At random occasions, the front door latches will not work. Last November, the front passenger door did not open even after attempting to open it manually and using the power door lock switch. This morning, I had two issues with the driver door. First, it would not shut until after I used the button to manually lock the door ("used" meaning I pulled it up and pushed it down several times in quick succession). Then, after I parked my car, the driver door would not open until after pushing the button up and down several times, using the remote a couple times, rolling the window up and down, and pushing the button up and down again. I wonder if humidity and/or moisture may be affecting the doors' ability to function, as it had rained and/or snowed on both occasions; however, the weather has not affected the doors on other cars I have used to such an extent. The issue with doors not opening/shutting as expected has been documented by other 2008-12 Malibu owners on various websites and should be investigated immediately.

The 3rd break light (above rear windsheild) is leaking into my vehicle and trunk. This is a hazard for electrical failure to the break light, as well as the growth of mold and or rust in the vehicle as well as the trunk and spare tire. During rain the passengers become soaked with water.

The contact owns a 2016 Chevrolet Malibu. While driving various speeds, a squeaking noise was heard coming from the rear of the vehicle. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was taken to lou bachrodt Chevrolet pompano beach (1801 w atlantic blvd, pompano beach, FL 33069, 954-590-0196) where the technician was unable to duplicate the failure. The failure recurred several times and the vehicle was taken back to the same dealer. The technician took the rear end apart and lubricated the parts, but the failure persisted. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and referred the contact back to the dealer. The failure mileage was approximately 19,000.
Front passenger door cannot be opened from outside or inside. Had to climb over seat to get out of the back door. Car was in a parking lot.

The car was parked and off in our driveway for 15 minutes -horn started went out saw smoke called 911 and by the time back at front door flames from front end. Fire department came and put out fire -car totaled. Worried about spontaneous combustion especially if car parked in garage or closer to house or if people inside.

I am having difficulty with the latches on my doors. It started with my passenger front door. I would close the door and it would pop open a little and wouldn't close. After a few tries it closed but this would intermittently happen from time to time. Eventually it closed permanently and now will not open at all. It is a safety hazzard that the door cannot be opened. This is now beginning to happen with the driver side front door, where when I close it and it won't stay closed, I have to hold it while driving on occasion. Then it will shut and work and then it will happen again. It is a safety hazard to have to drive and hold the door closed and I cannot imagine having two front doors that won't open. This really has to be addressed immediately.

My vechical was in motion driving thru an entrance to an arby's restaurant . I herd a loud noise n felt like my vechical was dragging with a pulling motion. When I stepped out I walked around to the front n my bumper was completely pushed in and folded into an inwards position. I pulled with my hand from the bottom of the bumper and pulled it out almost in its original position besides some of the plastic peices n fascia being cracked. Well upon further looking at it what had happened was the plate or cover as u will that is supposed to protect underneath the engine and radiator portion of the vechical came detactched from the most inward position of the vechical( the point closest to the center of the car) hit the ground n folded under neath my car smashing in the lower part of my bumper. Once I looked under their this piece is actually connected to the bumper in one piece when it should be detached. This vechical is a very bad design and is extremely low to the ground and what makes this bad is this piece is connected directly to the bumper which was almost completely ripped out in the process. Currently I have this end piece zipped tied to my frame at the point of which it became detached. I approached the dealer about this issue n they laughed at me like I did this when clearly it was from the cover or plate that sits below the engine. This part is a 79 dollar part but they want me to replace the whole fascia n bumper which they quoted at around 1500 dollar. Now if my bottom front hits any driveway or entrance way cause of the two low of a design this part can come detached from the frame and rip my bumper right off causing a major accident or saftey situation. Ty! for letting me voice my concern not sure u can do anything about it. Being knowledgeable about cars which I'm guessing u r it's the piece directly under my engine n I attached directly to the bumper.

3 of the 4 door actuators are failing. This is a huge safety issue as I drive with a 2-year old and cannot open the rear doors in the event of an emergency without extreme hardship in reaching the manual rear door pegs near back of each door. This is a huge complaint on the internet and all are referencing the safety aspects of it which the ntsb is doing nothing and gm is offering to replace at full cost saying until the ntsb pushes a recall that this will rest on the shoulders of the consumer. . The exhaust and power have issues. . . Check engine light is always on and power to system is reduced. Fuel economy has decreased severely. Check engine light will not go off. Exhaust coming from tailpipe even after car has been running awhile. This issue happens when the vehicle is running and operating. Second issue is the trunk latch! the vehicle has an outside trunk release button. When vehicle is completely locked, the trunk will open on it's own! we will come out to the car with the trunk wide open when we know we have locked it completely. Checked, double checked, even triple checked but we will still come out to a vehicle with the trunk wide open! this trunk opening issue happens when the car is parked and off but, locked!.

Passenger door won't open. Door lock goes up und down manually and with power lock button or fob, door won't open. Many reports online of this issue. Definite safety issue in the event of an accident.
Window trim that runs around top pops off around all windows, stayed with the rear driver window, then passenger front.
It is a 2010 Malibu LS. Yesterday when I was closing the driver side door, it would not close all the way from the outside. I looked at the catch and the area midway on the door to see if anything was caught in it or looked like it was missing. I didnt see anything. I got in and shut the door and it closed, but when I tried to open it it would not open. I tried pushing the power lock button inside a few times locking and unlocking and it still does not open. When you pull the ltach on the inside it feels like it is not catching anything. I tried just using the key on the outside and the handle on the outside seems like it is not catching anything. The locks still go up and down, with and without using the remote. Also I noticed that the radio stays on with the doors closed and no key in the ignition. The passanger side and rear doors work fine.
Bubbling/rust spot located near front glass on hood of the car. (only 3 yrs old).
"takata recall": the door lock does not work at times. The door will not shut as well as the door's lock assembly not disengagin. The locking assembly will either not unlock or will not allow the door to stay latched. It happens without warning when moving, stationary, driving on any type of road or parking area. We had davidson Chevrolet in watertown, new york on March 7, 2016 for a seat belt problem and had the door looked at that day. We were informed it would cost over $500. 00 to replace the part. This is very dangerous and I have almost fallen out of car while driving when this has happened. The car was not in an accident and nothing caused this to happen. The last date this happened was 10-27-2016. The first it happened was last year.
Driver door won't open. Right before it wouldn't open, the door wouldn't close. It would just bounce open. Got the door to finally close and now it won't open. Tried unlocking and locking it and nothing. Seen lots of people complaining and having this same issue with their Malibus.
The drivers side door will randomly stay locked even when its not locked. This is a saftey hazard. You cannot open the door from the inside or outside. There is a problem with the lock actuator.
A lady ran a red light and t-boned my chevy Malibu on the drivers side as I was proceeding through the intersection. Airbags did not deploy. My head slammed in to the drivers side window. Drivers side door was smashed in. The car had to be towed because it couldn't be driven. I have a concussion that's lasted for 2 weeks and body pain from the accident. Shouldn't the airbags have deployed?.
The contact owns a 2002 Chevrolet Malibu. Purchased a used 2008 Chevrolet Malibu. Very shortly after I could notice a strong odor of gas coming from the rear of the vehicle after driving it. I took it to a mechanic who removed the fuel tank and discovered that a plastic feed line on top of the fuel pump module had a severe leak. I contacted gm in regard to the fact that this specific issue has been recalled on the exact same year, make, and model as my vehicle. I was told that my VIN was not included in the recall was offered no additional resolution or support. My concern is that the only vehicles covered under the warranty were those bought and sold or registered in "warm weather" states, but kentucky has 100 degrees very humid summers. It's is considered part of the south , a region known for being very hot in the summer. Additionally the driver side door lock actuator and rear passenger door lock actuator do not work under power. The only work manually.

My 2010 chevy Malibu driver side front door will not open. Driver door will not open from the inside of the vehicle after the doors are unlocked or from the outside by pulling on the handle. It does not matter if you unlock from inside using unlock/lock button on door or outside using key fob, the door will not open. Major safety issue in the event of an accident or an emergency, the driver or passengers whose doors are affected will not be able to get out of the affected door. Tried penetrating oil and grease to lubricate actuator and has not fixed problem. Also happens randomly, does not matter temperature or weather conditions. No current recalls out on this issue, and repair costs range upwards of $350. The pull handle inside the car feels like it is not engaging with the components to unlatch the door, and the same feeling is observed when trying to open the car on the outside using the outside door handle.
