Tl the contact owns a 2011 Chevrolet Equinox. While driving 20 mph, the engine stalled. The dealer and manufacturer were not notified. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was 122,000.
Vehicle has been meticulously maintained. Engine started to stall while driving, then would not start. Warning lights did not appear until after the vehicle would not start. Said engine underpowered. Had it towed to mechanic, who found there was no oil in the engine, even though no lights came on and we checked the oil 3 days earlier. Had the car towed to the dealer. The dealer said the engine needed to be replaced, but repairs should be covered under a special coverage warranty issued by gm. Gm denied coverage with no explanation sent to me. I called customer service to file an appeal, and was given a file number and told someone would contact me within 2 business days. Despite almost daily follow up calls by me for a month no one has called me back. Each time I am told it the case is being handled by a senior advisor and that the operator was not able to contact them and they would call me back. I asked for the case to be escalated to a supervisor, and after 4 times was told it had been, but when I called back to see why no one had called me back was told that the senior advisor was still assigned to the case. This is a very serious safety issue, with the engine stalling while still in motion, with no warning, and is caused by a known manufacturer's defect and should be part of a recall, not "special coverage".
Engine stalled out while driving and almost caused accident. Timing chain slipped and ruined my entire engine, no warnings, no signals or none of any kind. Reading alot of complaints about this same problem and there should of been a recall on this 2. 4l engine from gm a long time ago! maintenance has been maintained and up to date since car was first driven off lot.
Engine stalls while slowing or after coming to a stop. Restarts once placed into neutral.
The contact owns a 2011 Chevrolet Equinox. While stopped at a red light, the stability control, traction control, and check engine indicators illuminated while the engine stalled. The vehicle was able to restart. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 90,000.
Vehicle engine stalled while the vehicle was in motion at 35 mph resulting in impaired steering ability, and loss of vehicle control in a road curve. A crash was narrowly avoided. No warning light or operator notification was present prior to the incident. Odb scan codes indicated a p0010 code ¿camshaft position actuator solenoid valve¿. Vehicle stalled while vehicle was in motion on at least 5 other occasions returning vehicle to dealer for service. Service history indicates the intake camshaft solenoid was replaced under warranty in 2011 due to identical failure mode and fault code, the exhaust camshaft solenoid failed with code p0011 and was replaced under warranty in 2015, and the intake camshaft solenoid failed again in 2016 at 34,681 total vehicle miles. Vehicle has been operated in nominal city driving conditions with consistent maintenance of the oil and oil filter per the oem oil life monitor. The third failure of the camshaft solenoid was charged at customer expense. Repeat failure of the camshaft solenoid actuator indicated an unmitigated product design issue resulting in engine stalls without warning while the vehicle is in motion and impaired steering control.
I have had problems with my 2011 Chevrolet Equinox since the day I got it but yesterday was the worst. The engine all of a sudden stalled on the highway and I had to pull off the road. I just had it in the shop last week and had the fuel pump and timing chain replaced. I was able to get my car home only able to drive 40 mph. This morning I was going to try to get it to work to be closer to someone who could check the code out on it but as I was going down the road it completely stalled out and I barely got off the road before the engine cut out all together. I have read numerous forums of customer with the same vehicle having the same problem. This is a safety issue and gm needs to address it. The shop is saying that if it's the fuel throttle body which is what I suspect they will not cover it under warranty. From what I understand there was a bulletin put out on this issue and it was covered for awhile on the powertrain warranty but they pulled the bulletin and no longer cover it. I need help. Gm knows they have issues with this vehicle but they will not do anything about it.
This vehicle uses about 1 quart of oil per 1000 miles. With no warning from manufacturer or dealer and the recommended oil change at every 4 to 5 thousand miles, the oil level is gone by the time the oil change is due. This repeated action causes the cam position sensor to sludge up and become faulty. This in turn causes the motor to stall. There have been many complaints of the engine stalling on the highway. Mine has stalled many times in city traffic. Due to my driving skills I have avoided any accidents. It is only a matter of time before there are deaths attributed to this issue. Although the manufacturer has been aware of this problem since 2007, it has not even gone as far as installing a low oil level sensor to help prevent this from happening.
Took my car in for service because the car was shaking, and rattling while driving, loss of engine power. Eventually the engine stalled and stalled several times upon restarting the engine. The service team said they needed to replace an O2 sensor. Since then the car is still stalling and riding rough but does not happen as often. Service department keeps telling me they are not able to ?reproduce the problem?. So far the car has stalled on me 4 times in less than a week after being the in shop twice for the same problem. A car with less than 45,000 miles should not be doing this !! this poses a danger to the public and my family if it stalls and I am unable to get the car off the road in time to avoid an accident.
The contact owns a 2011 Chevrolet Equinox. The contact stated that the engine stalled while driving 70 mph. The dealer replaced the camshaft position sensor and the electronic control module; however, the contact was concerned that the failure might recur. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure and current mileage was not available.
The engine stalled during operating, this is a brand new car just around 24,000 miles.
While waiting on red light with foot on the brake the car started stalling, loosing rpm and engine stopped. I started it again and released the brake and pushed the gas slowly to get thru the intersection and the car began loosing rpm again and almost stalled again put me and my baby in very dangerous situation in the middle of the intersection. There is obviously some serious problems with the chevy Equinox engine and gm has to take this matter seriously before somebody gets killed on the road or cause chain accident because engine stalls.
Engine has stalled multiple times upon acceleration. Very concern for our safety!.
Engine stalling problems, vehicle towed car had recall for problem. Rpm`s go up and down at idle still still hesitates every once and awhile has engine knock at start up dealer cant reproduce, been thru one gm buy back on chevy malibu with steering problems, and engine knock. This was a four cyl. And the Equinox is a 4 cyl. To. Think the engines r the same in both cars . Seems to me like gm has big problems with this engine design.
