Headlights Problems of Ford Edge

The headlights have been a porblem from day one. We changed them to a brighter bulb and we cant seem to get them adjusted. Door ajar has been replaced on the right rear and now is doing the same thing on the right front passenger door. Now the brake pedal seems "hard" when we push it and I have seen recalls for the brake booster yet it shows our Edge has no recalls. We will be taking it to our mechanic to be checked.

Headlights have burned out 3 times in the past 2 years. Both headlights burn out. Both high and low beams burn out at the same time. Both headlights were replaced within 3 months and 1 has already burned out. The dealer is recommending replacement of both assemblies at acost of 1400+. The vehicle has not been involved in any accident involving this area.

The low beam headlights are very dim, and when it's raining at night, it is almost too dim to drive safely. The high beams work fine, but the low beams are too dim to be effective.

The headlights are worthless. My Ford dealer adjusted them, my Ford body shop adjusted them, I adjusted them, and you still cant see to drive at night. They are not any good. Why have you allowed this to go on? I wrote to you when I first got the car and got nothing. What the hell ? no side to side adjustment is even provided for in the design, but more than that they don't provide enough light to light up the road. Iv'e put in new bulbs $50. 00 each, I've put in a whole new factory headlight $300. 00 and still can't see the road. Came home from kansas city last night 70 miles, 35 miles of witch was on interstate 49 and at times we has to guess where the road was. The car is a 2011 where have you been on this? I haven't talked to anyone who owns one of these who isn't fighting the same problem. We try not to drive the dam thing at night, but sometimes we get caught and have to. Are you waiting for us to get killed and we will quit bothering you? do your dam job, make Ford fix this problem! what are you doing about this???.

I am writing to complain of the poor visibility from the headlights on this vehicle. With low beam on there is a black out line about 30 to 40 feet in front of the vehicle which changes with elevation of the road. I drive in rural areas 80% of the time and have difficulty seeing far enough in front to drive safely. When on high beam it is difficult to see to the sides far enough to see any objects possibly entering the roadway. I am wondering if anything can be done to resolve this issue. Thanks for your time.

The headlights are too dim. The safety of my family is my main concern with this complaint. We live in an area where there are many animals that can and are out on the road. I have to be able to see better during the night time hours. The normal headlights feel as if they daylights are on. The high beams are even too dim. I feel like the high beams are the brightness that the normal lights should be.

I just purchased a new 2018 Ford Edge. The low beam headlights are so dim with night driving, they are unsafe. Shows barely enough light ( no brighter than a street light). You can barely follow the center line. After 100 years in business, you would think this is something that I would not have to worry about when purchasing a new vehicle. I think the low beam lighting should be replaced what a brighter led lighting. I'm concerned with my safety and my family safety. I can not see how his was overlooked by the people in charge of making sure a car is safe to drive in all conditions.

The headlights have no horizontal, only vertical adjustment allowed and can not be adjusted so as to light the road full width which, causes parked cars and such to be overlooked and possibly struck. I have had several close calls because of this problem when driving after dark. This is a major safety risk and should not be ignored. Ford motor CO. Must be made to correct this problem.

The low beam headlights are so weak that when the road is wet at night or when driving near ambient lighting such as street lights you can't see any markings on the road such as the centerline of the road. There is also exhaust fumes coming into the car when driving with the windows up or slightly rolled down and when the climate control system is in recirculating mode. These fumes make me dizzy and cause me to have blurry vision. I almost completely blacked out twice already and I owned this car for three weeks. I didn't know that Ford Edge had these problems and the salesman of course never mentioned them. These problems with the exhaust happen while driving slowly under 20 mph and at higher speeds on the highway when the recirculating mode is on with or without the air conditioning turned on. I have driven with the climate control totally off and still the fumes come inside the car. It's as if the body of the car is creating a vacuum that pulls the exhaust back into the car because I can have to climate system off and the windows open and exhaust gets sucked in. This car is s $36,000 death trap and I paid the full price so I'm screwed.

I purchased this car used. The headlights are extremely dim and unsafe to drive at night or early morning hours. I see numerous complaints on the internet and salesman acknowledges that these are known for this but Ford won't stand behind it. Now I'm struggling to find a way to resolve this.

I leased this 2017 Ford Edge in December of 2017. Upon driving it at night I noticed a very dim light on low beam showing the road. I thought it was just me but then I had my husband drive he also experienced difficulty in seeing the road when the headlights were on low beam. I took it to my dealer and they verified that the car has very low visibility on the low beams. Therefore there was nothing they could do. I contacted the Ford motor CO and they told me that car was performing as designed. That is my issue. I drive a lot at night and this is very much a safety concern. I have owned 6 Ford products in the past and have never experienced this type of lighting. I also have done my research thru the internet and have noticed many many complaints about the Ford Edge low beam poor performance. I believe the government should look into this matter. It is not safe to drive at night. I really hated to bring this to your attention but I feel there is a risk to Ford Edge owners. I was told by Ford that maybe I should look into aftermarket headlights but that sounded odd to me as I have paid $ 40,000 for a car with poor low beam headlights. I purchased this vehicle used and have had it for one year. The head lights are the worst headlights I have ever experienced on a vehicle. Headlights do not project adequately down the road on either high or low beam. Both high and low beams are not bright enough. Poor illumination above the road and to the sides. There are blind spots when going up a hill or turning a corner. I live in a rural area and it is very hazardous to drive this vehicle at night.

Headlights are inadequate. They are too dark for night driving. They do not adequately and safety illuminate the road. Autonation Ford in st petersburg, FL does not admit the problem even though the problem is well known and is well documented.

The halogen low beam headlights on the 2015 Ford Edge sel are extremely weak and produce very little light at night. They end up causing severe safety issues derived from poor nighttime visibility.

While driving at night- very poor low beam headlights, if its raining, impossible to see white or yellow dividing line. Very hazardous on two lane interstate highway. Found many similar complaints on other websites. No picture applicable. Suggest a road test on 2016 Ford Edge at night in rain.

Headlights lost brightness. Replacing bulbs does not fix the issue. There appears to be a hazy film on the inside of the round lower beam lens.

I bought this 08 Ford Edge sel awd with 74000 miles . Ive had it less than a year and had the following problems. * stalling. * loud clunking in reverse and jumps into gear. * front driverside and passenger side window pillars are big blind spot. Very dangerous almost hit pedestrians. * vehicle rolls back on small inclines. Almost rolled into vehicle behind me. Very dangerous. * vehicle struggles in reverse up small inclines. * driverside headlight was out for a month cause car needed software update. Truck stalled again today this time I turned off and on wouldn't go in reverse instead drove forward almost hitting parked car. . . Still have popping noise in front end clunking noise in reverse sometimes again. . Im starting to get nervous cuz my daughter was in the car with me. - emailed to Ford service center rep. Oct. 1st. Ford mechanics say there is nothing wrong with vehicle yet it has stalled 4x and has problems in reverse . Car has been in the shop 6x for same issue . Im tired of bringing it back and forth.

Headlights are projector beam style with a very distinctive cutoff at the top of the beam which makes impossible to see any distance when traveling on hilly roads. Also, the headlight beams are extremely narrowly focused directly ahead making it very hard to see anything to the sides when needing to make a turn. High beams are very weak.

Whoever thought these ece headlights are great needs to get off the drugs. Just bought a new 2014 Ford Edge. 2 nights ago was driving on a very hilly road. As I was coming up from the bottom, the cutoff line of these things kept me from seeing two people walking in my lane. When they came into the beam, I slammed on the brakes and scared the crap out of them and me. If I end up killing anyone because I couldn't see them because of these cutoff pos's, I'll be seeing you guys in court. I highly suggest you "build american" and get these cutoff things off american cars. Give someone who wears glasses a pair that have the top half of the lenses blacked out and see how they like it. Halogen headlights on low beam do not project very far down the road and do not illuminate at all above approximately 40 inches above ground level so it is impossible to read street signs when not in areas with street lights. They are aligned according to Ford specifications. Very hazardous. Aaa has conducted studies on this problem and it affects multiple manafacture'svehicles that use halogen headlights. This has been a problem since vehicle was new and dealer has no remedy.

The technician was unable to diagnose the brake failure. The instrument panel was replaced. After the replacement on the instrument panel the failure continued. The vehicle was not repaired. It was at night and the headlights were in automatic mode. I went to turn the high beams on by pulling the lever towards me (the lever should be pushed away in this car but I was used to my work van where I pull the lever), and the high beams just flashed on and then the headlights went completely out and my wife and I were in complete darkness driving 45 mph.
