The dealer also advised the contact to use the parking brake at all times to prevent the vehicle from shifting out of gear. The contact does not feel safe driving the vehicle. The contact owns a 2002 Dodge Durango. The recall repair was performed in February 2008. Someone was nearly pinned between his vehicle and another vehicle when his son pulled the gear shift out of park. The dealer and the manufacturer informed him that there was a fail safe bracket that should have replaced during the recall repair. Since the bracket is made of pot metal it can fail easily. The vehicle is currently being serviced at the dealer. The failure mileage was 110000 and the current mileage was 111318.

I did not know what was happening until I hit the car behind me. The car wash mechine stopped, I notice that the prndl was illuminating half of the r, the car was changed to reverse!
the similar thing happend before. One time I was driving on the local road(45 mile/hour), in a sudden, I heard strange load noise, then I saw the prndl showing "2" instead of the "d". Another time, the gear was changed from "d" to "n" when I was driving.
