"takata recall" my vehicle is have problem with oil consumption, exhaust fumes coming out of the heater and a rattling noise. I took it into the shop in the car mechanic informed me that that the problem is not worth fixing because the year make and model keeps giving problems. He said he worked on the same type of vehicle multiple times in every 2011 chevy Equinox has had the same problems. He said it's not worth putting the money into and that that year was a faulty car and to find out if there was a recall because of the negative reports. I looked online no recall so I'm wondering why multiple vehicles are having the same situation. He said he spoke with my car dealership and they said that this problem is very common. And just today my vehicle engine started smoking. I'm working on getting a problem.

Since I purchased the vehicle in September 2014 I have had three instances where the car has stalled while driving. Twice it was related to cam sensors and a check engine light came on. This most recent time on 1/5/2018 the car was idling funny and stalled out no lights on dash. I just got an oil change one week prior. As I was trying to make it to my mechanic I heard an awful noise from the engine I had never heard before. I just barely made it to the mechanic. It stalled at every red light on my way there. . . . But when I got there and they hooked up the computer without a check engine light on a message popped up on the dash that said low oil pressure. I had only one quart of oil in there and like I said I just had the oil changed one week prior. In the past I had taken it to valvoline in between oil changes for top offs because that ticking/rattling sound when the oil is low was happening. They recently told me the Equinox is notorious for high oil consumption and owners are hoping for a recall. I have consistently looked for leaks because that seems to be my luck with cars. I never saw one until the other day and it appears to be a rear seal as it leaks almost at the rate of an oil change drain, but I wont actually know for sure until they take the engine apart. I am beyond frustrated because of course my warranty on the vehicle was up about 3500 miles ago and this is clearly a very expensive repair that isnt at the fault of the driver but rather the manufacturer. Additionally, Im driving a newborn and two other children around in a car that will randomly stall or potentially combust due to engine failure as a result of lack of oil with no warning from the computer system in the vehicle. This has happened in the vehicle multiple times in 3 years roughly every 25-30k miles.

Chevy Equinox 2012, but the truck a month ago, notice a rattle noise on the engine, after a month +1000 miles driving, need to add 2q of oil, today 7/17 has no oil. Take it to sierra Chevrolet on monrovia, the person on service department, mention that I need to pay $150 for diagnostic the problem, + need to pay 3 oil change to see if this truck has the issue mention on bulletin: 13-06-01-003f. Why I need to pay for something that is not my fault. Defect of manufacturing. Motion.
Engine has always made a rattling noise which now I believe loose/worn timing chain. Last week the Equinox was stalling at stop signs. It will start right back up then die again. Once it's takes off it runs fine. We took it to the dealer, they said there were 2 codes. 1 read engine misfire other read intake cam valve actuator (something). The dealer cleared the codes (charged me for clearing codes) and then said there was nothing wrong with car and sent me on my way. Couple days later it dies 3 times in a row at stop. The check engine light comes on and stays on for one day. Next day check engine light goes off and vehicle runs fine. Later that day it dies at stop. I call dealer to get another appointment and they say without check engine light on or it dying for them there isn't much they can do. Do a quick google search of Equinox timing issue and this is a very common issue. Of course now it is 3 months out of the 5year powertrain warranty. I have read where there is an extended warranty for this issue. I have a feeling I'm going to be forced to take it to another dealership after they do nothing for it and charge me to clear any codes.
Chevrolet Equinox 2011 uses excessive amounts of oil. I have to add oil between oil changes. I keep extra oil on hand always. The car makes rattling noise at start up and just doesn't sound good when running. It runs sluggishly. I wasn't aware of the problem. I only had to add oil between changes to my previous car when it was leaking on the ground. I went to have oil changed and there was none on the dipstick. I had no idea. When I add oil the rattling seems to go away for a while. I can't afford to buy another car or replace the motor if the oil consumption causes the need for that.
When the vehicle starts in the morning for the first 15-20 seconds you could hear a load rattling noise then the noise goes away. I had change the oil from synthetic to regular 5w30 because when I drained the crank case the only thing I had left was 1. 5 qt, im trying with the regular oil to see what it does . I hear that many Equinox owners have had the same problem with oil consumssion. I would like to reported ,maybe its a problem among these vehicles owners.

Bought vehicle used with about 30k miles on it, at first oil change was told oil was low, this continued over the next several changes, a few times it was found to be completely out of oil, no oil leak was found, at 39k miles balance shaft chain had to be replaced, at 55k miles my check engine light came on and my car almost cut off on me while I had my infant son with me, the cam shaft had to be replaced, 56k they replaced pistons, rings, fuel pump, and timing chain due to using excess oil, a few months later my air compressor had to be replaced and now my transmission is leaking. The car has a little over 70k miles on it. Also have been complaining of a rattling noise coming from the engine since I bought the car, I was told several times by the dealership that this was normal however I was told by someone at the Chevrolet home office that this was not normal, I also drove another Equinox while mine was in the shop being repaired and it did not make this noise. Dealership has be notified of all issues with the vehicle as well as the home office for gm.
Equinox with 4 cylinder engine has not worked properly since purchased in July 2011. Engine made loud noise each time started. Returned to dealer several times for problem with no results. In may 2013, engine stalled several times and engine light came on. Dealership replaced cam intake but will not guarantee that future problems may occur. Additionally, this vehicle currently has another issue that may be related to the brake system - whining noise. Dealer has not repaired yet. Will continue to return to dealership repair shop. This vehicle should be recalled.
It started with the check engine light would come on and the stabilitrak light coming on sometimes. And you hear a rough idle. And a horrible rattling noise was coming from the engine while parked and. When I drove the car when accelerating it sounded worse as if I was driving a diesel truck. And the car would stay on for about 2 to 3 seconds after I turned the car off. So I dropped the car off at the dealer they checked it with a scanner and they got the p0172 - too rich error code. And they saw for themselves the car stayed on after turning off the car and the rattling noise it was making. After 2 days I picked up the car coalitionâ??t hear the rattling noise as much. You could still hear the rattling but very slightly the check engine light was off. After a week driving my car you can hear the rattling noise very, very little. They fixed the rattling noise somewhat it was covered ( by power train warranty) however both the check engine light and the stabilitrak light came back on. And the car still would stay on for about 2 to 3 seconds after I turned the car off. And sometimes when I start my car it would rev up has if I step on the gas pedal and then it will drop to normal. All issues were not resolved still having problems with check engine light stabilitrak light on and the car staying on. For a few seconds. After turn off the car. Took it back to the dealership now they are saying they found that it is a problem with the high pressure fuel pump and the body throttle. Not functioning correctly. This may cause gas to leak into the oil. I did some research this is a common problem with the 4 cyl Equinox. The dealership said the repair would not be under the 100,000 mile powertrain warranty.
When starting the vehicle at any time the engine idles very rough and rpms fluctuate significantly enough that it shakes the vehicle. Engine noise is very loud, even for a small direct-injected engine. When driving the throttle is slow or jerky to respond and the engine noise increases. At different rpms a rattling sound comes from the engine compartment, as though something is loose and will fall off. I have had this vehicle at our chevy dealer several times for this issue and most recently for the vehicle not shutting-down when powered off. The high-pressure fuel pump was replaced based on gm bulletin but nothing was done about the loud and obscene engine noise. Dealer stated this was normal operation although bulletins exist in gm system for timing and valve-train issues and repairs. I am concerned that the engine will simply quite one day under normal operation. Planned obsolescence at 100,001 miles? I will be taking the vehicle to another dealer very soon to try an remedy the situation and understand my concern and work with me to correct issues.
When stopped at a stop sign or red light sometimes the engine tries to cut out, and the car jerks like it is trying to stay cranked. I have a friend that has a gm terrain and hers does the same thing. When turning there is a knocking in the steering. The speakers have a rattling sound like they are busted, but it doesn't do it all of the time. I took my car to the dealer, but of course they couldn't find anything wrong with it, the car now has 23,000 and it still hasn't been fixed. (this has been going on since September of 2011 when I bought the car).
I bought my 2011 Equinox in Dec. 2011. About 4 months later when I started the car there was a rattle noise which sounded like the starter is not engaging right. I told my dealership about this but they could not duplicate it. I have read other complaints, so I hope gm will investigate this problem. I hope this does not mess up the engine. I have been driving 46 yrs & never have had this problem before. [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
