Chrysler Pacifica owners have reported 38 problems related to engine clicking and tapping noises (under the engine and engine cooling category). The most recently reported issues are listed below. Also please check out the statistics and reliability analysis of Chrysler Pacifica based on all problems reported for the Pacifica.
The vehicle has made transmission noises from 11k miles on. They immediately replaced the first transmission, then second one behaved the same. There is a clunking noise when you touch the gas. I filed complaint, took it back in numerous times, they claim "it just does that" now the vehicle is difficult to accelerate in dangerous situations, pushing down the gas, the car does not shift appropriately.

At a stop light in the turn lane I lifted my foot off the brake to drive as the light turned green. I hit the gas and nothing happened. I looked and the screen said to put the car in park. I put the car in park and then the screen said that I needed to stop/start restart the car. I turned the car off and tried turning it back on. There was a clicking noise, the engine would not start but everything else powered back on. I did this a couple of times and every time I tried starting the car there was just clicking and it would not start. I turned the car off again, opened the car door so that everything would power off. I then closed the door and it started back up.
Purchased vehicle in August 2017 and have been experiencing problems since then. Grinding noise started to occur around 1000 miles. It would occur intermittently around surface street driving speeds. Sound appeared to come from driver side. Harder grinding noise occurred around 7000 miles intermittently, with it occurring both in cruise control and out of cruise control. Lurching forward when shifting gears also occurred around the 1000 mile mark. Was told this was "normal". But how can it be normal when the vehicle is brand new. Was told the softer grinding noise and louder grinding noise were both normal and result of power steering. However, I wasn't ever steering when the sounds occurred. Lastly, the biggest complaint is that the car stalled twice around 13,000 miles. Both times at the stop-light (thank god) and accelerating. First time the entire electrical component shut off. Placed the car into park and pushed the "start" button again. The second time the car would not accelerated, instead lurched forward as if we were being rear-ended, made a loud clunk noise and just stopped. Both times no accidents occurred thank god. Regardless, the safety of my family should not at this much risk when we purposely bought a brand new vehicle with all safety features.
Car engine sometimes shuts off when doing left hand turns, the engine looses complete power when this happens. I have to shift the car into park to turn it back on. There are evap codes on but the check engine does not turn on for these codes, smell of un-burnt fuel sometimes makes it in the cabin. Thankfully the stall has not happened with cars coming towards me. The gas cap warning on continuously even though I have purchased many new oem gas caps. This may be related NHTSA campaign number: 04v113000, 06v432000, NHTSA action number: ea06013, I informed Chrysler but they said my VIN is not in the current recalls and was referred to contact NHTSA. My Pacifica has also developed a ticking noise that has reduced the gas mileage and engine power which I believe this to be part of an internal recall which again Chrysler says my vehicle is not part of even though my VIN matches the specifications below: customer satisfaction notification f35 engine connecting rod bearing debris effective immediately, all repairs on involved vehicles are to be performed according to this notification. My vehicle started making a clunk noise from the engine area and stopped shifting out of second gear. I took vehicle in to a repair shop for transmission service and was told by the repair shop that the vehicle is unsafe to drive because the engine cradle has corrosion and has rusted to the point that the engine is about to fall out the vehicle which most likely caused the transmission to fail. This was discovered while my vehicle was being lifted on the hoist. The repair shop said they are afraid to keep the vehicle on the hoist because someone could get injured while underneath it.

I had taken my car in a week ago for an issue with the car making like a popping sound when I turn hard. Well after mechanic drove it and then put it on a rack to take a look underneath and do their inspection they told us we cannot drive vehicle as it is unsafe. The cradle was completely rusted and I could stick my hand in it. At any point in time it could have completely fell off and wrecked my vehicle. It could have been catastrophic. This is dangerous and Chrysler is aware of the issue but refuses to do anything about it. Now we are going to be stuck with the repair bill. I called Chrysler and spoke with an agent named brittney whose only response was I am sorry there is nothing we can do. Even after explaining any type of accident with my children in the car could have been catastrophic. They do not care. Something needs to be done to cover all vehicles. I only have 75,000 miles on the vehicle and the cradle is the only part rusted. Chrysler does not care about any of that just that the vehicle does not fall within the 2004 or 2005 range. Please help something needs to be done before someone loses their life over this issue.
The contact owns a 2005 Chrysler Pacifica. While driving approximately 5 mph and making a left turn, a clicking sound emitted from the steering column without warning. The failure recurred on several occasions whenever the contact made a left or right turn. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic. The technician diagnosed that the engine cradle had excessive rust and was fractured. As a result, the engine cradle needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 137,000.
Loud clunking noise when shifting into reverse from park or taking off from a stop. Once it is in 2nd or 3rd gear you don't feel or hear noise. I figured my motor mounts were bad again (replaced about 4 years ago) and when I checked they looked bad so I took it to a local repair shop. They confirmed they were shot but also said my engine cradle was rusted out and that was why the motor mounts probably went bad so fast. We have had 3 bad winters in indiana and they use a lot of salt. So, I searched the internet and found plenty of similar complaints but Chrysler isn't doing enough to repair or compensate owners for the cost. There is a class action suit filed in ohio that I will try to get on board with in hopes of recovering some costs. I'm afraid to transport my daughter and friends in my vehicle, which is the primary vehicle for our family.
The contact owns a 2004 Chrysler Pacifica. The contact stated that while accelerating, a clunking noise emitted from the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the engine cradle had rusted. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 186,000. The VIN was not available.
I was driving the car to the gas station to put gas in it and the car shut off as I was pulling up to the gas station and there was a car coming towards me and the car had the right of way. I had to literally stop my car and run to the front of the car that was coming towards me in order to prevent and accident of the car running into my car. I know it had enough fuel I keep my tank full and just wanted to fill it all the way up since I had extra funds that week. Ever since the shut off the car had been sputtering and having trouble switching gears. I just purchased this car and it has been a disappointment, one after the other!!!!! then there's an issue with the front end where you hear a popping sound if you should have to unexpectally have to hit the brakes or if you go over a speed bump.

I have a 2005 Chrysler Pacifica and I was experiencing problems with a clicking noise and shifting coming from underneath the front end of my car. Upon inspection by my mechanic it became clear that the "engine cradle" or subframe was completely rotted through with visible corrosion. Upon further investigation, I discovered that this "engine cradle" corrosion problem has been acknowledged by Chrysler and an extended warranty was issued to repair this part for 2004 and 2005 Pacifica's. Extended warranty letter id 0004617/#45543/x26. . . However, when I contacted Chrysler, I was informed that based on the VIN # of my car, I did not qualify for Chryslers extended warranty for this issue, the letter Chrysler issued for this extended warranty clearly states that it covers 2004-2005 Chrysler Pacifica's, and even though I fall within the model year, geographical region, and the 10yr/150,000mile guidelines of extended warranty, Chrysler claims that my 2005 was not manufactured within some narrow manufacturing window to qualify for this extended warranty.
I have a 2005 Chrysler Pacifica and I was experiencing problems with a "clicking noise" coming from underneath the front end of my car. Upon inspection by my mechanic it became evident that the "engine cradle" which holds up engine was completely rotted through with about 80% of visible corrosion (I really wish I could actual attach pictures of corrosion provided to me by my mechanic). Upon further investigation, I discovered that this "engine cradle" corrosion problem has been acknowledged by Chrysler and an extended warranty was issued to repair this part for 04 and 05 Pacifica's. Extended warranty letter id 0004617/#45543/x26. . . However, when I contacted Chrysler, I was informed that based on the VIN # of my car, I did not qualify for Chryslers extended warranty for this issue (10 yrs or 150,000 miles) - the letter Chrysler issued for this extended warranty clearly states that it covers 2004-2005 Chrysler Pacifica's, and even though I fall within the model year, geographical region, and the 10yr/150,000mile guidelines of extended warranty, Chrysler claims that my 2005 was not manufactured within some narrow manufacturing window to qualify for this extended warranty. In closing, unfortunately, due to financial constraints, and the costly nature of this repair (2-3k), I have no choice but to drive this car the way it is at the moment - I do understand that it is clearly unsafe to drive this car and it probably shouldn't be on the road - however, I do have a valid state inspection sticker from previous year, so my car is "legal to drive", and I really have no choice but to continue to utilize this car until I can come up with a resolution (all I can do at this point is keep my fingers crossed and pray that I don't cause any harm to myself or anybody else). What should I / can I do to next? can you please help me and advise accordingly. Thank you sincerely jp.

Went to start up my wife's 06 Chrysler Pacifica and the engine was making a ticking noise. I then looked up the information on line to come to my surprise this is a problem in the 3. 5 Pacifica. I even tried the heavy oil fix and still no luck. Chrysler need to fix this problem. I change my oil every 3000 miles with synthetic like clock work. This might be my last Chrysler product.

Clunking sound coming from engine. Motor mounts were worn out. Also noticed engine cradle on passenger side was rusted and separating at weld. The rust was significant too the point that holes had formed in multiple spots. Contacted Chrysler dealership and they reported that Chrysler has posted a service bulletin on the issue in the last two weeks. No information is available online except for other owners discussing issue.
I purchased a 2005 Chrysler Pacifica in June of 08. In September I brought the car to a local shop because I noticed the car was not performing well sluggish, clunking noises ect. . . Diagnosis - replace motor and tranny mounts 9/23/2009. In June of 2010 car is in the shop because I hear a clunking everytime I accelerate from a dead stop. Diagnosis-replace motor mounts. It is the end of August and I'm hearing the clunking noise, so I went to the dealer and they are telling me all the motor and tranny mounts are broken. I have read hundreds of postings that Pacifica owners are having with engine mounts. Please can someone do something about this too common problem with Pacificas. Chrysler knows there is problem because they cannot keep enough of them in stock.

Loud ticking noise and rattling in the engine. 4th time since buying the Pacifica I've had to take it in to get the same issue fixed. The noise sounds like the car is a truck. The issue is the valves, shafts and shaft head. I was also advised that if I were to continue to drive the Pacifica, the engine could blow. This is a defect when they made this car. I know for a fact it's not the dealer I take it to b/c I've been to one in GA, one in orlando, FL and now in miami, FL. I knew what it was before I took it in and every single time Chrysler looks at me like, "just another women complaining b/c she doesn't like the sound. " it's b/c I don't want my engine to blow in my face while driving. I am in tune with my Pacifica and know that sound well. They have had to change the valve shafts each time and even a shaft head. I've owned the car brand new 12/2006, no miles, have had it service regularly like warranty states yet the problem keeps coming back. It has 58,900 miles on it so it shouldn't have this issue almost every year. Last incident has been selected. Previous incidents, every year since 2007.
The contact owns a 2005 Chrysler Pacifica. The contact stated that while driving approximately 35 mph, she heard a ticking sound. The ticking sound seemed to become louder when the accelerator pedal was depressed. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing where she was informed that the engine was defective. The current and failure mileages were approximately 46,000.
My 2006 Chrysler pacific has tapping noise coming from the engine and dealers don't seem to know what's wrong. Another check it and said its the lifters. Warranty is on the car and the noise is annoying. Chrysler need to fix the problem.
I have a 2006 Chrysler Pacifica touring with around 40k miles. These days I have heard the ticking noise from engine. I tried to fix this problem from many mechanics, but they can not fix it. The noise makes me crazy. I could not find anything wrong. Furthermore, many mechanics could not find what is the problem.
Clicking noise coming from the engine on deceleration and acceleration. And the throttle sticks occasionally. We had it looked at by mechanic, and the motor mount is cracked and rotting, we attempted to order a motor mount, the Chrysler dealer said they have 173 requests for motor mount in lake havasu city, az and none are available anywhere. There is a 6 month wait before they can get any.
I am also having a problem with a ticking sound in my engine. Took it back to the car dealership to fix, but they will not honor our warranty. I do not even think they know what it wrong with it. It is just becoming louder and louder and I do not know what to do.
The contact owns a 2004 Chrysler Pacifica. While driving at an unknown speed, the contact heard a popping sound in the front of the vehicle underneath the hood. The dealer could not duplicate the failure. She had an independent mechanic inspect the vehicle and it was discovered that the rear motor mount transmission was fractured. The dealer stated that the part needed for the repair was on national back order. There were 12,000 parts that were expected to arrive. The contact had been waiting two months for the part to arrive. Currently, the part has not yet arrived and is still on back order. The current and failure mileages were less than 55,000.
