I was pulling s onto hwy 515 from hwy 382 in ellijay, GA when a car hit my drivers side passenger door. On impact, my seat belt buckle broke releasing me into the vehicle causing multiple injurie. I was taken to piedmont mountainside hospital. I had rib fractures; chest wall contusion; severe cervical and lumbar spine sprain;severe whiplash; and left hand laceration. I was prescribed narcotic pain med; muscle spasm med; med for inflammation. Next went to kaiser urgent care for severe back spasms. Muscle spasm med changed to stronger med; again next week changed again. Mom had to come from TN; to stay with me so my husband could work; I couldn't get up and down myself & had to sleep in recliner downstairs in my living room for 3 months. When swelling finally reduced mri showed no spinal fluid from c5-c7 discs; surgery scheduled for may 28 for fusion. May 1, my husband was fired from his job; separation notice stated 'released without prejudice' we no longer had medical insurance; but got it from marriott at cost immediately and had disc fusion on may 28; still in physical therapy. On medical leave of absence Mar 3-July 28; my position at marriott had to be filled I had to await another position, apply for unemployment. Gm would not discuss this defective seat belt issue because the car was totaled and I no longer had it. I tried contacting an attorney, but they did not take my injuries seriously and even though I gave them the exact location of the vehicle and they agreed to do an investigation they did nothing and my car was sold from CO-part. My main concern is that anyone who still has a Chevrolet Aveo know that this happened. Allstate and I have pictures of the damaged seat belt. I have finally recovered enough to go back to work. My greatest fear is that another seat belt buckle in another Chevrolet Aveo could break and someone could get killed.

Driver seat belt buckle froze up and the buckle would not engage. This buckle has exhibited difficulty in the last couple of months. Many times would have to push belt into slot 2x or 3x before the buckle would catch. Never thought it would be a issue. Thank god my daughter wasn't driving to school and the thing locked up or something. Now, it will cost approx. $200 to have just the buckle replaced at the original dealership I purchased it from. All I can say is that there are tooo many problems with the Aveo seat belts starting from 2004. I liked this little car but I am done. I think I'll stick with Dodge. This is just my opinion. Unfortunately, there are over 1800 complaints on this vehicle between 2004 and 2011; the most being 2004 and 2005. I think my issue just slide past them.

The back seat belt behind the drivers seat did not lock up like it was suppose to on impacted, and my cousin hit the back of my seat and blacked out. Also, we hit head on to another car and the only airbag that went off was the drivers side and my husband was in the passenger seat. Luckily his seat belt locked up or he would have hit the windshield.

We purchased this car from a used car dealership this year. The rear seat belts don't extend or retract. There was a safety recall issued on October 15, 2004 (recall # 04v407000). Chevrolet's recall center has told me it's no longer their responsibility to repair the rear seat belts, because although this is a passenger safety concern, this recall item is now in a, "closed" status. My questions is, "really"?! defective passenger seat belts are no longer chevy's responsibility after a certain time period? please look into this and please advise me as to what my rights are as a chevy owner.

At point of collision, neither air bags deployed and seat belt did not work effectively to restrain my adolescent son. If the seat belt had restrained him properly and the air bag had indeed deployed; his teeth marks would not have been embedded into the dash. I firmly believe he and myself would not have suffered the amount of injuries if the mechanisms had worked properly. I had a head injury and whiplash, also.

The contact owns a 2007 Chevrolet Aveo. The contact stated the rear drivers side seat belt would not unfasten from around a child occupant. The more the contact attempted to unsecure the seat belt, the tighter it became around the child. The contact had to cut the seat belt with a knife to remove the child from the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer where the contact was in the process of having the seat belt replaced. The vehicle was not diagnosed for the cause of the failure. The failure and current mileages were 20,026.

2004 chevy Aveo rear seatbelts do not work . Safety recall issued and a guide to repair seatbelts was installed as part of the recall. The seatbelts once again are broken twisted and can not be used! I can sometimes fix one seatbelt but within a week it is not able to be used again! my daughter was squeezed by the seatbelt when I applied the breaks. It was a very tight squeeze but I was able to get out of the car and unbuckle her quickly so she had only very minor injuries. I have had to drive without seatbelts for my children on many occasions or make them both use the middle seatbelt together. We were on vacation and were forced to drive home 12 hours without a seatbelt because of the product defect. It may sound like a simple thing to fix buy buying a new car but I simply cant afford it and I know many 2004 Aveos were produced so please do something so that gm will correct the problem and no child dies as a result of this!.
