Chrysler 300M owners have reported 915 problems for their cars built in the 6 model years listed in the chart below. The chart shows the number of problems reported during all service years for each model year of Chrysler 300M. The 1999 Chrysler 300M cars have the most problems reported (359 problems).
The following chart shows the 24 most common problems for Chrysler 300M cars. The number one most common problem is related to the vehicle's steering (135 problems). The second most common problem is related to the vehicle's air bags (112 problems).

It would not be fair to compare the older model year Chrysler 300M to a new one in terms of the problems reported since older vehicles have been in service longer and more problems should be reported. In order to compare the reliability across 300M model years, we use the PPMY index which is defined as the problems reported per thousand vehicles per Year. A smaller PPMY index implies a better reliability for the model year under study.
PPMY = P / S / Y * 1000
Where P = total problems reported during the life of a Chrysler 300M model year; S = total units sold of the model year; Y = years since the debut of the model year (the age of the vehicle).
The result is shown in Table 3.
Another way to measure the reliability across the model years of Chrysler 300M is to use the number of problems reported during the vehicles' first year in service, as shown in the Table 4.
