When shifting my truck into park it hangs up and the indicator either reads park or nothing but the vehicle will not start due to still being engaged in gear. I t is also difficult to get out of park when it does go in. I spoke to my dealer about it and he said it was common and a valve in the transmission needed replaced since my warranty was out due to mileage it would run around $600. I did not see it as that big of a problem so I did not have it repaired. I left my truck running at a gas station one morning which I rarely do and while I was inside paying for a cup of coffee my truck took off in reverse and crashed into a utility poll. Us 287 was right behind the poll with very busy traffic. Also the fuel pumps were on the other side. I know several other people with the same model truck and the same sticky valve. I will never leave my truck idling or without the brake set. What if it was in my drive with my kids playing behind me. I went into my dealership after the accident and my dealer was unconcerned.

Dodge Ram 2500 - e17 safety recall
this warranty item was installed on my truck and now the horn honks often when I go from reverse to park. . . Or park to reverse the dealership is refusing to undo this recall. This is an unsatisfactory solution to the initial problem and many customers are complaining about this "fix". The current fix causes almost 100% false alerts. From a safety standpoint, there is no value here as the driver just becomes accustom to ignoring the alarm. . . Thus leaving the original danger in place. Please, if possible, pressure Dodge to either redo the recall and actually fix the mechanical problem with false-park issues or at least have them make the current "fix" more accurate.

Was in my Dodge truck in a parking lot. Started vehicle and pulled forward about 6 feet and felt like I had run over a bottle or can. With the engine running I began to exit the vehicle and after 1 foot was on the ground the horn started to blow and the vehicle went into reverse. It traveled backwards for about 8 feet before I could enter the vehicle and engage the brake. As it was going in reverse, the door hit a concrete pillar used to support parking lot lights and bent the door forward considerably past the point of normal opening. I had the Dodge e17 recall done to my 2003 Dodge Ram 2500 slt. The recall said it would be an out-of-park alarm. I thought it would be a buzzing or dinging alert. Instead it honks my horn. Now I can't back up to my trailer with my door open without waking my neighbors. I'm disgusted that nhsta approved this "improvement" and insist that a buzzing or dinging alarm be used instead.

Dodge refuses to fix a problem for which there is a service bulletin #2101605 I have been three times to get something done. The dealer says I am not covered by the bulletin, but that I do have the problem. The dealer called Dodge and they will not approve the repair. They say it is okay to have a 4 to 10 second delay in the transmission being operable when shifted into gear. The engines revs up and the truck rolls, until it finally catches into gear. I have 24,000 miles on my 2005 Ram 2500. I told them (on the third visit July 18) that I became aware of the issue being known about after some one told me it was a common problem. Dodge said they were unaware of it up until I provided proof otherwise. I need my vehicle fixed. My problem is getting worse. What good is my warranty when they will not fix a significant defect?.
