2 Parking brake defect investigations of GMC C/k Series vehicles
This investigation was opened on Dec. 8, 2003. It was closed on Apr. 9, 2004. Odi opened pe03-057 to assess parking brake ineffectiveness in the subject vehicles. These vehicles are equipped with four wheel disc brakes that incorporate a single-shoe drum-in-hat parking brake independent of the service brakes.

3 Windshield wiper/washer motor defect investigations of GMC C/k Series vehicles
This investigation was opened on May. 31, 2002. It was closed on Jul. 23, 2003. This investigation resulted in a vehicle safety recall.
As a result of this, and the precedinginvestigation, rq99-003, gm has expanded the population of safety recall 98v-150 (replacement of the windshield wiper control module) to include an additional 1. 77 million vehicles.

4 Electrical system defect investigations of GMC C/k Series vehicles
This investigation was opened on May. 17, 2002. It was closed on May. 1, 2003. This investigation resulted in a vehicle safety recall.
By letter dated March 19, 2003, the manufacturer notified NHTSA of the decision to initate a safety recall campaign on selected vehicles within the subject population. The campaign involves 507,000 c/k and m/l vehicles built during model years 1997-1998.
