Vehicle was in motion in the middle of a very busy intersection, thank god it was at night. The car started violently shaking and the display put up the warning "low engine power" and "service traction control". Has happened numerous times before when the car was parked but never while driving. Check engine light comes on for a little bit but then usually goes away after a day or so.
2007 chevy Impala will have the engine shut down. The warning "engine power reduced" "service traction control" will come on, along with the check engine light. You cannot accelerate, the car shakes, and is difficult to drive. Had the gas pedal and the equivalent part in the engine replaced (at different times) and had the codes come up in between the parts being replaced and still now. Took it into a chevy dealer and it doesn't act up for them. And for whatever reason their computer doesn't show any problems. There are many complaints about this on different websites. I called gm and have a case opened to get help from them. It's extremely scary to have the engine power reduced while driving and it's very dangerous because you can't maneuver or accelerate.
While driving my vehicle, the traction control light and check engine light came on. . . Then a message stating "engine power reduced" came on. My car dropped the speed from 60 to 20, on the highway. It happened again a month later and I was told that my accelerator pedal needed to be replaced. This happened again in March of this year, and I was told my fuel pump had gone out. Now it has happened again this morning, and the mechanic doesn't know what's wrong with it because it happens intermittently so he can't diagnose it unless it does it while the car is in his possession.
While driving car started to jerk and hesitate the check engine light came on along with a message of reduced engine power. Could not drive the drive over 5 mph. Was able to get to the side of the road. Had to push the car into a parking lot as the engine will no longer start but cranks over fine. Had to buy a scanner to read the code because the car was not able to drive to a auto repair shop or auto parts store to read the codes. The po641 code was set. Checked and tested the sensor wires for the 5volts every one that I tested showed ok. Replaced the gas pedal assemble because of the code that could be a source of the problem no difference. Cleaned the throttle body unit no change car will not start. Checked and gave all the wires a good pull and or tug to wiggle the connectors and took apart all sensor connections no corrosion was found. All grounds appear to be good. No broken wires are found no blown fuses were found. After 2 days was able to start engine with the message reduced engine power and car died again and would restart but not idle. Was able to rev engine and keep it running but once it idled it would die and sometimes not restart again. At this time car is unsafe to operate on any roadway because it might die and random times.
Tl- the contact owns a 2007 Chevrolet Impala. The contact stated while driving 30mph, the vehicle loses power and the check engine light and service traction light illuminates on control panel along with jerking in the process of accelerating. The vehicle was taken into the dealer a diagnostic test was perform, the dealer stated that the cam shaft actuator needed replacing. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage 138,000. Lnc.
I was driving to work and a message popped-up "reduced engine power" my speed was quickly reduced from 45 mph to 20 mph. I immediately pulled over luckily I was not hit by another vehicle. The check engine light remains on in the vehicle. I had the vehicle diagnosed and was told the throttle sensor need to be replaced. This is a dangerous issue that gm need to address. Numerous of Impala owners have filed complaints, but have been ignored. I feel as though gm should recall the vehicles and fix the defects. . . This is putting me, my children, and many others at risk. Please help with this issue.
The first instance I was driving and the "service brake system" flashed on the display. I had all brake pads replaced at dealer on 1/3/2013. 2/7/2013 I was in traffic and the car suddenly slows to about 10 mph and would not accelerate the dash then displayed "reduced engine power" and the check engine light came on. On 2/14/2013, I had the throttle positioning sensor replaced and at the same time had the rear defrost wiring repaired because that had not been working for over a year. On 3/4/2013 the car would not start by the factory remote start, so went out and started the car with the key, when I returned to the car the vehicle would not start at all the chime would sound the lights on the dash flashed but no start. I waited a few minutes then tried again, the car started briefly (50 seconds) "reduced engine power" appeared on the dash then it shut down completely. I looked under the hood saw the battery attachment was loose, tightened that up and then the car started up. However, the car radio (factory radio never replaced), the chime, or the ticking of the turning signals no longer work. I have an appointment with dealer on 3/14/13, but the car seems to be failing all around. In reading chevy/gm forums, there are thousands of chevy owners experiencing these same issues, chevy/gm needs to take ownership and investigate these vehicles to determine the root cause of the problems. Nearly 3000 dollars later in dealer repairs is not getting to the bottom of the issue. I was nearly in a crash due to the reduced engine power issue and that was scary enough to make me not want to drive this car or an at all.
Tl- the contact owns a 2007 Chevrolet Impala. The contact stated that when she started the vehicle, she received an illuminated message stating that the engine power was low. Later the check engine warning light also illuminated. The manufacturer was notified and advised her to take the vehicle to a dealer. The vehicle had not been diagnosed or repaired. The failure and current mileage was 36,000. Kmj.
I am the owner of a 2007 chevy Impala, which is no longer under warranty. (last 8 of VIN #[xxx]) I have had several problems with my vehicle for the past several years starting with the "check engine light. " when I was in school in virginia the light first came on and I took it to a gm dealer in virginia for a week, they said they fixed it and a week later it came back on. I brought the vehicle back and they said they fixed it again, however it once again came back on. This is extremely frustrating because it wouldn't let me accelerate over 25 mph and I needed to get home to new york. Several months later I received the "check engine light" again and brought it to a gm dealer in new york, who supposedly fixed this problem. Last week the "check engine" light came on again with the message "reduced engine power" once again and the car stopped on the highway and shut-off. This is extremely dangerous as I was stopped on a 60mph highway with cars just missing me. I have spent thousands of dollars as a college student trying to repair this issue which still has not been resolved and now has become an inconvenience, a toll on my bank account, as well as a very dangerous safety issue. I am scared to drive my car to work everyday now, which should not be the problem because the engine light and reduced power is still on. I have looked online at several message boards and everyone has said the same thing about this problem. Clearly this is a manufacturing error and as a safety measure gm should really place a recall on this before someone dies or is seriously injured from this. I appreciate your immediate response to this inconvenience and safety issue. Thank you, information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
The contact owns 2007 Chevrolet Impala LS. She stated that while driving approximately 25 mph, the vehicle stalled at various speeds. The check engine light illuminated. Her independent mechanic replaced the cam shaft sensor which corrected the failure briefly, however the failure persisted. She was unaware if there were any recalls on her vehicle. The failure and current mileages were under 56,000.
