When my fuel goes below 3/4 of a tank, it dies on me. It starts to jerk like its shifting hard, then looses power. When I try to start it back up, it turns over but doesn't act like its getting any fuel. Then the battery goes dead. If I get gas and fill it back up it runs fine. I have spent many hrs broke down on the hwy. I was never in an accident.

Fuel pump has failed where plug attached to another plug inside the gas tank, which was extremely "hot" when removed. Also, noticed that fuel line that went to fuel filter had twisted/crimped. The vehicle acts like it was sturggling to get gas. No warning lights came on. Both of the plugs were melted together. Great force was used to pull them apart. The fuel pump was only working at 5o percent.
After driving vehicle for approximittly 15 min I parked to have lunch. While inside someone ran in and said a car was on fire. My car was towed to dealership and after investigation of fire I was told by the mechanic he had never seen any thing like this before, he said the gas line located behind engine had exploded from the inside out. Which in turn started a fire.
