I have a 2012 Dodge Grand Caravan the sliding door has been making a buzzing sound every time you unlock and lock the doors. This has been happening since 2016 and the dealership told me it would be $500 to fix it. I am now having issues with trunk opening and closing on it's own; even when it is locked. Not safe at all and already got stormed inside of my van; cause I didn't realize it was opened. They told me I would have to pay the fee to get it looked at and then pay for the repairs. I had a new transmission put in at 74,330 miles after they told me when I left the first time; that it was a computer reset that needed done. Then, they had my van for 2 weeks trying to get the transmission built. And my transmission is slipping again. At 139,466 miles I had all of my transmissions lines leaking and had replace all of them for another $500; cause there was no warranty from them doing my second transmission. My cd player eats my cd's now and my ac quit working. All in all I do love my van, but I am getting very angry at all the issues; that should covered under a recall and they are not covered. If anyone could please give me some in site on these issues; I would appreciate it. I am not in the position to purchase another car at this time with jobs not very secure. I am not even able to take my van many places; cause I never know when the truck will open on its own and then someone can just steal my van. I listed the last day of all of my issues below, but this has been going on for years and still not resolved.

Van was in motion on city street (taking daughter to school) when it started shaking and then there was a burning smell. Auto shop said it's electrical but has referred us to dealership for further auto service because whatever caused burning smell "shorted out the radio / information control unit" the van is not safe to drive with this issue or it could catch fire.

2010 Dodge Grand Caravan sxt 4. 0l has stalled 4 times while driving speeds of 15mph, 30mph and twice at 45mph. When the vehicle stalls you lose power steering and power brakes. The radio still works and the only thing that appears on instrument panel is the stability control light. The first time it happened I pulled over and restarted the car, now I shift into neutral and restart. I have had 2 recalls completed on ignition switch and I only use the one key so it is not the weight of key chain. This is supposed to be a family car and now my wife will not drive for fear of this happening with kids in vehicle and causing an accident. Come on Chrysler/Dodge your better than this. . . Well at least I thought you were! I have an appointment but I know I will get a run around and no one will have every heard about this problem, but its all over every forum discussion.

My 2010 Dodge Grand Caravan began having issues about 6 months ago. The abs light would light up and beep on and off and was taken to the dealership and they stated they could not determine the problem without it occuring at that time. As months went on the problem became worse. All the dashboard lights began turning on and off headlights would dimmer, clock and radio would shut off. Took to a few mechanics and none could determine the problem. The problem got worse battery light began staying lit. We then replaced the battery and the battery cables. The problems persisted, we took to another mechanic who stated the alternator needed to be replaced. We replaced the alternator and the vehicle was fine for three weeks, then the problem started again all the lights lit up, the air went in and out, the radio shut off and out of nowhere the car shut off while about to turn at an intersection with my children in the van. We have taken the vehicle to many different mechanics even the dealership and none of them can determine what is causing this issue. Through the internet I see that we are not alone with this problem. I don't know what to do besides attempt to get rid of the vehicle. This is the vehicle I bought to transport my children; I've been paying for rental cars because I'm scared to drive it. With as many complaints as I've seen for this issue you would think there should be a recall. Someone is going to be seriously hurt or dead if they don't do something about this.
While driving or stationary I will lose all reception on my radio (am/fm) and just get static. The cd player will continue to work. The antenna connection is solid. While this is happening, I will also get flashing on my dash of the hazards and the motor of the heater will give off a grinding noise. I can turn all the equipment off and the car will continue to run. The radio eventually comes back and no other noises occur. This has been occurring for the last year.
My van stalls while driving! it has happened 4 times now in the last 3 months. You will be driving down the road and all of a sudden you have no power steering or power breaks. Ii still have lights, radio and heat. I pull over to the side of the road switch the key of and start the van back up and it runs.
On Thursday October 13, I was getting an item from back of my car. I hit my head on the hanging t. V. I went in to my work and we called a family member who took me into my dr. Office. I had a cut on top of my head and they had to put staples on top of my head. . . By Sunday, I was in such pain, I went in to see the doctor on Monday which they sent me to the hospital for a scan test on my head. . . I end up having post concussion and I miss 7 days of work. . . . My biggest concern is for my grandkids, they could gotten very hurt on the t. V. . Sharp corner. . . I am going to ask my son to tape the t. V. S up so no one else can get hurt. Yes, I do have a lot of pain, but it could have been worse. . .

Bought car 2013 may, took back twice to dealer due to van stuttering, car staying on same speed,( I'm not pressing the pedal) car turning off when I use automatic starter and place the key in the ignition. Dealer found nothing wrong with it and told me it must have been a fluke. A while later we move to California took car for tire rotation explain to dealer radio was shutting off and popping noise coming from it hot to touch, again till dealer about the gear sticking when I'm driving in the van running hard do you have found nothing. Took another two times to the dealer after words with the same issues till finally dealer phone number for uconnect helpline they requested dealer to keep the car for the 4th time of the month of may this year provide a rental car. They continues to be in the dealership now for 2 weeks. They finally found the problem with the radio(2 years it took. Radio over heating) and replacing it and continue trying to figure out what is wrong with the gears, why van run. Van has another frint wheel problem too. My issue has been sent out to the resolution center for Chrysler Dodge. My case manager advised me to trade in my van. I thought that was an acceptable resolution for me. The van continues to be at dealer they are trying to fix it they don't know what's wrong with it. Y the van is unsafe to drive it stays on the same speed no matter what you do after a long drive you push the accelerator you let go of the accelerator and it stays on 55 or hight speed no matter what. Been complaining about this issue for 2 years. Resolution found a manager stated to me that the van is under warranty and they will try to continue to fix it. I stated to known that the vans and lemon and unsafe to drive it they do not see it that way.

The date above is not real. I don't know the dates for these incidents. I am waiting since sept for a repair on this recall and my notice says I have a right to have it corrected quickly and at no cost. I have had problems in the past but no the one described. Do seem related to key not being seated correctly. After parking, it is in reverse when I return to vehicle (happened a few times. ) the key is difficult to remove (often). A few times I put the car in park and removed the key and got out and my radio and wipers continued to run until I put the key back and jiggled it a few times to get all to turn off.

I bought my Dodge Grand Caravan on 09/09/2009. My complaint is with the key fob. I was using my first key fob & the vehicle would not start. I kept trying & eventually it did start. With years of use this plastic fob has become out of shape with tape on it. When I drove home it stopped while on the road home. I was able to safely pull over. My wife brought me the spare key fob. This has worked for a while & now it is acting up. I went to my local Dodge dealership & they want over $400 for two key fobs including reprogramming them. When I bought this vehicle Dodge never told me that the key fobs would only last for about 4 years. I have other vehicles with regular old fashioned keys & they still work properly even after 11 years. Thus I need Dodge to replace these key fobs or repurchase my vehicle. It is not safe to drive when it could stop at any moment.
The contact owns a 2013 Dodge Grand Caravan. While driving approximately 55 mph with the accelerator pedal engaged, the vehicle failed to accelerate without warning. The vehicle was taken to a dealer who stated that the vehicle was operating as designed. The failure recurred. In addition, the contact stated that the radio overheated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that the radio needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 30.
We bought this van for my wifes mom. Days after we bought it, the air bag warning light came on, the cruise control doesn't work anymore and the radio changes station when I turn the steering wheel. We took it to a repair shop that told us the clock spring was defective and needed to be replaced. The clock spring was replaced by Chrysler shortly after the recall was issued. What can we do? is this something Chrysler will cover again?.

1). Noticed that the area around the rear left side of the vehicle (interior) gets hot. It is not the speaker as the speaker is working properly and the area gets hot even when not using the radio. My concern is that is the side where the gas pump is and hoping this doesn't cause a fire or explosion. Our 22 month old baby sits on that side of the van. 2) noticed that there are scratches above the rear wheel hub on both sides of the van, from both sliding doors. 3) there is a hard shutter from the automatic transmission going from 1st to 2nd gear, whenever the speed hits 10mph. The shutter causes the vehicle to have a clunking motion. 4) whenever I start the vehicle, the rpms will shoot up and down after 2 minutes, before getting to normal idle.
Door locks stopped working? speakers going out one by one.

We bought our 2010 Dodge Grand Caravan new in April of 2010. Shortly after we bought it, I drove over a speed bump and the van engine shut off. This turned off the radio, power steering. . . Everything electrical. I wrote it off to going over a speed bump too quickly. A few weeks later, the van shut down as I was driving about 40 mph down the road. I took it to the dealer and they said my key chain was too heavy. This made sense, so I removed keys. The problem still continued. To date, the van has shut down over 30 times and has been involved in one accident due to this issue. It has shut down while turning left into traffic, driving 60 mph down the expressway in the rain, driving slowly in a subdivision. There is no rhyme or reason as to when or why it shuts down. This is an unpredictable problem. Countless sensors have been replaced. Chrysler has sent the van to three different dealers to fix the problem. When the van shuts down, the engine turns off, the radio, heat/ac, power steering. . . Everything shuts off. If I put the van in neutral and turn the key, the van will typically turn back on. On three occasions the van did not turn back on so I had to manipulate the van over to the side of the road (which is very difficult without power steering), put it in park, then restart it. Dodge is well aware of this problem, but they refuse to take the van back. They have attempted to fix the problem over a dozen times, with no luck. They told me that if I trade the van in, they will "fix it" and resell it. However they can not fix it for me, so how will they fix it for someone else? I am scared that my son who is 15 is now learning to drive and he is learning on this van. Please take these vans off the road!!!.
Mygig radio system stops functioning along with the backup camera. This happens randomly. Shutting the vehicle off and restarting will sometimes make them work again. Most times it has to be left off for several hours before the equipment will function again. Took it to the local dealer for this and an air conditioning problem. Was told it needed a software update that would correct both problems. Update helped for a while, but the radio/backup camera problem has returned again in the past couple of months.
For no apparent reason, the engine shuts off while driving. The clock remains on, but accessories such as the heater also shut off, and I have no power assist with steering. So far, it's happened within 5 minutes of start-up; the outside temperatures were below freezing, but the engine has not always been cold. 1/17/07 approx. 5 min. After I'd been driving, at about 30mph, I realized the noisy fan for the heater turned off. I thought maybe the new van has a feature I didn't know about, where it reaches a set temperature then shuts off automatically? then I realized the radio had also gone quiet. I tried to accelerate but it wasn't responding, so I went to pull off on the shoulder and discovered I didn't have power steering, either. Fortunately, I was able to brake. I turned the key to the off position, restarted the van, and it seemed to work fine. At no time did I see a check engine light. 1/18/07 I had driven to a gas station, turned the van off to fill the tank, and restarted it a few minutes later, to drive away. I accelerated about 5 feet before the van turned itself off again. I stopped, moved the key to the off position, restarted it, and went on my way. 1/24/07 I backed out of the garage, but after I accelerated in reverse, about 10 ft. Down the driveway the van turned itself off again. Other days I had the heater/accessories running, but this time nothing else was turned on. The clock remained lit, so it doesn't seem like a battery issue. I turned the key to the off position and restarted the van, resumed my drive, and made an appointment with the Dodge dealership under warranty. They said there were no computer codes showing; they drove 17 mi. But couldn't duplicate the problem. Since then, the van has only shut off by itself once more when my spouse was driving, but now it seems like a probable ignition switch safety issue to investigate.

I own a 2002 Dodge Grand Caravan (we have had the van for 3 months, the previous owner was an 81 year old lady). Out of nowhere my radio started having a major malfunction. When I turn on the vehicle the radio is at full blast if you touch the volume knob it goes off but when you touch it again I goes back to full blast. There is nothing abnormal that I have done other than use it like every one else. I also discovered a mysterious puddle on the passenger floor board which when it dried it turned white. The first thing I did was take it to the Dodge dealer and told them the problem. The first thing they asked me was if I had a warranty, I said no. They told me that there was nothing they could do. They said " we don't have anyone here that can look at it and if we did we couldn't fix it anyway". They said " all we can do is sell you a new radio for $300". So then I called daimler Chrysler, and they said the same thing as the dealer. About a month later I was given a recall notice from autosite . Com, it said there was a recall for my year and model van. (campaign # 04v531000) I called daimler Chrysler back and asked about recall and reminded them of my problem. They said " your specific vehicle was not included it that recall and there is still nothing that we will do". I have three children one of which is a four month old baby that ride in this van. I would hate to think of the possible hearing damage that could cause. I have many friends who are looking at purchasing a new van and we have told them not to buy a Dodge because of the customer service that we have received and the lack of help that Dodge has given to us. We also just had to replace our transmission that cost $1500 with only 60,000 miles. We would like to know if there is anything that you can do to help us.
Cd system would not eject the cd inserted in it and the whole system shut off.
My infinity radio system started losing its time and when I shut the car off it shut the radio and the next thing I knew the radio/cd/cassette player was dead with a cd still in it. I brought it to my mechanic who said with this make/model and year van this was very common for the radio to die. He said they had numorous people complain and have to buy new radios. This is a 3 yr old van I should not have to be replacing the radio in it. Of course I cannot even get a comparable system without spending at least $350. 00 I think if this is happening to Dodge Grand Caravans a lot then there should be a recall and the manufacturer should replace the system.

Consumer replaced radio due to moisture damage which caused the radio to burnout. The consumer received a recall notice (04v531000) after the radio was replaced and sent the original bill to the manufacturer for reimbursement. The consumer claim was denied because the radio was replaced with an aftermarket one.
The rear power windows occasionally will not open but when they do, they sometimes dont stay open, also the drivers side window occasionally will not go down but if it does it will not go back up. The radio was not working properly. Nlm.
