Stalling 2006 Ford F-250 6. 0 diesel, I was driving on the freeway with my 2 boys doing problay 60 mph in a 65mph zone when I noticed that the truck started first seemed to loose power then spurted, then 20seconds later the rpms dropped finding my self without no control of the truck what so ever, meaning it had no power brakes no steering and the engine completly shut off ! , coasting to the side of the freeway barely making it without getting rear ended ! I couldnt believe this. I got to the side of the freeway and tried for a good 5 to 7 minutes before calling triple a for a tow, then while waiting for them to arrive I tried it once again to start the truck and give it gas while doing so it fired up but for about 15 seconds it sounded like it was firing on 4 cylinders or misfiring then it went back to normal and made it home. I then took the vehile to the local Ford dealership, I don't know as of yet whats wrong with it but I can tell you I was scared over this happening!.

Stalling while driving at normal speeds. After taking it to gullo dealership while in TX, the dealership charged us $2100 and "fixed" the problem after replacing the pcm and rcm modules. The next day, the truck stalled on the highway! took it back to gullo dealership in conroe TX and after another week and help from Ford service they still can't fix the problem.

"ficm & icp recall" received a recall notice from Ford July 2005 in regards to faulty ficm and icp. The ficm was repaird August 2005 by a Ford dealership. Note, we did not have any issues with the truck prior to the fix. January 2006 we had to take the truck into the shop due to the engine running rough while idling and accelling; the ficm was replaced due to a short; the issue that was just fixed on the truck. The truck has been in the shop 5 times since January 2006 and has cost us over $11,000 out of pocket to try and resolve this issue that started after the inital recall fix. We have contacted Ford hdqrs and they advised to take the truck into the dealership which we did multiple times. Over the last few months the surging has become increasingly worse. While traveling in heavy traffic on i5 pulling a 30' 5th wheel trailer, the truck surged forward unexpectantly just missing the car in front of us. A few weeks ago I was stopped at an intersection, when I began to take my foot off the brake to move forward the truck surged forward 3 feet. I was lucky there wasn't another car close or a person in the street. Just the other day I was parallel parking and when I took my foot off the gas to back up a little the truck surged backward almost hitting the car in back of the truck. The truck also stalls just before coming to a complete stop occasionally. This issue has become extremly dangerous in that I don't feel safe driving the truck. I looked into the California lemon law and it sounds like the truck might be covered under this. We need to get rid of this truck but feel Ford does not stands behind their product. I have attached the recall notice and some of the receipts for the repairs done to the truck just in regards to this surging issue. I was only able to attach 5 documents but have many more if needed. Regards, mark smith.

This particular model and year with the 6. 0 litre engine (2005 ) is nortorious for the oil cooler to blow up leaving you stranded wherever. When it happened to me I was pulling a 33ft 5th wheel trailer and almost wrecked. Ford knows all about this faulty piece of equipment yet doesn't recall it and should be held accountable for replacing it. It cost me $6000 to get my truck fixed. The faulty piece was installed by Ford and should be responsible by Ford for repair costs.

While driving my f250 at 30 mph in town a warning alarm went off followed by display saying stop engine safely now. As I attempted to slow down for a red light the truck totally died in the intersection. The vehicle would not start and was totally incapacitated in the middle of the road at 8:30 pm in the rain with my wife and 3 children in the vehicle. Myself and 2 other guys were able to push it out of the intersection through traffic. I had to call for a wrecker and have it towed. The Ford dealer fixed it the next morning and advised it was a faulty exhaust sensor. Apparently this is common and they advised there is 4 of those sensors on the truck. It appears to be a huge safety issue to stall the truck while it is moving with no way to get it to a safe place to stop.

Egl cooler failure, white smoke coming out of the exhaust pipe caused by coolant entering into the emission system. "on all 6. 0 engines the egl cooler will fail. " this problem is so "massive" with so many "massive complaints from customers" that Ford has done two things 1) designed a by-pass kit and 2) re-designed the engine to eliminate the problem (6. 7 engine). When the egl cooler fails, Ford offers two solutions to the customer 1) install the by-pass kit and the problem is solved (at a cost of $4500) or 2) repair the egl cooler to bring it "back to factory" (at a cost of $4300). Ford tells customers that if option 2 is chosen, the "egl cooler will fail again". All quotes used are direct quotes from Ford's service department.

Vehicle stalled and stopped running in traffic on highway 231 in montgomery al. About 1 hour after second incidence of violent front end oscillation [see previous complaint (odi number) 10559219 ] . Called Ford roadside assist [I have 125k extended warranty] and had vehicle towed to nearest Ford dealership. There were no warnings of any kind from on board diagnostic systems . Vehicle was diagnosed with "evidence of water in fuel system" . There was no water present in system , no "water in fuel system" warning light , [has never lit up on this vehicle , had it checked in the past ,was told was functional], was told repairs were "not covered " . All service has been done to Ford specifications and at Ford facility. These repairs would not be necessary if the warning system was operable . I am in a business that sells, operates and uses diesels every day and all modern diesels have water in fuel sensors . Case is still open with Ford customer care . This needs documentation . There would have never been an issue if the truck's systems were operating properly. The repairs are more than I can afford for a truck that is under warranty. This is clearly a system failure .

2008 Ford f 250 super duty diesel 6. 4 engine - engine quit running with no warning, would not restart. Was in the middle of a long bridge over the mississippi river. This was a major inconvenience. Had to be towed to dealer. TSB 07-26-2 was performed to fix the known problem of an unprotected wire in the high pressure fuel pump gasket chaffing through. This was an expensive repair since the cab had to be removed. A revised gasket with protected wire was installed. Luckily I was not towing our 5th wheel at the time. This is a serious safety risk. Ford should recall and cover the expense to repair as this was a known design flaw.
