1 Automatic Transmission Control Module problem of the 2015 Dodge Dart

Failure Date: 04/24/2025

I am having an intermittent, no communication with tcm, active stabiliy control light comes on, the vehicle feels like it pops into neutral jarring the vehicle and once this happens I have code u0101 in pcm, abs, esm, bcm, ipc, rfh along with a u11c2 code in the pcm. Also sometimes when this happens if I turn the vehicle off it won’t start again. I have not brought it to the dealership as I can’t afford it, but 2013-2015 Dodge Dart has a recall for the tcm because of the tcm bracket, causing almost ever issue my vehicle has. And I was told it is engine specific but the 1. 4,2. 0, and 2. 4 all came with the same tcm and bracket. I aquired this vehicle 2 months ago and I have had the issue intermittently since I got it. I am a mechanic over 10 years and I have replaced the alternator due to the vehicle not starting after being parked. That seemed to fix the issue but several days later it happened again. Then I had no issue with a no start again until today. I replaced all the star connectors due to having communication codes in so many modules. And oddly enough I had no issues for several days, then the asc light came on and the vehicle jarred again but it only had a u0101 code in the abs module and sometimes the pcm but no other modules and also the problem was not happening daily like before I would go several days without a issue I would clear the codes and had no issue the rest of the day. Until today I just started the vehicle and while parked the light came on and I scanned it and it had codes in 6 modules again and it is now doing it back to back and I turn the engine off to clear the codes and they won’t clear and also the vehicle won’t start but if I cycle the key and open the door several times it allow the codes to eventually clear and the vehicle to start but shortly after the light comes back on and I have the same issue again. And it seems to happen mainly when I have a passenger. Because the tcm is on the passenger floor board.

2 Automatic Transmission Control Module problem of the 2013 Dodge Dart

Failure Date: 06/06/2024

The tcm needed to be replaced, it would flash service transmission on the dash and then say "shift into neutral and then drive or reverse" when attempting to shift it says "gear not available. " there is a recall on other cars for this exact reason but my VIN number was not included. It would lock up in the middle of the road or when in park. It endangered not only my life but also any passengers. There were no symptoms prior and it started around June 6th, 2024. After replacing the tcm my car had to go into a full sleep cycle before the message would stop appearing. The vehicle was serviced at midway auto in kearney nebraska, where they also replaced my shifting cable bushing due to another recall that did affect my VIN number at the time that it started displaying the message. The dealership has already replaced the tcm and expects me to pay for it even though this is a well know common issue in these cars, so we'll know in fact that there is its own recall that for some reason does not apply to my specific vehicle and I would like to know why, especially if it is a manufactured defect.

3 Automatic Transmission Control Module problem of the 2013 Dodge Dart

Failure Date: 01/01/2024

On January 1, 2024 I was getting in my car to go to work. My car would not shift into drive, or reverse. It said "gear not available" after about 30 minutes, it finally went into drive. While driving to work, my car shifting into neutral on it's own. I took my car to a local transmission shop where they said it was the dual clutch that needed to be replaced. So it was replaced. The issue still persisted and they said it was the hydraulic actuator. I took it to my local Dodge dealership where they said it the tcm needed replaced. So that was replaced. They are now saying it is the hydraulic actuator and odd shift actuator. My car is still at the local Dodge dealership because I can not afford the extra $8000 to fix it. I had no codes show up before January 1, 2024. I have reached out to Dodge and stellantis about all of the issues and trying to receive financial help. There were recalls in 2015-2016 for the tcm.

The rpm's just kept riving up but car was not going any faster. It has done this twice in the past week. The dealership put it on the computer and ran some tests and cleared out all codes and updated some stuff and told me to let hi know if the engine light came back on. Well on the way home the engine light came back on and did the same thing and jerked really hard making my car slow down and not accelerate. The code says the pcm/tcm but it feels like the transmission is going out. It acts like it doesnt want to shift into the next gear.

9 Automatic Transmission Control Module problem of the 2014 Dodge Dart

Failure Date: 01/20/2021

I got a recall letter on my vehicle a few years ago regarding the a powertrain issue, an issue with the transmission control module and mounting bracket. I am sure I took my vehicle in for repairs. The car is now shifting itself into neutral while I am driving, and the only way to get it to drive again is to shift it into reverse, then neutral and back into drive, you can see how this would be a problem when driving on the freeway. I have checked the recall information on vehicle and it says it has been repaired, but the issues is still very present. It always happens when driving, it will sometimes happen as soon as I pull the car out of park.

13 Automatic Transmission Control Module problem of the 2014 Dodge Dart

Failure Date: 08/26/2020

Dodge has an active recall (r42) that matches the situation that happened to my car. My car switched into neutral while driving multiple times, at speeds 60+ and the Dodge dealer diagnosed the issue as the tcm needing replaced. This happened several times, if there were people behind me they would have ran into me as my car jolted and decreased speeds rapidly, then shut off. My exact situation matches the recall except the VIN is different, but it is the same make and model. However, Dodge will not do anything about it, or warn customers.

14 Automatic Transmission Control Module problem of the 2013 Dodge Dart

Failure Date: 07/24/2020

The transmission shifts into neutral on it's own, for us it only happens when we stop at a traffic light. Then it's displayed to shift to neutral and then to drive or reverse, this may have to be performed two or three times before the car move, then we only have the even or the odd gears depending on witch clutch activates. This happened on a four lane suburban road with a speed limit of 50 mph and will happen when the transmission gets to full temperature. This vehicle had the recall 15v-542 performed 08/25/15. After several tcm failures abusing the transmission prior to the recall, the transmission now needs to be replaced. The shifting to neutral issue first happened July of 2014.

Recall r42 was completed on may 7 2018, as of today the vehicle is at the dealer with the same problem as the original safety recall both the dealer and fca said that the 2 year warranty on the tcm has expired by 2 months. Apparently the safety recall has not been fixed and the issue continues. They want me to pay for a new tcm. I feel that the fix they did originally was not sufficient to repair the problem and Dodge should address this issue by taking care of the same problem.

16 Automatic Transmission Control Module problem of the 2014 Dodge Dart

The transmission shop and an auto electric shop told me the tcm and the valve body inside the transmission were faulty and needed replacing. The transmission shop told me they called Chrysler and were told they were aware of the problem and that it was a program issue and replacing the transmission would fix nothing. Then Chrysler told them if they figure it out, to let them know.

30 Automatic Transmission Control Module problem of the 2013 Dodge Dart

Failure Date: 08/25/2018

The powertrain control module was reprogrammed and the transmission control module was reprogrammed under warranty on August 29, 2013. March 13, 2015 the check engine light was coming on and the dealership had noted that several modules have stored code for lost communications with tcm module u0101-00. Pcm needed flash update which was done. Tcm was replaced and reprogrammed. On Saturday, August 25, 2018. We then had problems with the car shifting into gear when leaving parked position. Could not reverse or go forward. We could physically put it into gear but the car itself would not shift properly. It then went into limp mode. On Sunday, August 26 it happened again while parked. We drove it to crowfoot Dodge on Monday, August 27. As we were bringing it in the car went to limp mode as driving. So we left it where it stopped. We called the Dodge mechanic and he told us that he thought the problem was the transmission control module. They needed to order the part but it should be fixed on Wednesday. The part was not there on Wednesday nor Thursday. We then called on Friday and was told that they replaced the transmission control module and the car still had some internal transmission problem. On the statement they wrote that the actuator for 1 clutch and 3 was faulty and because it was integrated into the transmission the whole transmission needs to replaced for $11,000. This car's warranty expired on June 29, 2018 and 140,000 km's current read. As the transmission control module has been a problem previously while we were still in warranty.
