While at a dead stop, placed truck in drive and the engine suddenly accelerated to full power lunging the vehicle forward 10' while I simultaneously applyed both feet to the brake for maximum stopping power. This is the third time in two to three months this has happened. No check engine lights are on. Took my car to the local Ford dealer and was told by the service manager that they have never heard of this problem before. Researched the internet only to find lots of other simular complaints. Originally thought it was human error, floor mat, or simular problem. . . But this last time, I was prepared because of previous incidents. This problem can cause a terrible accident and may even result in death.
Had miss fires in engine this truck has never shown check engine light while driving down road at 70 mph the engine started missing check engine light never came on??? took truck to shop . The engine melted the tip off a spark plug in side the cylinder ,it destroyed the cylinder wall have to replace engine. My 2000 Ford f250 truck quit in the middle of a busy street in my town. There was a recall for a cam position sensor but did not have it replaced yet. I did have spare and replaced it myself. It did fix the problem. Also had a friend reset the check engine light.

I have had many engine problems with my 6. 4 diesel from loss of engine power , to lack of power , white /grayish smoke, hesitation , engine almost dying to acceleration and almost causing an accident, I even had an occasional engine light come on, gurgling sounds , whooping sounds and grinding ,metallic sounds coming from my engine. I was told by multiple dealerships that if there is no engine light there is no code if there is no code there is no problem. I was told that my truck was probably going through it's regen process and that the truck will perform poorly when this happens. I now have 9000 miles on my truck this started around 1000 miles and I'm still having issues. I have contacted a lawyer and I'm very disappointed with my vehicle and the dealerships , along with Ford motor company who now know I have this problem.
My 2002 Ford F-250 superduty (7. 3 diesel) truck broke down while coming back from the mountains. Check engine light. . . . Harsh banging in the drive train (almost like hitting a huge pot hole at highway speeds) and then the truck died. My truck and trailer had to be towed to eagle colorado (the nearest dealership). Sure enough, as I suspected and have seen from about ten other owners of these trucks, it was the camshaft position sensor. The repair was $237. 56. I only write today, because msn reports that Ford is finally recalling these vehicles due to the cps. How nice of them to do it after most of us have already broken down on the side of the road with this exact problem. . . I know I am only one guy and I only know 12 other people with this engine, but I think it is funny that everyone I know with over 60k miles has had this happen. My truck only has 58k on the odometer. Several of us carry a spare cps and the tools to replace it with us in the truck at all times. In case anyone wants to know, they seem to fail more regularly after they have been replaced.

2004 f 250 engine light illuminated , engine surged and ran rough. The vehicle also stalled. The dealer attempted to resolve the problem but each time the problem recurred.
Consumer states: reached 3,000 miles and the engine blew, out. Engine light came on. But consumer said may be piston. However, cam shaft fuse was bad.
The check engine light appeared on the dashboard and remained on. Driver took vehicle to the dealer, and mechanic determined that the problem could not be duplicated.

While braking the vehicle lurches forward and then it shuts down, which causes limited steering and braking abilities. The consumer has taken the vehicle to the dealer approximately three times, and was told that they couldn't do anything about it unless the problem occurred for them. On may 30, 2005 the consumer was driving the vehicle and had to brake because of the traffic in front of him, when this occurred, the vehicle lurched forward and the engine just cut out, like it was never started. This caused the consumer's vehicle to rear end the vehicle in front of him. The vehicle was taken to a body shop and it was repaired. The consumer spoke to Ford and was told that there was nothing they could do. Per consumer, none of the above is accurate. The consumer wrote: while braking, the rpm revved up, the vehicle lurched forward, then the rpm dropped and the engine had shut down. The check engine light illuminated. It would take several attempts to start the vehicle . This would occur intermittently. Each time the consumer had taken the vehicle in for repairs, the dealer would be unable to find the problem. Other problems: the cruise control was inoperative and the vehicle would die when the brakes were applied at times. Ford recalled the same make model years 2003-2005. The consumer felt that the recall started with his vehicle's year make and model.
Vehicle was driving poorly while accelerating and hesitated. Consumer noticed the check engine light flashed on, then flashed off. Consumer drove vehicle to the dealer for inspection. The problem could not be duplicated.
Without warning the vehicle died. Caller had to wait awhile to get it started. Dealer said they could not find anything wrong with vehicle. Caller took vehicle to dealer 8 times. Manufacturer has not been contacted yet. Caller said at the beginning the check engine light would come on, and dealer replaced something to fix that. Nothing gives him notice that the engine is going to die.
The vehicle will lose power with the engine light coming on, cause unknown. The Ford dealership has had the vehicle for three days, stating that vehicle was getting some sort of resistance. The vehicle was again failing with the same problem. The consumer states that he had taken the vehicle to another Ford dealer and they seemed to have remedied the problem-linkage accelerator. The windshield was leaking-resealed-still leaking. The vehicle has been okay since the last repair. Now the windshield is leaking water, and is running behind the dashboard. The consumer has also experienced the following: when stopping the vehicle feels like the drivline shifts forward-loud bang, when starting off, the vehicle shifts backwards, the connector is not fully seated(pcm module), and the injector harness intermittenly opens-repair loose left valve cover injector harness connector causing high resistance cleared.
