Starter problems of the 2000 Chevrolet Impala
Four problems associated with starter have been reported for the 2000 Chevrolet Impala.
Starter problem #1
The vehicle involved is a 2000 Chevrolet Impala. The VIN of the car is 2G1WH55K2Y_. The car has a problem with the passlock/bcm system. I have tried numerous times to fix the problem with the car. The bcm needs replacement it is a very known and common problem that gm is well aware of. The passlock system in the ignition cylinder will either go bad or short out and then the bcm will see it as the car is being stolen and then shut down the fuel injections and the starter preventing the car from being started. I am so sick and tired of doing the relearn of the bcm/igniton so that I can start my damn car. The needs to be a major recall on the chevy line with the pass lock ii system installed in it!!!!!!. This starter issue occurred Jul. 8, 2013.
Starter problem #2
The vehicle was a 2000 Chevrolet Impala. Car randomly doesn't start. When I first got the car(6 mos ago) I replaced the starter having no idea that this has been happening over and over again to many Impala owners if not all of them. Started fine for 2 weeks and it's been happening ever since. Sometimes when the car doesn't start it trips the passlock and I have to wait anywhere from 10 to 30mins before it resets in order to try starting again. I've been driving the car and at quick stops I have to leave it running to be sure I won't get stuck there for 30 mins or so. I've also been stuck at gas stations waiting 10 to 30 mins(at the pump) for it to start again (very embarrassing). After all the complaints I've read I'm afraid to spend anymore money on this problem. This problem occurred on Wednesday, January 23, 2008.
Starter problem #3
The car was a 2000 Chevrolet Impala. I bought a used 2000 chevy Impala for my 75 year old mother in law. The car has a problem with starting and the security module. You can drive the car to the store or where-ever but when you get back into the car it won't start again. You usually have to wait 10 to 40 minutes with key in ignition for car to start again. There are a lot of people out there on the internet with the same problem. We already paid over $700 for a new starter and a new security module but that did not fix the problem. Other people claim they have spent thousands replacing all sorts of items at recommendation of chevy dealerships to no avail. It seems that gm/Chevrolet should institute a recall on this vehicle. It is also a problem in the 2002 and 2003 models of the chevy Impala. This issue happened on Mar. 15, 2008.
Starter problem #4
The car is a 2000 Chevrolet Impala. 2000 Impala, car has died 2 times since purchased 2 weeks ago for no reason while driving. All electrical still works but starter will not engage, after 5-30 minutes of waiting it will start. Chevy dealership says to change the ignition switch sometimes it helps. Chevy knows about this problem but wont do anything it. Also have the turn signal issue where they quit working until you turn on the flashers. Fuel guage doesnt work. All of the recalls have been done to this car. Why wont chevy fix the dangerous one about the car stalling at freeway speed and loosing the power steering and power brakes do to a stalled engine. 119000 miles on the car. This starter issue occurred Fri., Jan. 28, 2011.
