Dodge Ram 1500 owners have reported 52 problems related to wiper (under the visibility category).
The lighting system (headlights) on my 2014 ram truck are dangerous to use at night. They are very dim and produce sub-standard lighting for safe driving. I am forced to use high beams during night driving. This is notably not safe for oncoming drivers, but it is the only option I have. After a quick internet search, this is a known problem with many Chrysler, ram and Jeep products.

The heating and air conditions system would not operate. Windows fogged up and defroster would not operate at all. Lost complete visibility almost immediately. Had to pull over and manually remove fog from inside windows. Had to do this numerous times until arrived at home. In shop now for repairs unknown at this time what caused failure. Suspect control head failure.

The tipm is going out. Causing all sorts of electrical issues. Heater fan stopped working, windshield wipers come and go, esp comes and goes, tow/haul comes and goes, rear window power comes and goes, 4x4 cant be turned on from time to time, airbag lights come on at will, esp/bas comes and goes, abs comes and goes, rear sliding window comes and goes, all of this happens mainly below 32 degrees but van happen anytime. But below freezing is extemely dangerous because the windshield ices up on the inside with no heater fan! thermometer stopped working to. Im sure other thing but its to much to just remember off the top of my head. Fuel economy is terrible also 12-13. 5 mpg while the problems occur. Normally is 17. 1 mpg average still that is terrible. At test drive it was getting 20 mpg average.
Blend door actuator failure. Loud knocking noise coming from inside of the dash, the result of stripped gears inside the actuator slipping. Plastic gears became worn and ineffective, causing failure in the blend door actuator. Safety is compromised when defrost can fail at any given time causing the driver to lose line of sight with the road and potentially resulting in an accident, and/or loss of life, limb, or eyesight. Needs recall immediately to correct malfunctions.
I noticed about a month ago that my vehicle would make a popping noise just after starting it, regardless of defrost/heat being on or off. It would make this noise about 20-30 times and then stop. Approximately two weeks after, I noticed that it would also do the same thing 10-15 minutes after starting the vehicle. I observed that while the popping noise is occurring, the hvac fan goes to a minimum setting and sometimes stays there after the popping has subsided. This includes the defrost. Now that cold weather has arrived, I have had instances of the windshield freezing up while the vehicle is in motion and reducing visibility to nothing. It was difficult to even get to the side of the road. After some research, I determined it to be one the hvac door actuators. According to posts on the internet, this appears to be a common problem. 3 of the 5 of these actuators that exist on the vehicle are relatively easy to access, so I obtained one of these parts and replaced one of the three accessible parts (found to have stripped gears). After reassembling, the noise was still present. After, investigation, it appears that the one of the actuators on the back side of the hvac housing has gone bad, also. The dealership has informed me that the only way to replace these is to remove the dashboard. They told me this would cost nearly $600. The dealer also informed me that all of the actuators have been superseded by "high torque" actuators, which means the manufacturer is aware of this problem. Thank you.
Blower blend doors/ defrost doors that send airflow to windshield for proper visibility. Outside air doors that allow frigid air to mix with air being delivered to windshield allowing for freezing of moisture in air on windshield. Doors failed due to defective inferior plastic materials being connected to drive motors. This failure is prevalent among 2002- up ram pickups from my research online. Company responded that this was not a warranty issue. Please see below for correspondence with Dodge [xxx]: thank you for contacting the Dodge assistance center. My truck sat out during the winter Dec thru April, in April when I returned to michigan the wiper motor sounded different as it it were straining. It still worked but made some noise. Today it flat out quit working, I cannot find any information regarding fuses which I would have expected to protect the motor.
Almost every time I go to use my blinkers it doesn't switch the right blinker on. And sometimes the wipers and the blinkers don't work at all. I just bought this vehicle not to long ago and have no other means to get my children to child care and my self to work. I am afraid we are going to get into an accident. With all that is going on here and being a single mom of four. I am afraid I wont be able to afford to fix it. A loss for words. Please any sugestions.

The windshield wipers just stop working. It would occasionally work at times but it wouldn't correspond to the correct speed. You can put the wipers on the fastest setting and it will only work on the slowest setting or just work intermittently and sometimes not work at all. This seems to be a common problem with other owners of the 2006 Dodge Ram 1500 and maybe it is a defective control module or defective fuse box.
When using the left turn signal the right signal sometimes flashes. Sometimes the left signal will flash for a few seconds, then the right signal will flash a few times. Failures are intermittent and inconsistent. Also, the wipers and washers operate intermittently, and the high beam switch works about 20% of the time, sometimes requiring a stop to actuate the switch repeatedly so as not to blind oncoming traffic.
The blend door on the 2005 Dodge ram goes bad easily. When this happens the ac/ and heater re-circulation is damaged. This causes visibility issues. This is a very common issue. I'm surprised this has not been recalled yet or even looked into.

Upon starting the vehicle, I turned the climate control to the defrost setting. After 5 minutes, no air was blowing to the windshield, only from the dash vents. No floor air, no defroster air, only dash vent air. Temperature adjusted from warm to cold just fine, however. I called the dealership that I purchased the vehicle from, was told to bring the truck in for a diagnosis at a fee to provide an estimate. I called a second dealership, was told by the service manager that by my description, the "recirc" door and "mode 1" door needed replacement. The "mode 2" door might also need replacement, but that my "blend" door is working. The estimated cost to repair would be around $1300. 00 to get my defroster functioning again. I asked if this was a common issue, he said it was very common. I asked if there was a recall on this issue, he replied that there were no recalls for comfort features, that he was aware of. I would think that the defroster was a safety issue for visibility while driving.
The doors that switch the air up to the windshield or to your feet or face started flapping back anfourth and then stuck ion blowing on your feet never switching again. Then before I could get back to the dealership to get fixed the whole hvac system quit working all except the fan switch, it still blows on your feet. When the system quit it also stopped my automatic headlight on switch to quit. You can't defrost the windshield how is that not safe. The truck had about 50000 miles when these started happen.
The contact owns a 2007 Dodge Ram 1500. The contact stated that when activating either turn signal the opposite turn signal light would flash. Additionally, the windshield wipers failed to operate properly at the highest setting. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 35,000.
The turn signals works sporadically I flip the signal left it will blink right and vice versa or they wont work at all at times also the hazard lights will not work. Along with these symptoms the windshield wipers will not work at the same times as the prior mentioned symptoms. I called the dealer to check vehicle recalls the service agent said there was not any recalls but this is a common complaint on the 2007 Dodge ram it is a very dangerous situation as it was raining during the last episode the visibility was extremely low and I was unable to properly let the other motorist my intention to merge out of traffic.
Wipers have started to only function when they want to. Even when on they will sometimes turn off or pause or go faster. Intermittent does not work properly, seems to have a mind of there own.
The contact owns a 2007 Dodge Ram 1500. The contact stated that the windshield wipers failed intermittently. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who diagnosed that the wiper module assembly and wiper vented motor housings were defective and needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure who did not offer any assistance since the vehicle was not included in NHTSA campaign id number: 09e009000 (visibility:windshield wiper/washer). The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 38,000 and the current mileage was 38,500.
The contact owns a 2005 Dodge Ram 1500. The contact stated that while driving 4 mph, the windshield wipers malfunctioned. The contact also stated that the windshield wiper motor was no longer working. I got the recall notices for the windshield wiper motor back in 2011 and had it replaced even though I had no issue with that motor. The new motor module assemblies had complete loss of the windshield wiper capability (a year after I had the motor replaced). I was driving that day in austin,TX with my one year old baby girl. It was pouring down heavy rain when the wipers complete just stopped out of the blue. I had to immediately pull over and wait for the rain to stop because I had no advisable what so ever. ( which could result in a crash! ) I immediately took the 08 Dodge ram to a Chrysler dealership and told them to replace it for me. They told me that I already had it done. I told them "to replace it again because a year old motor shouldn't of just stopped working. " they said, "they could make a appointment at a later date to bring it in so they can look at it for a day or two (( and that I will have to pay for the diagnostic test. "))) I said, "there is heavy rain in the weather forecast all week. I have a baby that I have to drop off at daycare every day because I am a full time student, and your going to let me drive this truck know my wipers don't work so y'all can one day take a look at it for two days and I'll have to pay for it ! no!" they said, "we can't replace your windshield wiper motor because you already had it done. ".
The contact owns a 2008 Dodge Ram 1500. The contact stated that the windshield wipers became inoperable. Both the dealer and manufacturer were notified of the failure and the contact was advised that the vehicle was not included in the recall associated with NHTSA campaign id number: 09v084000 (visibility:windshield wiper/washer:motor). The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 50,000 and the current mileage was 51,000.
The turn signal/wiper/lights assembly appears to have failed. When attempting to make a right turn signal, nothing happens. When making a left turn signal, the right signal happens instead. Now, everything has failed. No brights, no turn signals, no wipers. Researching on the internet, especially on the Dodge truck forums, it seems to e quite a common problem. In fact that is where I got the link to this form to fill out.
When the blinker is turned on, the opposite side blinks, or none at all. The wiper doesn't wipe at all times. These are unsafe driving conditions.
