Chevrolet Tahoe owners have reported 71 problems related to air bag (under the air bag category).
Dash board is cracking for no apparent reason. It has cracked on the drivers side as well as around the area where the air bag is kept. My fear is that because of the cracks the air bag could possibly deploy with no warning while driving and cause me to have accident or to cause an accident. There have been numerous reports on the gm model 2007 - 2014 Tahoes, yukons and trucks that the dashboards are cracking in the same areas on all of the vehicles around the air bag.

2002 Tahoe lt was traveling south on two lane road when right front tire hit soft shoulder. Car left road and traveled about 200 feet before hitting a power pole. Car struck pole just behind left front tire. Impact sheared the pole off and the car rolled onto driver's side, then slid about another thirty to fifty feet. No airbags deployed. Driver struck face on steering wheel, cutting forehead and received other facial injuries. Left leg was broken in four places and driver was pinned in car for one an one half hours. The vehicle was a total loss.

Dash around airbags is cracking and failing. It's a very common problem and gm refuses to rectify. Conceivably a piece of dash could break off during an airbag deployment.

Dash cracked where the passenger air bag is located. I fear that the air bags will puncture if deployed or the passenger wil be injured due to dash pieces being projected at them.
I have a crack in the corner of my airbag. After research I have noticed that there are many people complaining about cracks in their dashboards either on the corner of the airbag or steering column. There has also been a facebook page started about this problem. It is gm yukon and Tahoe cracked dashboards. Looking at all the pictures posted there is a bit shocking. You can not tell one picture foe another because they all are cracked in the same spot. After contacting gm I was told they have many complaints daily but gm will not issue a recall in the dashboards. My concern along with many others, is if this could some how affect the performance of the airbag. I currently do not allow anyone to ride in my front seat out if fear of the airbag.

Noticed two sizeable cracks in the dashboard, one of which is right near the airbag. I researched the issue and noticed there are several other Tahoe owners that are experiencing the same thing and that it is a defect in the dashboard. The cracks seem to be getting bigger and I'm concerned pieces of the dashboard will splinter creating flying projectiles if the airbag were to ever deploy.

Dash cracking could cause damage to airbag and sharp shrapnel if airbag deploys.
The right side of my dash at the pass. Air bag cracked about two inches well driving down I 95.
Car has cracks in dashboard with loose pieces of plastic around airbag. Worried that if the airbag deploys, pieces of sharp plastic could injure someone.
While vehicle was etting still not running, not in use. Vehicle was setting in my driveway, weather was around 45-50 degrees and the dash cracked in 3 spots, 2 spaces above the instrument cluster and one over the air bag area. , I have did extensive research on internet and verified that there is several cases of this happening in this particuler make/model and year of vehicle. If there was an accident the material from the dash cracking could cause cuts/or extensive wounds by producing flying debis from the air bag going off since the dash is cracking over the air bags. I have contacted gm/Chevrolet and had the vehicle inspected per their request, they didn't admit there wasn't a manufacturing flaw but they denied repairing the vehicle stating that I wasn't the original owner even though I bought gm dealreship. The service department where the vehicle was inspected verified the cracks in the dash and they were very large.
My dash board is cracked over the instrument cluster, and around the passenger air bag. The instrument panel crack appeared right at 42,000 miles, and the passenger air bag crack happened at 51,000 miles. My chevy dealer says it is "cosmetic" so they will not cover any of the repairs, even though I am still under the "certified pre-owned" warranty. But it's going to be more than cosmetic if that air bag ever goes off. It is going to send plastic shrapnel every where. The dealer quoted me $900 to replace the dash, and says they would be putting the same dash back in, so it would more than likely just crack again. I am on a face book page (gm yukon and Tahoe cracked dash) with 576 members that have the exact same problem. Something needs to be done about this.
I got into my car at 1pm and found a crack above the instrument panel and another where the airbag should deploy on the dashboard.
Gapping crack that runs into air bag area, the exact same as the thousands of people who have also had this issue - google search gm yukon and Tahoe cracked dash groups.
I am concerned about the safety during a collision or airbag deployment from sharp plastic exposed due to the cracks in the dash cutting the airbag or shards of plastic becoming projectiles potentially causing injury to occupants. The dash in the truck cracked out of no where and is very poorly made. This should be replaced ASAP by automaker.
I noticed a crack in my dashboard going to my air bag on the passenger side. The crack in the dashboard could possibly alter the deployment of the passenger airbag and has compromised the integrity of the dashboard as a whole. There have since developed two additional, larger cracks in the dashboard, furthering the dashboard integrity problem. I have reported this to chevy and gm and they both refuse to accept that this is an ongoing problem. Several hundred people have reported this problem (and countless, unknown people have not reported it, or don't know how to, or where to report it, or who to report it to. ) both gm and chevy refuse to put anything in writing and will only discuss the issue over the phone and have told customers they will not replaced the defective dashboards for free. This is a safety issue and it is an ongoing issue with gm trucks (1500, Tahoe, suburban, yukons, etc. ).

Dash is briddle and cracked around airbag, might cause a price to be broke off and projected into my wife or kids face causing death.
My vehicle have several severe cracks in the dashboard from poor quality materials. This defect is causing concern about the safety during a collision or airbag deployment from sharp plastic exposed due to the cracks in the dash cutting the airbag or shards of plastic becoming projectiles potentially causing injury to occupants.
My dashboard had cracked in 2 places. One is right next to the airbag and its forcing the whole dash to shake. I'm hoping the cracks don't affect the airbag if it's ever needed. I have read thousands of complaints about the Tahoe dashboard cracking. I'm wondering why their isn't a recall on this piece due to them all cracking by the passenger airbag.
My dash board is cracked in multiple places. I am concerned that this could affect my safety, as well as the safety of my passengers, should the airbag deploy. There is no reason that the dash board should have cracked.
Two cracks have appeared in the dash, one of them is on the right side passenger side where the air bag is the second one is driver side on top. I'm concerned that the air bag is compromised, and could be a safety hazard.
Noticed a crash on the dash near the corner of the passenger airbag. Gm defect in the dash material. Could affect performance on the passenger airbag if deployed.
I noticed a crack on the dashboard above the instrument cluster and another next to the passenger airbag. My concern regarding the crack near the passenger airbag is whether this will effect the deployment of the airbag in case of an accident. The crack above the instrument cluster keeps spreading, this concerns me as well since a piece may break off and cause internal damage to the components inside the dashboard. I spoke to the service manager at my local Chevrolet dealership. He admitted that there is a problem with these dashboards and hoped that a recall would be issued by the manufacturer. He suggested I contact gm about this issue and see if I qualify for a "goodwill dash replacement". I sent an email to gm. I spoke to 3 gm reps before I spoke to the rep assigned to my case, gracie. Gracie said that they are unable to provide any assistance under the goodwill program because I am the second owner. I advised her that there are many others that have the same issue. . Read more...
Upon purchasing my 2007 Tahoe used I noticed 2 cracks on dashboard. The one on the passenger side is cracked at corner of airbag which is concerning due to an airbag deployment shards of plastic could be turn ed into projectiles. Noticed there are many, many of the same vehicles with identical cracks and locations of them. Thanks.
Dashboard has substantial cracks at and around passenger air bag. Cracks have subsequently appeared on the dash above the steering wheel. May be associated with inadvertent deployment of air bag causing bodily harm to passenger.
On sept 21, 2012 I was driving home for lunch and after driving for about 10 minutes I notice my radio shut off and on, the power door locks kept locking and unlocking. Also, the gauges on the dash where coming on and off and all the lights inside on the Tahoe where going on and off also. As soon as everything stopped my airbags deployed and hit my face and chest. I remember a cloud of white powder and realized I was still driving. I was able to avoid running into on coming traffic.

My wife was driving down the street at 5:30 am to go to a charity event 5k run. She was going 40mph, on a street that had no traffic on it that early in the morning, when out of the blue, all the side curtian airbags deployed. I contactd gm central office, they did an investigation, then told me that they were not at fault, that the computer on the Tahoe said it was about to be in an accident so the airbags deployed. I told him the computer was evidently wrong since my wife was not about to be in an accident. He said that the Tahoe functioned normally as it should. I asked him again if it was normal for airbags just to deploy on their own with no evidence of an accident and if the computer "said" so, then evidently the computer is wrong and faulty and something needs to be done before someone gets killed. . He said gm will not admit any fault and they will not pay for it. I am seeking legal counsel for a class action lawsuit. If this had happend in the middle of the day on a crowded interstate, I have no doubt that there would have been a horrific wreck and people seriously injured if not killed. Gm needs to own up and take responsibility and do a recall.
Dashboard is cracked on both driver and passenger side near airbags. My fear is that due to that the airbags wont function properly.
Dashboard cracks with sharp edges around airbag causing noisy airbag area vibration and separation form dashboard, it is scary thing to have when my wife or one of the kids in the vehicle with me.
I notice a crack on my dash board in the seam of the air bag front left side- and then inspected the dash board to find another crack over the steering hump of the dash board heading down toward the vent of the dash board. As I researched this issue I have found several owners with the same issue some under warranty and others not. The issue is the dash board is cheaply made and may cause severe damage if in an accident and since it is located near the air bag it could cause injury.
I have read thousands of complaints about the dashboard being cracked. Mine has done the same and I had taken it to the dealer to see if it was covered under warranty and they had told me no because it did not come from the factory like that. I'm thinking well no s!@!, if you have an electrical issue/powertrain issue/engine issue/ etc it's probably not going to come from the factory with the issue. Anyway I am trying to contact Chevrolet to fix the issue and/or put out a recall for the problem.
Upon inspection of the dashboard it has cracked both above the steering wheel on the left side and at the corner of the airbag on the passenger side. I am concerned that if this cracks any worse the airbag may deploy and injure a passenger or it may cause the steering column to malfunction if the dashboard falls. Chevy should be recalling this so that no one is injured.
My acceleration pedal engaged and ran thru center block fence. No airbag on either side. . . . Thanks a lot. . . . . Driver.

There is a very large cracked area on the dashboard on the drivers side near the speedometer area. My concern is that this may some how deploy the air bag or other mechnical instruments in this area.
