I took my Sebring in for brakes and they put new pads on. They ask if I wanted an oil change. I didn't need one so they said they would change the computer to take the reminder off. When I left the dealer, my radio no longer worked. I told them I would bring it back on Monday. I parked my car on sat morning and didn't start it again until mon morning. Well, the battery was completely dead! not a gauge, idiot light or anything was working. I finally got a hot shot to start it and I left to head for the dealership. Well the transmission would not shift out of low so I had to get it towed to the dealer. After the car was unloaded, the mechanic got in and turned the key to get the mileage and the radio just came on. The dealer worked on the car the next day and said all that was wrong was the battery had a weak cell. I said hogwash! there was a short or a computer problem somewhere. It's the dead of winter and it's been very cold, the car had never even turned over slow before this. I could almost swear that a dead short was draining the battery. I guess my question is, where could the short be? are there wires anywhere around the front wheel well that could cause this problem? or could the mechanic have done something wrong with the computer taking off the reminder? the guy suggested we never turned on the radio and I was driving around in manual low. I was flabbergasted. I've been driving for over 40 years and used to be a mechanic years ago. What are they missing? has anyone ever experienced anything like this before?.

2008 Chrysler Sebring electrical system recall 08v152000
NHTSA: action number: n/a service bulletin number: 08v152000
Apr 02, 2008component:
electrical systempotential units affected:
summary: Chrysler is recalling 180,963 my 2007-2008 Sebring and Dodge avenger vehicles equipped with a standard tire pressure monitoring system (tpms). Unused electrical connectors for the tpms may become corroded and could short circuit, which can cause a variety of conditions including engine no-start, dead battery, an inoperative cruise control or remote start system, and/or engine stalling. Consequence: engine stalling could cause a crash without warning. Note: myn car has the same symptons has described in this recall. Especially the stalling at lights on first acceleration. Then yo have to stop the car put it in park and restart and go. Tire pressure light comes on when I have these intermitnent problems. A accident waiting to happen and get rear-ended. Unfortunately my car VIN does not fall in this recall for some unexplanable reason. Can it be extended to cover my car. Thanks for your time!!!!!.

I own a 2000 jxi conv, that I purchased in 2006 and my remote stopped working so I changed the battery and it still will not work after changing the battery. I had never noticed that there was an alarm on this car, there was never any flashing lights or anything. Just all of a sudden when I went to enter my car the alarm went off, and with the remote not working I could not stop the alarm, even after starting the car, driving with lights flashing. Now the alarm sets most of the time when I exit the car, but I cannot use the key in the drivers door, because it will nor un-arm the alarm, and if the alarm did not previously come on when I locked the car it come on when I try to unlock the car. I have to go to the passenger side door to unlock the doors. I tried to re-synchronize the remote with the car but with the remote buttons not working it did not work. There must be some type of electrical short in the car why it remote/ alarm will not work properly. Also sometimes when I just put the key in the door without turning it will unlock the doors. Now the trunk will not stay open when opened. When you think it will stay open it will fall down on you.

I presently own a 1996 Chrysler serbring convertible that was purchased new in 1996. The battery for this vehicle is located behind the front drivers side of the vehicle. In order to gain access the battery you must remove the front tire and then the shroud that covers the wheel well. My battery has been replaced three times since the date of purchase. The first time was on the day that the vehicle was purchased; the second time was in 1999 and most recently today; November 22, 2005. During the process of replacing the battery on 11/22 our mechanic found that the battery casing that holds the battery in place was totally corroded and needed to be repaired. The cause of this corrosion (according to my mechanic) is from battery acid and other elements. Additionally, the drivers side frame of the car was also damaged/corroded due to the battery acid and that the frame would need to be replaced/repaired as well and that the vehicle was not safe to drive. I spoke with Chrysler corporation just prior to writing to you and they advised me that there was nothing that they could do because of the age of the vehicle; despite the fact that I truly believed that this situation was caused by extremely poor engineering of the vehicle. I have taken the liberty of writing to you because of 1) I believe that there are other Chrysler Sebring convertible that are experiencing the same problem that the drivers may be totally unaware of and 2) if in fact they are or could have in the future a corroded battery casing and more so a corroded frame. The potential of an accident due to the issues appears to be inevitable. Your help regarding this issue would be greatly appreciated.

Purchased the 2004 Chrysler Sebring in November of 04. Have had an electrical issue since the purchase. While driving the dash board lights will flicker on and off, the radio will make a poping noise, and the car will stall out. Has down this numerous time while driving down the interstate. Dealership has replaced the battery, reformatted the main computer and still has not solved the problem.

While driving down the road, my radio would produce a loud popping noise and then the display would go blank. My odometer would begin blinking and the rest of the guages would go down. My car stalled and I had to restart it. The first time this happened, I took it to the dealership and they found nothing wrong. The second time, they replaced my battery. The third time, nothing wrong. The fourth time, they reformatted the computer in the car. The fifth time nothing found. Today was the sixth time and it is still at the dealership. I'm beginning to fear for my family's safety because it is stalling while driving. This has become extremely frustrating because they haven't been able to duplicate the problems at the dealership.
On 2/25/04 had electical problem dealership confirmed and said nothing to fix, on 3/13/04 driving on freeway car had no power all electrical system shut down now dealership replacing cluster & battery cause gauges not working but unable to detect what caused electrical system to shut down I fear for my life.
2001 Chrysler Sebring - defected door handle, cutting off each time you stop w/o topping it off. The car was in the shop 4 times, October, November, December and January-2002. Recently, April 15-18,2003, it started cutting off. Not under warranty I bought a new battery and then had to by a new auto computer system. I want haynes Jeep Chrysler and plymouyh to refund me all of my money and take the car back. My mother and I are handicapped, she has lupus and I just had major surgery as a kidney donor to my uncle. We were stranded in salisbury, nc after my follow up doctors visit at the carolinas transplant center.

The vehicle would not shift from third gear. The speedometer stopped working as well. The dealer stated a sensor in transmission had blown. This was caused by changing the battery.

Battery has been replaced twice, 3 sensors have been replaced, tar like substance dripped from the door panels onto the inside of car and was taken in to shop several times before corrected, complained to the dealer of wind noise but they never resolved the problem. Dealership very hard to deal with when there are problems. I am open to any suggestions while looking for a Honda accord.
The vehicle had intermittent noise in the steering, and it was diagnosed that the vehicle had a faulty rack and pinion. The vehicle had to be towed to the dealer due to a failed battery.
