Chevrolet Uplander owners have reported 8 problems related to brake abs warning light (under the service brakes category).
Incident 1: tracking pin on driver's side rear sliding door broke, not allowing door to close, had to pull fuses and manually shut, if tried to open now, door falls off track, unsafe. Taking it to the dealership made it worse, no resolution from Chevrolet company. Incident 2: service abs light comes on, brakes pulse, when engaged will not disengage when brakes are released without a waiting period, does not always engage immediately making it difficult to come to a complete stop in a timely and safe manner. Technician could not find issue when I took it in to be tested. (intermittent dash light not showing up when I take it in).

1st the check engine light keeps coming on and when put on diagnostic code came back po463. The van wouldn't pass emissions and when you fill up with has it would say it was empty. There's a loud popping noise sounds like at axle. It does this after you stop at red lights. I was told this had to do with axle and could break and cause fatal accident, the abs light keeps coming on and the braking system scared me to death. The doors constantly chime or ding and the doors will open going down the road. I was so upset because I have to transport my elderly aunt and and two children and before I was about to pay to have all this fixed I decided to check out recall. I am so shocked that you can look this up online and they are 1000 documented complaints on all the same problems but yet no recalls. Is it gonna take people getting killed to do this. Im praying for something less tragic and trying to save these precious lives. There is research and lawsuits that the Chevrolet Uplanders have alot of these problems
from 2005 to 2008 especially with the doors and like me everyone gets annoyed and unplugs them and have to use them manually but why should we when are still paying for automatic doors. This van is
truly unsafe and a lemon. I pray to god everyday to keep me safe while driving and have told my husband if I die while driving this vehicle he should sue!!!.

Service abs light stays on. We have had the van in for service now over seven times for this problem, the last one being today. . . 08/21/2009. It still is not fixed. It occurs when we have three people in the van with the third sitting behind the driver. Numerous sensors, hubs, and wiring harness' have been replaced but the problem is not fixed.
The abs light on the vehicle came on while driving. The light started going on and off regularly so the vehicle was brought in to the dealer for service. The dealer said the front wheel hub bearings needed to be replaced but these were not covered under warranty. Both front wheel hub bearings were replaced at our own expense but then the light started going on and off again. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer and this time they said the computer & wiring system was bad and needed to be replaced. The dealer also indicated that this had been a recurring problem on this model but not enough consumers were affected to generate a recall so we would have to pay for this repair ourselves as well. The dealer has instructed us that it is dangerous to operate the vehicle until the repairs are made.

Approx. May, 2009 while traveling, I applied the brake on my Uplander and the abs light went on. It would not go out unless the vehicle was shut down. The brake feel was hard at first and then it slipped as if I was traveling on snow to keep the wheels from locking. The pavement was dry. This was the first time that this has occurred and I have had it back to the dealer 3 other times since, but they cannot find or fix the problem. I feel that this is a safety issue that gm should address. The current mileage is 77000.
Abs light came on and I took the vehicle to my mechanic because the warranty expired 2 months ago. The sensor had failed causing my abs light to come on. I had to replace the left front wheel assembly just to fix the sensor. It cost me $250. 00 for the part and 120. 00 for labor. I called the dealer and was told that if it were under warranty it would have been covered. I contacted gm directly and tried to plea my case for a refund or a partial refund and was told that because I went to my own mechanic there was nothing they would do. . My vehicle is only 3 years old and has only 21,400 miles. The mechanic said he had trouble getting the part because the vehicle is only 3 years old and this usually doesn't happen.
I have a abs light that comes on for the braking system, it says to have the abs serviced, but the brakes are new, this is a safety issue and I let Chevrolet know about it, but they seem they don't care, they want me to take it in to have it diagnosed to find the problem; when they should cover all costs. This is a 2006 chevy Uplander van, I'm afraid one of these times the brakes wont work and there will be deaths cause to this. Also I have a problem with the power locks, they wont lock sometimes; there is only one key lock on this van and I can't lock the hitch so all the other doors I can manually lock both the hitch stays unlocked. This has become a hassle to lock the doors each time and again chevy wont fix it they want me to take it in to have it diagnosed and it is probably just a toggle switch that is broke, a replacing part that only costs $60. 00. This is a theft issue that anyone can enter my van because I cant lock it. Soon there will be property damage and there will be both a crash and a fire to the van.
The contact owns a 2006 Chevrolet Uplander. The abs light illuminated and the contact took the vehicle to the dealer. She stated that the dealer did not inspect the vehicle, but only attempted to sell her another one. She took her vehicle to another mechanic and was informed that the front struts and rear shocks needed to be replaced, the rear tires were wearing and cupping badly, 25% remained on the front brake pads, 30% remained on the rear brake pads, and the rotors could not turn. The vehicle was previously taken to the dealer prior to the failures because the rear tires were making noise. The contact believes that the dealer knew something was wrong with her vehicle and waited for the warranty to expire. The current and failure mileages were 50,632.
