From both a stop or after slowing down and upon accileration, the transmission will slip and then catch real hard. It does it when I start from a stopped position and it also does it when I slow down for traffic on the freeway then try to get back up to speed. When it catches it feels like the car has been hit hard from the rear. This is not during a fast start or fast accileration, it is from just normal driving, keeping up with normal traffic. It has happened on many occasions and is not consistant with when it happens. It happens only when the car is moving and happens both in town, on highways and freeways. It has happened at all speeds and in all weather. It causes a lot of fear and I can see me hitting the brakes sometime which could actually cause someone to run into me as a result. This is not normal and when I had it checked by the dealership they said the transmission is starting to slip. This is not a normal slip of the transmission, it is a complete loss of operation then catching and slamming the gears causing the vehicle to jump forward. I am certain that the transmission is being damaged with each occurrance. I want to emphasize that this happens under normal conditions, driving sanely, not hot rodding or fast accileration. It is just driving down the road with normal traffic. It has happened many times and I am always on the alert for it so if it starts I might be able to take my foot off the gas before it winds up to high to minimize the slamming of the gears. This has been going on since I bought the car with 105k miles on it the car has 245k now.

At 90,000 miles the transmission started slipping took it to the transmission shop did a diagnostic change the transmission oil and nothing came on the test they said there was nothing wrong with it it slipped again in a couple weeks I had to pull over put it in park started again and it went. After eight months of working good yesterday same slipping happened again took it to my mechanic did a diagnostic and again came out ok this is crazy. Planning a trip and he says I wouldn't take the car because you never know what will happen the transmission seems to be slipping but there's no recalls on it and read a lot of complaints on this why is there no recall?.
This is the second time I have taken my vehicle to the dealership for this issue. The vehicle is still under an extended warranty. The issue first occured June 5. As I was leaving work the transmission began slipping/hesitating from a stop or during acceleration. The vehicle would jump/jerk when pressing the gas pedal. Would not switch to a higher gear. When applying brakes vehicle would jump/jerk when trying to shift. Periods when the vehicle would get to speed then slip. There was no prior damage to vehicle to cause this malfunction. I took the vehicle to the dealership I purchased it, and left it with them after the service agent was barely able to drive around the block. After 2 weeks of calling the dealership to check the status of the vehicle, I was told that they couldn't find anything wrong with it, and returned the vehicle on June 19th, and has not driven the same prior to this issue. This morning, July 13th, when I pulled out onto the frontage road the vehicle would not accelerate to speed and hesitated. I was able to get off the roadway and took the vehicle back to the dealership for this issue.

Transmission slipping and downshifting hard - around 80,000k I started to notice that the transmission would bang when I put it in reverse. After that, other issues started happening - while pressing the gas pedal, vehicle would not switch to a higher gear. I'd have to come to a complete stop (in traffic!), put it in park, then try to drive again. Periods when the vehicle would get to speed then slip. Transmission would bang like I was being rear-ended. Changed the valve body, tss, and oss sensors. That worked for a while but now it's acting up again. Downshifts so hard and bangs while I'm driving at various speeds. I'm afraid it's going to go completely while I'm driving. There was no prior damage to vehicle to cause this malfunction.
Transmission is slipping and jerking. Engines revs high when trying to shift. I was driving on a city street when this problem started. I barely made it thru several intersections to a safe location. The car is undrivable and towed to dealer on 8/14/2017. Ford case number 19010926. Csm judy rizzo. No one from Ford will talk to me or return my phone calls.
Transmission disengages at random while moving in traffic. Once it occurs, vehicle cannot be moved under it's own power. Engine runs, but transmissions slips. High potential for being stranded in traffic and struck. Has occurred at least 4 times. Was able to coast to side of road. Electronics in dash act up, including service wrench and no speedometer. Apparently a known issue by Ford (TSB 07-21-11). Lots of common complaints online involving 2007-2008 model Edges. Related to faulty sensors (aa5z-7h103-b & aa5z-7m101-b).
When driving the car gear will slip into neutral and the vehicle will not accelerate, even when pressing on the gas. There is a "clunk" when moving the transmission from park into drive and the vehicle will not move.

The 2009 Ford Edge I own has been experiencing slipping and surges in acceleration while trying to maintain a constant speed at a 45-55 mph range. While decelerating the transmission slips and revs up and down causing the car to jerk forward and/or suddenly slow or stop. There are numerous TSB for the 2009 Ford Edge transmission ( TSB 10-21-2, 10-17-4, 10-9-9, 13-5-27. However, the TSB's state that they only cover 2009 - 2011 models built 3/13/2009 - 6/30/2010. The TSB's explicitly indicate the 6f50 and 6f55 transmission. My 2009 Ford Edge has a 6f50 transmission that happens to be built on 10/24/2008 and therefore, Ford is limiting its liability because a date range was placed on the TSB. Yet, my car exudes the same performance and flaws outlined in the numerous TSB's. As well, there are several other complaints on NHTSA related to the 2009 Ford that Ford is refusing to repair if it falls outside of the date range. This is a very shallow way of limiting liability and a lack of responsibility and ethics on Fords part, imo. I would like to point out that TSB 10-9-9 covered 2009 Ford Edge built between 12/11/2009 and 4/15/2010 and then TSB 10-21-2 extends the date range to 3/13/2009 through 6/30/2010. An investigation should consider if the 6f55 and 6f50 transmissions in general should be recalled. Given that my car meets all criteria other than a date for a well known defect, it appears Ford has found a great way to circumvent liability on poor designs and manufacturing and place the financial burden and safety risk on the consumer. I am requesting that an investigation be initiated to expand the tsbs related to the 2009 Ford Edge to a recall on the transmissions in question, 6f50 and 6f55. Currently, Fords only response is to request that I pay the repairs and keep the receipt in case the TSB expands to cover my manufacturing date. Complaining here is my resolution:).

The transmission is slipping at times where it won't move and surging at times where you have poor control over the vehicle. This just started at 88,420 miles when my wife was coming home from the store. The maintenance is up to date on the entire driveline of this vehicle.
At 60,000 miles transmission slipping. At 92,000 miles not engaging between 3rd and 4th gear. Cost to fix $3,000. At 65,000, water leaking front of on passenger side, spraying at times. Also fluild leaking on ground. Ford fixed. At 62,000 miles, heater went out. At 86,000 a/c went out. Cost to repair $2,800. At 84,000 miles ring broke on "boot". Cost to repair $350. At 91,000 miles ignition switch replaced. Ckeck engine stays on. Vehicle "clicks" and then dies. Biggest problem is when car will not start when, and when car refuses to get in gear when turning left.
The vehicles transmission slips then bangs into gear when accelerating after a rolling stop, accelerating from low speeds up hill, or at any speed after coasting down a hill and having to rev up to go back up a hill. Car feels like a rear end collision occurred.
Gradual problems with transmission while driving, occurred on freeway, surging, electrical problems with panel, no speedometer, airbag light on, tire pressure monitor inop. Transmission slipping, and had bang in reverse. Parked and turned off. When turned back on, transmission in complete failure. Had transmission rebuilt through firestone, $4300. 00.
I was driving under normal conditions at about 35 mph when the transmission seemed to be slipping and the wrench came on the dash and the car lost all power . I came to a stop and shut the car off and checked the transmission fluid and it was good. I started the car again and it would rev high but barely move. I got home slowly and parked it and when I came back out later and tried it, all the power was back and the wrench was gone and it didn't clunk into gears like it was earlier. I think by shutting it off and taking out the key for a couple hours reset a computer glitch in this car. I have heard many stories just like mine and speaking for many 08 Edge owners we want this recalled. This could result in tons of mechanic bills and unanswered issues for owners.
Bought my 2008 Ford Edge 3 years ago with no problems. Had some work done after a wreck year and a half ago. After the repair, it began jerking whether I was on the highway or city streets. I noticed that when it jerks, I lose rpms at the same time. I have to hit the gas to get it to accelerate. Feels like the gears are slipping and it doesn't happen t consistent speeds. Some days are worse than others and some days doesn't occur at all. It will also idle rough and had before jerked when going from reverse to drive. Also, April 2014, I was backing into a parking spot when the car completely died. I turned the ignition off and then started the car again. It started right up. That is the only time that has happened.
For over a year when my car had less than 100k and still under extended warranty my transmission started slipping and slamming into gear on takeoff. I took to Ford dealer ship and they ran disnostics and found nothing wrong but reprogramed the computer. That did not fix the issue. The car continues to todays to slip and slam on take off, the odometer bounces and the engine start cutting out/loosing power. Again the dealer said if the computer is not setting codes they cannot fix. Now at 110k out of warranty the problem continues just getting worse. I believe by reading the blogs that this is a large issue that Ford knows about but refuses to admit bad transmission design and will not recall. I think they should either fix the issue at their cost or buy back the vehcile. I am sure the main issue is the cost to Ford to fix the issue and they know what the problem is. They are more worried their stock holders that their customers. I guess they will need a bailout if they keep this trend up. I used to hold Ford as a quality company, with quality products, but no longer. The foreign car companies are producing a better quality product. I just want my car fixed or replaced. When starting to pull into traffic vehicle transmission engages hard and slips between 1st 2nd & 3rd. Vehicle does not do this continuously. Dropped it off @ dealership on 08/20/2012 and they could not replicate the problem and stated that computer did not show a code. Dealership advised that I bring it back when transmission was slipping or engaging hard.
There are three main issues with my 2007 Ford Edge. First the brakes make noises and sometimes work and sometimes don't. The tires kept going flat. I have replaced all 4 four tires and one front and one back tire twice now. The transmission slips frequently.
From a stop - attempted to accelerate - transmission slipped before engaging - took several seconds before finally engaging - had vehicle to dealership on five different occasions with some repairs but transmisson continues to slip.
The contact owns a 2010 Ford Edge. The contact was accelerating 30 mph from a complete stop when the transmission began to slip without warning. The failure recurred intermittently and the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer where the range sensor and valve body were replaced within the transmission. The failure mileage was approximately 800.
As I was accelerating the transmission slipped, jerked as the engine was shifting gears. It has happened multiple times (6) since I first experienced this.
2008 Ford Edge has a serious safety concern that needs to be addressed immediately. The Ford dealership and Ford motor CO. Refuse any more repair attempts of defective vehicle. While driving at speeds between 40-65 mph without any warning or symptom the vehicle will suddenly make an extremely loud bang and violent jerk of the entire vehicle as if being rear ended. This occurs so fast and quickly that it is over almost as soon as it began. This is such a frightening and distractive ordeal for not only the driver but also the other occupants that family is afraid to use the vehicle. It is as if the transmission slips for a second then violently reengages. The problem first occurred in may 2010 @ 48k miles. Now after 13k miles, 6 months and 7 tries at repair/diagnosis at Ford dealerships and hours on the phone with Ford dealers and Ford motor CO. The problem still exists! I really feel that Ford was just stalling and not admitting to defect/malfunction in order to let the 5yr - 60k mile powertrain warranty expire. The truth is no vehicle in the world is engineered/built to take this physical punishment and not fail. I believe if this issue is not resolved it will lead to a catastrophic failure, and I pray that no one is injured.
The contact owns a 2010 Ford Edge. The contact stated that the transmission began to slip, which caused the vehicle to hesitate when driving into traffic. The vehicle was taken to a local repair shop but they could not duplicate the failure. The transmission fluid was 1 1/2 quarts low when the vehicle was purchased. Ford was contacted stated that there was nothing they could do. The contact stated that Ford should replace the transmission. The current and failure mileages were 10,000.
Purchased a 2010 Ford Edge sel awd on July 27, 2009. On August 12, 2009, vehicle began bellowing smoke from the wheel wells. Brought the vehicle in for service to be told that the ptu seal was blown. They replaced the seal and installed a deflector so as to not be able to smell the burning fluid as quickly. Ford has been issuing technical service bulletins on this since 2007. Due to the fluid loss, it causes the transmission to slip. Ford continues to claim that it cannot duplicate the problem. Also, the engine is squealing loudly, due to the issues mentioned above.
