I purchased a brand new 2016 Chevrolet Colorado duromax diesel in September of 2016. At 9,638 miles the check engine light came on for the nox sensor. The dealership replaced them but it did not fix anything. As it turns out the issue was a recall which reprogrammed the ecu. They decided to make the tolerances looser on the sensors. At 10,647 miles there was a loud wining coming from the rear of the vehicle. The race to the pinion bearing in the rear differential was pitted and causing the bearing to fail. The rear differential needed to be rebuilt. At 22715 miles the truck would go into reduced power mode which is 25 miles per hour in the middle of the freeway causing other motorists to swerve to avoid a collision. When the truck was turned off and turned back on the error would clear and the vehicle was drivable again. The dealership could not replicate the issue so it took many visits before they replaced the accelerator pedal position sensor. After this did not fix the issue and almost caused another accident the vehicle was taken in and the complete wiring harness was replace. The technician stated that the connectors were improperly crimped at the factory. The truck is now at the dealership again at 26,000 miles to replace the diesel exhaust fluid pump. This fault also causes the vehicle to go into reduced power mode which almost caused an accident again. This vehicle is not reliable, dangerous, and I do not feel safe driving it, especially when my family is with me. I contacted Chevrolet customer assistance team concentrix on behalf of Chevrolet to seek a solution on a brand new vehicle that had major problems. The representative did not care and told me to pursue a resolution on my own.

Rear differential making loud poping noices when engaged. Sounds like metallic metal to metal catching and grinding. Specially when switching from backing up to driving forwards again. Is could result in the differential locking up.
My 2015 Chevrolet Colorado z71 4x4 has a serious, violent vibration at highway speed. The dealership has had the vehicle for going on 40 days. The truck had approximately 24-25000 miles on it and while on vacation in texas while driving the truck on interstate 10 where the speed limit is 80 mph the truck began shaking and vibrating violently. The truck has been at the dealership since September 08, they have replaced the upper right control arm, road force balanced the tires twp times, alignment two times, replaced the tires, replaced the tires and wheels with some from a 2017 Colorado, rebuilt the rear differential, now the rear differential has been replaced with a new factory differential, and the truck still has a serious, violent vibration that makes the entire truck shake. It feels like the truck is going to come apart. Upon speaking with gm in detroit, they tell me they have elevated my concern to their engineering department, whereas the dealership has told me they have been working with gm engineers to fix the truck. The mechanics who have been working on it are concerned with the vibration as well. Gm cannot tell me when or if they can fix this truck or, what is truly wrong with it. I truly believe it is a serious safety issue that the builders of the truck cannot fix it. Maybe a recall is necessary to figure out why this gm truck shakes and vibrates so badly.

Tl- the contact owns a 2006 Chevrolet Colorado. The contact stated that while traveling up a hill during inclimate weather in speeds over 40 mph, the auto locking differential may not be functioning because the vehicle was spinning out of control and there was no traction on the rear wheels. The vehicle was not inspected, diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 120,000. Dyd.

Two times the front differential locked into 4x4 by itself. The truck appeared to slip into neutral and engage into 4x4. The 2 h light was on, not 4 hi. I stopped, pushed 4hi, heard actuator engage, pushed 2hi and 4hi disengaged. This is a serious shock to the whole front running gear, universal s, ring and pinion, and transmission.

2004 Chevrolet Colorado driveshaft and rear differential failed. Consumer states that the driveshaft fell out while backing out of his driveway and then the rear differential failed. He also stated that gm denied the claim. The consumer stated after the repairs were made, there was a loud noise coming from the vehicle when the gear was in reverse. The dealer stated the transmission failed as a result of the drivetrain failure.
