This investigation was opened on Oct. 13, 2005. It was closed on Dec. 6, 2006. Consumers alleged that when it rained or snowed, water leaked into the vehicle around the windshield. Moisture flowing through the seal that surrounds the front windshield follows a path through the seal into the generic electronic module (gem) and fuse box, and may cause the electrical components

5 Windshield defect investigations of Ford Expedition vehicles
This investigation was opened on Jun. 15, 2005. It was closed on Oct. 13, 2005. Odi has received 39 reports alleging that water leaks around the windshield causing electrical failures, including but not limited to the windshield wipers and the headlamps. Ford reports that water entering the vehicle can wet the power distribution box (pdb) and the generic electronic module (gem).

7 Front seat belts buckle assembly defect investigations of Ford Expedition vehicles
This investigation was opened on Feb. 17, 2005. It was closed on Jul. 6, 2005. During the initial recall campaign in 2001, the subject vehicles were inspected by Ford dealerships using a test tool that would detect a defective front seat outboard seat belt buckle assembly. Approximately one million vehicles passed the inspection test for one or both front buckles.

8 Cruise control defect investigations of Ford Expedition vehicles
This investigation was opened on Nov. 19, 2004. It was closed on Mar. 22, 2005. This investigation resulted in a vehicle safety recall.
In its letter dated January 27, 2005 to odi, Ford indicated that it would conduct a safety recall (NHTSA recall # 05v-017) to remedy an overheating speed control deactivation switch in approximately 738,490 subject vehicles.

15 Suspension defect investigations of Ford Expedition vehicles
This investigation was opened on Feb. 13, 1998. It was closed on Jun. 30, 1998. Three consumers have reported failure of one of the two front suspension torsion bars in the subject vehicles. In one case the failure occurred while the vehicle was in operation, and the vehicles were parked when the other two failures occurred. No crashes have been reported.
