I own a 2001 chevy Tahoe that has the brake / abs lights coming on while driving. After learning about earlier recall I took my vehicle into a dealership and told them about the problem. The lights did not come on for awhile but started to light up again. I feel the dealership did a 'quick-fix'. I would like to know why I was not contacted about this recall when I have brought my vehicle in before with a previous recall.

2001 chevy Tahoe lt 4wd, 5. 3l abs brakes activate without warning (intermittently) and when they should not be activating, under 10 mph when coming to stop, increasing stopping distance. Abs light works but does not come on. 96000 miles on vehicle. No corrective action has been taken at this time, as I have been researching possible causes of this problem. While driving a whizzing sound came from the abs brakes. Somehow, the computer for the abs brakes caused a lock up. The cost of repairs was quoted to the consumer as $1,100. Took vehicle to dealer, who indicated that abs brakes needed to be replaced.
When the brakes were being applied, the pedal would travel further than normal. Mr although the problem could not be duplicated, the dealer stated that if the abs light did not not illuminate, then there was not a problem.
