2 Suspension problem of the 2011 Dodge Durango

Failure Date: 01/22/2025

I was in a blizzard a few days ago on the freeway & got caught in a ditch, but thankfully got out. I wasn’t going that fast & couldn’t due to not being able to see through the snow well so I can drive safely. In order not to crash because there were semi trucks around, I had to whip the steering wheel along with the weight of the car on the snow in order not to crash due to the car being big & it was sliding pretty heavy & somehow a couple things went out of wack after turning my steering wheel. Definitely a scary experience. It is very hard to turn out of no where, as well it’s rare at times when it turns just a little smoothly. Also, once when first pulling off, it makes a consecutive clicking noise coming from or by the tires. When I give it acceleration while turning, as well, it makes that clicking sound. Then there’s just something about the engine or the drive train that sounds off. I’m still learning as I go about fixing what needs to be done.

3 Suspension problem of the 2024 Dodge Durango

Failure Date: 10/20/2024

I purchased a brand-new 2024 Dodge Durango that has had an unresolved front-end noise since purchase. The service manager and two technicians confirmed hearing the noise, but the dealership and manufacturer have not been able to identify or repair it after multiple visits. The vehicle has also had loose bumper hardware, missing clips, loose hoses, and a defective roof rack. I am concerned this may be related to the suspension or steering, which could pose a safety risk if parts are loose or failing. The vehicle is available for inspection at any time.

4 Suspension problem of the 2021 Dodge Durango

Failure Date: 08/22/2024

We own a 2021 Dodge durgano srt hellcat which we received from the dealership on [xxx]. It has only 17,083 miles on it and the 50,000 mile stock pirelli run flat tires are cording and coming apart at the interior of the tire. The vehicle has had recommended tire rotations every year at 5,000 to 6,000 mi. They have advised there is a major factory alignment issue causing the front tires to lean in at the top resulting in very abnormal wear to the interior of the tires. We have photo proof of our 2021 Durango with the alignment issue versus our 2018 Durango without it. We notified Dodge of this safety issue especially since they have three brand new Durangos for sale with this same issue. We were unaware of this issue until the tires started coming apart since this was a brand new car and factory alignment should not be set to destroy tires. We filed claim# [xxx] with Chrysler and they denied our claim to assist us with aligning the vehicle and replacing the tires and also showed refused to correct the issue for future customers purchasing their vehicles. We are currently in a battle with our local dealership hw hunter Dodge (lancaster, CA) to have the tires replaced and alignment issues corrected yet they are also refusing to help or be liable for the alignment problem on our vehicle and other vehicles they have sold or will be selling. This poses a serious safety hazard for anyone who has purchased a 2021 or newer Durango r/t, srt, and srt hellcat which all have this camber issue at the top of the both front tires. Eventually, someone will experience a massive tire failure with their family in the vehicle and will either be seriously hurt if not worse. A recall should be issued for this problem immediately and replacement of damaged tires but both Dodge and Chrysler will not take any liability nor help with even looking into the issue. In the photos attached our 2021 Durango is white, our 2018 Durango is red, and the black Durango is brand new for sale. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information.

The uconnect system in the 2020 Dodge Durango srt has been compromised. The vehicle has experienced major safety concerns and life threatening issues for the driver. All components from body telemetry to speed control breaking fuel consumption electrical the brain itself the gps the tracking equipment and software. Somebody a(hacker or Toyota) is remotely hacked and controlling the system just like the voluntarily recall of Jeep. However the uconnect system is a Toyota product or I was lead to believe. The uconnect system has failed. It has been hacked. The malware has affected every component of the the Dodge Durango. The vehicle needs to be recalled and bought back. Taken off the road. The defective software makes the vehicle a death trap and a malware networking hub. I fear for my life and the safety of my life because of this vehicle. This has been a daily occurrence since 06/14/2022, when I purchased the vehicle.

12 Suspension problem of the 2021 Dodge Durango

Failure Date: 12/14/2022

I keep receiving error messages on my vehicle, I spoke to a dealership and they stated that there is in fact for a recall.

13 Suspension problem of the 2018 Dodge Durango

Failure Date: 08/04/2022

I was driving on i75 north in florida near ocala (exit 358) traveling about 70mph when I approached slowing traffic. I attempted a slow and steady stop without slamming on the brakes. The emergency braking system engaged but the vehicle failed to stop and I was not able to completely floor the brakes. In an effort to avoid hitting the vehicle in front of me and causing a multiple car collision I swerved onto the grassy side of the road. Because the car would not stop completely my passenger front wheel made contact with a concrete ditch and my vehicle flipped over resulting in a total loss.

14 Suspension problem of the 2018 Dodge Durango

Failure Date: 12/21/2021

The 2018 Dodge Durango has a blown rear shock. I have wore shocks out but never seen blown seals. The car barely has 50k and is not covered under warranty, or my extended warranty. They are on backorder and apparently this is not a new problem. The soonest I can get a shock is the 23rd of next month. It is not safe to drive.

15 Suspension problem of the 2000 Dodge Durango

Failure Date: 11/23/2021

The contact owns a 2000 Dodge Durango. The contact stated while driving 5 mph, she heard an abnormal noise coming from the front driver’s side tire. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The contact exited the vehicle and stated that the front driver’s side wheel was detached from the vehicle. The vehicle was not drivable. The contact towed the vehicle to an independent mechanic, and she was informed that the ball joint, tie rod, and wheel spindle needed to be replaced. Additionally, the vehicle would need a front wheel alignment. The vehicle was repaired. A dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 240,000.

17 Suspension problem of the 2012 Dodge Durango

Failure Date: 02/18/2021

We put our Durango away each winter and doesn't get driven until we bring it out in the spring. 2 years ago I pulled it out in the spring. I found 2 oil puddles where the rear wheels sat. All the oil had leaked out of the rear shocks. I had them replaced by my mechanic at a cost of $450 each, using Dodge original parts. I went into our garage a week ago (Feb 18th 2021) and found the left rear shock had let go again, another puddle on the garage floor. If these let go when you are driving, the vehicle bounces violently. I know this because I have driven it that way for about 10 miles to our mechanic, I had all I could do to hang onto it.

18 Suspension problem of the 2015 Dodge Durango

Failure Date: 01/26/2021

Rear shock mounts are defective. I assume this to be a design flaw. This results in poor tire wear as the upper part of the shock "wiggles" in the mount. This also affects the drivability and reaction of the vehicle while taking defensive driving actions. Dodge is aware of this issue as you can no longer buy this mount and you have to buy the entire shock with mount attached. This issue was discovered upon changing the shocks. This has been the clunking noise coming from the rear of the vehicle when going over small bump in the terrain.

20 Suspension problem of the 2015 Dodge Durango

Failure Date: 06/26/2020

The air bag light goes on/off. Dealer says it is a faulty wiring or connection and have to take out the passenger seat. They told me that the air bag system is off when it detects some fault. They are charging me $400. 00 to try to fix the problem. I have no choice but to fix. Rear shocks are leaking, why I do not know.

24 Suspension problem of the 2018 Dodge Durango

At 20,00 mi the shocks starting knocking and dealer said not covered under warranty. At 50,000 mi they are complettly shot no shock action at all and dealer says $500. 00 per shock and $150. 00 labor per shock.

25 Suspension problem of the 2012 Dodge Durango

Failure Date: 06/29/2019

My wife was driving down the road probably about 40 or 45 mph when she heard a loud pop and the car began to handle weird and making all kinds of noise. She got it to a nearby parking lot where I met her to look at it. At first glance I could not find anything wrong except for the exhaust appeared to be broke so I had her drive it home since she was only a mile from the house. When I got it home upon further inspection I found that the rear subframe for the rearend had ripped out of the unibody frame. There cracks and rust in the frame. The vehicle has been at the Dodge dealer for the last month and half and Dodge is refusing to take fault for the manufacturing defect. Insurance has also refused to pay for it as there was no signs of an impact. I am looking at a 6000 dollar or more repair for a 12,000 dollar car that still has over 10,000 owed on it. I'm at a loss as to what do with the situation. The dealership has also said that there's nothing more they can do for me and that I just need to come get my car.

27 Suspension problem of the 2018 Dodge Durango

Failure Date: 04/17/2019

Durango r/t hemi awd towing package. Noticed rattle, clunking on rear passenger side, as well as increased body roll and rear end sway/road walk on road patches, road surface to bridge transitions, etc. Leading to a steering correction on steering wheel. Very noticeable at highway speeds. Made appt. For dealer inspection/repair. Dealer diagnosed as bad rear strut, ordered new struts for both rear sides and sent me home. I have been waiting almost 4 weeks now, dealer just tells me "138+ struts are on back order, no eta for the parts. Opened an incident with fca customer service over a week ago, all they are doing is sending me a daily email or vmail saying they are working on getting me the part, no eta. Meanwhile the ride continues to deteriorate.

28 Suspension problem of the 2017 Dodge Durango

Failure Date: 04/07/2019

I have a 2017 Durango, the rear shock are bad on it, the vehicle only has 26500 on it. Dodge currently has 200+ of these shocks on back order. With the shocks being bad if I go over a small bump it causes the back end of the vehicle to get loose and you almost lose control of the vehicle. I've looked at several Dodge Durango forums and this seem like a common issue with them. I've contacts Dodge all they tell me is they are working on making replacement parts. I'm not driving it currently because I am concerned about loosing control of the vehicle because of this issue. I have been waiting about a month of replacement parts and it's going to be a few more weeks before they hopefully have the parts. Also looking at the Dodge forums some people have had 3+ set of shocks put in there vehicle with the same result. It does not seem like Dodge is taking this issue seriously and I would hate for someone to get hurt or killed because of this issue.

29 Suspension problem of the 2016 Dodge Durango

Failure Date: 04/02/2019

I have been waiting 2 months for a shock for a leased vehicle.

30 Suspension problem of the 2016 Dodge Durango

Failure Date: 03/01/2019

Tl the contact owns a 2016 Dodge Durango. While driving various speeds, the contact heard a loud abnormal noise coming from the rear of the vehicle. There were no warning indicators illuminated. Coon rapids Chrysler Dodge Jeep ram (10541 woodcrest dr NW, coon rapids, mn 55433, (763) 290-1011) diagnosed that the rear shocks needed to be repaired. The vehicle was not repaired because the parts were on backorder. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 40,000.

31 Suspension problem of the 2014 Dodge Durango

Failure Date: 02/12/2019

My 2014 Durango has been making a knocking noise on the front driver side for over 3 years now. I took my car in several times and to different dealers. It was always the same story, we couldn't find anything I even had one dealership tell me sorry we can't figure it out, it's like trying to find a needle in a haystack. are you kidding me!! my vehicle has been to the dealer over 5times for the same problem and it's never been fixed. Now it's out of warranty and out of their hair, just what they wanted. I need to help on what to do in this situation. Another issue I had was with the fuel pump. They fixed some problem I had a few years back, they actually broke my gas tank door after working on this issue. My car has once again come back with this same problem. Today my car won't start and is unfortunately out of warranty. I had a mechanic come take a look at it and it seems to be the fuel pump once again. Who's working on these cars? drunks? I need help ASAP. I want to note that the knocking noise occurs every time I'm driving. No matter the road conditions. Smooth, bumping, raining, the knocking sound is there. It sounds like a rock hitting under the hood. It's not constant but happens every 3-5 minutes and I know it's not the lifters because I've also had the problem already and it's been fixed. Any help would be great. .

32 Suspension problem of the 2014 Dodge Durango

Failure Date: 10/18/2018

I am experiencing a thumping noise in the rear end of my vehicle when moving on any surface with the slightest imperfection. When taken to the dealership to be checked out they found that the rear shocks are causing the abnormal noise. In my own research on these (rather expensive) shocks I have found that they should not be failing in under 100k miles which my vehicle is under and I have also found in a couple forums that they have a known defect. However Chrysler claims there is no service bulletin or recall on them. Several independent repair shops have also made the comment that I should not be having this sort of issue with these shocks and that I should contact Chrysler to see if they would cover them. The customer service rep that I spoke with at Chrysler advised me to make a complaint with the NHTSA. Chrysler call reference number: 57340981. These particular shocks have been quoted to me by the factory service department at $477. 00 each and are not covered under the 5 year 100k mile power train warranty.

33 Suspension problem of the 2011 Dodge Durango

Failure Date: 09/24/2018

While backing out of the driveway heard a loud pop, thought I had run over something. Checked and saw nothing. Proceeded and heard another pop and the back tires began to rub. Had the truck towed to the nearest repair shop and was informed that the rear suspension had separated from the undercarriage and that the bolts were intact but there were cracks in the carriage causing the suspension rod to separate. The mechanic said that in 30 years he had never seen anything like it. Cost of repair is estimated to be in the thousands.

34 Suspension problem of the 2017 Dodge Durango

Failure Date: 06/02/2018

There are currently 2 recalls for my vehicle that I was only made aware of due to me calling the dealship for reporting a noise coming from the rear under carriage of my vehicle. I am a cdl class a holder and after calling the dealership on June 2nd, they told me they can't look at my vehicle until June 27th. Having said that and me being a cdl class a holder, you cannot drive a vehicle that is a possible hazard on the roadway so why is the dealership telling me I can drive the vehicle until then knowing that it poses and immediate threat to me, my family, and other citizens on the roadway?.

35 Suspension problem of the 2014 Dodge Durango
