made repairs for both incidents. Please provide any additional information / documentation.
I have a 1996 Chevrolet Astro van. I've replaced the driver and passenger side power window motor's four times, each. Our company has 26 vehicles, all Astro van's and all have the same problem. I just received a recall notice about the wiper motor on this vehicle. The power window motor definitely is more of a problem. I can't believe that there hasn't been a recall. In the winter, you'll being driving, lower the window and all of a sudden can't get it up. It's even more of a problem when it rains. Please check into this. I first replaced the motor on both sides @ 19,000 mile, than 39,000 miles and so on. When I called gm to complain the customer service rep was stone cold; couldn't care less! if you check into this you'll see it's a majpor problem.
