Chevrolet Venture owners have reported 15 problems related to brake abs warning light (under the service brakes category).
The abs light came on as we were braking. The brakes then started feeling like they were working intermittently. This caused the car to feel like it was not going to stop. We were not even going that fast. We owned a previous 2005 Chevrolet Venture and it had the same problem.

Constant problems with abs/awd system. This van has been at the dealer 13 times and going to be 14 soon for the same issues. In only 18 months. Hubs have been replaced both on my ownership and prior to my ownership. Wiring harnesses have been repaired and the problem remains. Now just driving the abs computer activates, as well as now when you stop the computer keep activating for about 3 seconds after complete stop. Gm has been notifyed and can not respond for 6 days. It is only a matter of time before the system causes a complete brake system failure, will this happen before someone forces a repair? or will it wait until somebody is critically injured or dies? I would like to think that the government could jump in and not waist time doing so. Just on this site it has been documented 20 times, complaint numbers, 80005017, 10002188, 10014288, 10021976, 10040887, 10051990, 10057579, 10064377, 10069872, 10059752, 10083334, 10060961, 10103060, 10105875, 10108658, 10134831, 10135162, 10135981, 10170423, 10183334. The dealer has tried to repair this problem but to no avail.

I own a 2002 chevy Venture and had the problem of abs dis-engaging and the abs warning light come on intermittently at first when the car is in motion (mostly at low speeds) and then permanently. The first two times I took it to the dealership, I was told that there were problems with brakes and tires. I got them replaced and even then the problem persisted. Finally, I was told that the front left hub assembly needed to be changed and it was done at no cost to me (the car is under manufacturer's warranty). During the time the hub assembly was changed, I got an uncomfortable feeling that I was not being given the reason for the abs problem in a straight forward way. I now see that certain Chevrolet vehicles (venture is not one of them) have been recalled for a front end hub assembly problem. The symptom for the recall seems a little different but I would like the NHTSA to investigate and make sure that chevy Venture does not have the same hub assembly corrosion problem. The incident date I mention below is the latest incident date, but I have had the problem at least for the past six months.
The consumer owns a Chevrolet Venture 2004. This vehicle came with defects from the manufacturer. The abs light illuminated. The consumer could hear pumping noises coming off the brakes. There was excessive wheel noise variation when applying the brakes. The first time the consumer took the vehicle to the dealer was February 21, 2005. The abs light was fixed and brakes were fixed. Then April 19, 2005 the vehicle was taken back to the dealer again because the abs light illuminated the brake noise returned. The problem was checked and fixed. Now for the third time on may 25th the vehicle was taken to the dealer with the same problem (abs and break noise). Now for the third time the problem was fixed. The design of the abs on the 2002 chevy Venture (awd) is that the abs is tied to the awd for traction control. The front left and right abs sensors have cracked 4 times in the past 2 years on our vehicle, with the 5th time occurring this month. When the abs sensors (hub assembly) malfunctions, it disengages the awd. While the abs and awd should be tied together for traction control, they should not disengage each other. In addition, there is no warning when the abs malfunctions, and once it malfunctions, it does not stay malfuntioned. This means that the next time you start the vehicle, the abs warning light is no longer on. If you are braking at the time of the malfunction, it is very difficult to stop, which could result in an accident. We bought the Venture specifically for the awd feature, and it is unfortunate that due to poor design or lack of quality control on the part, we do not have the reliability of the awd, not to mention the possible accident(s) that could occur.
Abs/awd disable light comes on. Have replaced left front hub/speed sensor assembly twice. Replaced right front hub/speed sensor once. Parts availability and reliability have been a constant issue. Continuous failures in recent months.
While traveling on highway abs braking light and all wheel drive light appeared on dashboard. Dealership was aware of problem.
The abs light turns on continously. The dealer under gm assistance have fail to resolve the problem over a period of nine month. This Mini van is use to transport my 1 year son, my three year old daugther, and my wife. I am a mechanical engineer and I have asked for engineering assistance on this matter from both gm and jon hall Chevrolet, but the assistance has been denied. Please advised if my family is in any danger if transported by this vehicle under an abs light signal. . The dealer's and manufacture don't seem to be regarding it as life threatning. The system code computer has recorded system failure in its code log. It does not seem to be a light relay getting stuck. Please advise. I am not an expert on this vehicle, but I have enougth technical backgroung to understand that the anti lock system takes over the braking system adjusting fluid pressure to prevent the tires from locking up. An abnormality in this system could cause the braking system not to brake properly when needed. Your prompt response will be appreciate. I cannot get past general motors customer service front.

Under snowy weather conditions abs light illuminated, then the wheels suddenly locked up. This caused the driver to slid, nearly resulting in a crash. Driver felt this vehicle was very unsafe , and small children were aboard.
