Hello, I would just like to take the time to explain the situation with my year 2000 Chrysler Concorde lx. I am a college student and I purchased this car roughly a year and a half ago with 41,000 miles on it. The carfax vehicle report stated that the car had perfect routine maintenance and it was owned by one female owner over the course of its life. After owning the car I now have about 65,000 miles on this car, with perfect routine maintenance. I am experiencing the symptoms of the engine sludge problem that these 2. 7 liter engines experience. My rpms are dropping to low revs at idle, and my mechanic says that the engine will eventually seize while driving. At this point I no longer drive the vehicle and leave it stationary in my parents garage. To replace these engines they cost around 4,000 - 10,000 dollars. That is more than the price of the vehicle itself. There is clearly a defect in the engine design, and any quick google search can show this. There are hundreds upon thousands of complaints online in public forums and engine orientated websites. I only hope that this organization investigates this situation, and takes it seriously.

2003 Chrysler Concorde engine 2. 7 with 74000 miles on the odometer. The engine coolant got mixed with the oil, not even the 100k miles range and now I end up with a $9,000 paperweight! its not fair that the "poor" design and the misleading information on the owners manual ("the owners manual says that you can go 7,500 miles before your next oil change") has such a costly result, $5,000 for the engine replace, and Chrysler is not doing anything about the problem, they're just blaming the consumer saying we didn't take care of our cars! my car has had the oil changed at 3000 miles every time, that's 4500 miles more often than the recommended "safe" distance mentioned on the owners manual! c'mon people this is wrong and you know it place a recall for this engine and keep the reputation you guys work for too long to acquire! love Chryslers but this is a nightmare!.

The motor on a my 2. 7l 2000 Chrysler contour rod bearings went out ruining the motor. The repair would be 3,000. I did not know it was a known incident with these motors that Chrysler uses in this model. The motor went out on a camping trip 180 miles away from home. I left the car at a shop and am currently donating it to charity.
Concorde was in perfect condition. Oil pressure failure (no light, no warning) caused main bearing to break. Only 81,000 miles on car.
My wife was driving our 2000 Chrysler Concorde lx with the 2. 7 liter engine when the engine blow up luckily there was no one in front or back of her when this happened.
The contact owns a 2004 Chrysler Concorde. While driving 60 mph, the engine stopped running. The failure also occurs at any speed and, occasionally, the vehicle will not restart. There are no warning indicators prior to the failure. The contact was driving at a steady pace before shutting off. Oftentimes, the vehicle will start back up or it has to remain parked for 2-3 minutes before restarting. The vehicle was towed to a mechanic shop, but they could not determine the cause of the failure. The failure mileage was 100,000.

The car's engine seized up in traffic, and thankfully someone helped me get it out of rush hour atlanta traffic before there was an accident. But, it certainly could have caused one. Now the motor is shot and the car is undriveable.

With only 53,000 miles, regular maintenance and oil changes my cars 2. 7l v6 engine needs replaced. This has been a problem for many, many customers and while still owing large sums of money on our loans, are stuck without vehicles because of the enormous cost involved in this repair. Having this problem has left our family in a very bad position, and Chryslers failure to act upon it is causing great hardship for many of their customers.

I was just driving one night home from my mothers house and the engine just blew with no warning. I have changed my oil every 3,000-3,500 miles and after reading the hundreds of complaints about the 2. 7 Chrysler engine I am quite displeased that a company can get away with this kind of neglect.
Timing clutch broke. Ruined engine. 100,000 miles. Otherwise in perfect condition. Too expensive to replace with a new engine. Especially with the mechanical history of this specific engine. The only offer I have received to sell this vehicle is the salvage yard. $100 if I bing it to them. $50 if they come get it. This is ridiculous. All other parts in perfect condition.
Stepson was driving car back from toledo ohio area to canton ohio and the engine in the car jerked and then just quit. Car was towed to local dealership and informed this morning that the timing chain had broker and destroyed the engine. After researching this today I find out that there are websites referencing this and many documented cases of this catastrophic failure happening to others. I called Chrysler today and I was informed that they could do nothing since the vehicle is out of warranty and that I was not the original owner so Chrysler could not establish how well the vehicle was maintained.
The contact owns a 2000 Chrysler Concorde. While driving 35 mph, the vehicle lost power without warning. As of January 3, 2008, the dealer or manufacturer had not inspected the vehicle. The contact owns a 2003 Chrysler Concorde. While driving 55 mph, the vehicle completely shut off. After several attempts to restart the vehicle, it operated properly. The current mileage is 65,816 and failure mileage was 12,000.
While driving on the highway; the engine of my 1999 Chrysler Concorde, had a catastrophic failure. There was an incident involving the timing chain that led to a great many failures, top so being the crankshaft, as I was told by the dealership I had evaluate the problem. The engine is the 2. 7l dohc v6 that comes stock with the 1999 Concorde. I changed my oil regularly and never expected the motor to fail at just over 42k miles. I was 400 miles from home when this occurred, and had to wait in a shopping center for several hours until we could arrange a way home for myself, my wife, and at the time my 5 month old daughter.
I was driving along interstate 295 just passing into massachusetts on October 20th 2006 when I heard my engine making horrid sounds, all of a sudden I had no control and instead of panicking like a normal driver and crashing horribly(which would have happened I assure you) I popped the car into neutral, turned off all power and coasted into the breakdown lane(turning with no power is no fun at all). As it turns out my engine had blown up while I was driving which could have killed me and had my 2 week old daughter and fiance been in the car they as well. My mechanic told me that I should not have been able to do what I did but I was lucky and there were very few drivers on the road. I have worked at oil change garages and I do regular maintenance on my car. The fault is with the engine.
