Chevrolet Tahoe owners have reported 365 problems related to air bag (under the air bag category).
Multiple cracks across the dashboard have formed, in some cases completely bisecting the dashboard pieces. I'm concerned that if the airbags are deployed or in the event of a crash these sharp pieces of plastic will become projectiles. I was just quoted a price of $1400 by my dealer to replace the dash, but it seems this is a common problem.

They suggested I call gm in regards to loaner car until parts are available to replace air bags. They state car is perfectly safe to drive. . . Not sure I understand this since it is a recall and several people have been killed and article reads that vehicles are unsafe to drive. . .

My dash board has split from my front passenger airbag to the defrost vent. Dashboard is pulling away and vibrates excessively. There was nor accident or incident. I just happened to notice one day. The date selected is just an guess.
After 5 years of garage kept vehicle, purchased a new car to be kept in garage, only 2 days of having this SUV outside the dash cracks, very disappointed on gm customer service I have 6 yr 100000 mile bumper to bumper warranty. I worry about where the crack is right by the passenger in dash airbag.
Cracks appearing on the dashboard. Tahoe is gently used and garaged. Severe vibrations of the dashboard, when driving, is causing the cracks. The central speaker on the dash also vibrates.
The dashboard of the vehicle cracks in multiple locations to include around the airbag. Should he airbag deploy it will be punctured by sharp pieces from the dashboard. This makes the vehicle unsafe and ithe airbags ineffective should the deploy.
Cracked & broken dashboard vehicle was stationary.

While the vehicle was stationary, the dashboard cracked just above the instrument panel. There are 2 cracks. One is about 4 inches while the other is about two inches. After some research, it appears this is a very common problem with gm vehicles.
I was traveling at about 50 mph on an asphalt road, and for no reason at all, my side curtain airbags suddenly deployed for no reason at all. . The road had no potholes, and my vehicle had not veered from the road. I could not see the curb because once inflated, the airbags would not deflate and it was very difficult maneuver my vehicle out of traffic as I could not see from any of my side windows. I ended up hitting the curb at about 40 mph, and flattened both passenger tires and severely denting both rims as well. Had a more unexperienced driver like my daughter been driving at the time, this malfunction could have easily cost us with her life. I was on a smooth road, traveling in a straight line, in very light traffic. There was no reason whatsoever for these airbags to deploy! I spoke with my local dealership and after giving my VIN, they told me that there was a recall on the side curtain airbags, but that it wasn't technically a recall yet, because they have yet to find a solution to the problem. However, when I speak to corporate, they completely denied any knowledge of anyone ever having such a problem. Yet when I look online at Tahoe forums, the number one complaint that I see on every single site, is that the side curtain airbags deploy for no reason at all. . .
The 1st crack is at the upper left corner of the passenger air bag. This appeared roughly 2 years into ownership. The 2nd crack is to the left of the instrument cluster, starting at the front closest to the windshield and moving back toward the hump of the cluster closest to the driver. A 3rd crack has appeared, branching off the second crack at the instrument cluster pointing towards the drivers window. Those cracks appeared about 3 years ago. This product is defective. The vehicle has been kept under shaded carport or in warehouse most of it's life.
Dash has cracked in (2) places that could cause safety issues with air bags if bags were needed to deploy. Vehicle has 38k miles and has always been garage kept, so sunlight damage and armor all protectant are not the problem.
Cracked dash near airbag. Cracks appearing along dashboard. If airbag deploys, sharp plastic shards will be propelled at high speeds.

I attempted to trade in my truck and was told that since my car has an open recall, the value is greatly decreased. Why is the governement allowing me to drive a vehicle that could potentially cause me harm and not properly protect me in the event of a wreck.

I read the article on the air bags and do not want any serious problems. What are my options for repair?.
The dash in my car cracked for no reason. What concerns me is that the crack is next to the airbag on the passenger side. If this airbag were to deploy it could cause the broken pieces of dash to turn into projectiles causing a dangerous if not deadly injury. This vehicle has never been on anything but smooth paved roads. The vehicle only has 61,200 miles on it. We were on an interstate when this occurred.
Side rail airbags deployed while I was driving on a city street without any impact.

Dashboard cracked on instrument panel and by passenger airbag causing a terrible rattle.
Dashboard is separating and rattling near passenger airbag.
The dashboard has cracked over the airbag and if the airbag deploys there will be shards of plastic propelled as shrapnel throughout the car. The crack appeared after using the defrosters on a cold day. There was no impact to the dashboard nor any weight placed on it. It was just a "crack" sound and it appeared.
