Brake Disc Pads problems of the 1996 Chrysler Sebring

Five problems related to brake disc pads have been reported for the 1996 Chrysler Sebring. The most recently reported issues are listed below.

Failure Date: 03/24/1999

Rusted brake rotors replaced and brake pads due to brake noise/reduction of brake responsiveness. Brake rotors have been recalled for this problem, however consumers VIN not included. (98v-005).

Failure Date: 01/01/1997

Excessive wear of rotors and pads within every three months. Rotors would be turned or replaced, alongs with replacing brakes pads. Dealer / manufacturer were notified. Dealer replaced/repaired rotors and pads on the frist two occasions. All expenses went to the consumer. Feel free to provide further details.

Failure Date: 06/26/1996

Front right brake pads wear unevenly. The inside pad is grinding into the rotor while the outside is thick on the leading edge and thin on the trailing edge.

Brake pads wear excessively and destroys the rotors. When it rains the brakes are completely inoperable. The pedal goes to the floor and rotors "scream", metal against metal.

The brake pads would stick to the rotors causing the pads to wear out prematurely. The brake pads have been replaced approximately, every 5,000 miles and the rotors have been replaced three times. The brake pads wore on one side and not the other. When the brakes were applied on the highway they would go sideways. The consumer also had a concern about an "m 1999," in which the engine would smoke while in motion on the highway. Oil leaked out from the top of the engine due to faulty parts. The engine was rebuilt by the dealer.
