The torque converter output shaft fail, sudden loss of motive power with no warning. Takes too long for the shifts, stay on one shift for too long and wont change shift unless the driver stop accelerating. My vehicle seems to have the torque malfunction.

After stopping at a traffic light in my 2005 Ford Freestar the vehicle would not go forward. I had to be pushed to the side of the road until a tow truck arrived. However, after the vehicle was towed to my home I discovered that it would go in reverse with no problem, but when put into drive would slowly pull forward if on level ground. After speaking with a transmission repair shop I was informed that I had a faulty torque converter and that the 2004-2005 Ford Freestars with this problem were being recalled. Also, my third row seat will not properly latch.
After having the torque converter replaced as the recall says I noticed that the transmission was doing good but right outside the warrenty mileage I noticed that it started acting kinda like before after several months guess what as I was climbing up a hill on my driveway the transmission stopped pulling starting to roll backwards and making a grinding noise as for it to recall the torque converter then why has it once again almost like me with loss of all gears yet no new recall had been added why did it do this again?.

Driving down road and with no warning lost power pulled over and stopped started car fine but wouldnt go either forward or reverse when I checked fluid it was overfilled but I had not added or replaced any fluid spoke with Ford dealership and was told there was recall on this issue but when I enter VIN# into computer says 0 recall eligible vehicle has 115000 miles torque converter recall judgement 2012 for lifetime of vehicle I was driving at 55 mph on a busy highway creating very unsafe situation.
I was almost hit by a another vehicle when my vehicle torque converter given out on my family and me. It starts but will not shift in to gears.
I wrote on this yesterday but did some more research on this vehicle. There have been numerous recalls on these type of vehicles. Recall #12v006000 on the torque converter output shaft. Recall began August 9 2012. This is a serious matter I just recently purchased this vehicle to take my 8 grandchildren around. Now I won't even put them in it. I also found out there was a recall on the back seat. Recall # 13v081000. This is also a problem when your hauling around children. The undercarriage of the vehicle is really rusty. I wish I would of never bought this vehicle. It sure is going to be a money pit for sure. It only has 141000 miles on it. Very sad that Ford could make such a unsafe vehicle. I bought the vehicle and it seemed fine. 5 days into ownership the torque converter light came on while I was driving it. Drove it back home and started reading about how Ford has a recall on this situation and now I'm afraid to drive it anymore. This situation on these transmission has gone to court and Ford lost.
I just came across this website and wish I wrote this a year ago because I would have made a complaint then. I have had many issues with the lights flickering, coming on automatically when it rains, my interior lights staying on and actually catching fire because it had gotten so hot. My radio used to turn on by itself or not turn on at all, which has now been replaced. My van has literally died on me while driving more often at times when I'm making a turn or slightly moving my steering wheel. Has almost caused a few accidents because it shuts off without warning. My van will usually have a higher rpm when it's running in park or with foot on break(waiting at a red light). Then suddenly the rpms drop and fluctuate high and low and shut the engine off. My transmission is also starting to fail by not shifting properly. Usually into second gear. The indicator lamp light flashes with means error with the transmission. That is most likely due to the power train automatic transmission torque converter getting wet or it is powertrain automatic transmission. Also have issues with my my power steering the wheel knocks and sorta locks up at times , fluids have been checked and were perfect. I believe that it's associated with the steering hydraulic system failure.
Torque convertor defective in similar Ford Freestar models eddy's Ford dealership sold recall vehicle as is against state & federal laws and lied to disabled veterans about replacing the defective torque converter after discovery of recall caused piston hole engine block and transmission damage cutting out near dangerous bridge intersection.

My fiance was driving to work when she heard a clicking noise then a loud bang come from the transmission, she lost all power, if she hadn't responded to the situation and turn immediately into a church driveway she would have been rear ended! the van was in motion driving southbound on 257th st in the city of gresham. I was just now researching the van and saw Ford recalled 200,000 of this year's van dew to a faulty torque converter and other issues with the transmission.
My mom was driving our 2006 Ford Freestar limited, it only has 85,000 miles and the transmission blew on us. When it happened we were driving up a hill at night . We called the police and an officer came to just to make sure we didn't get hit. The flashers were on the whole time, but apparently people don't pay attention, later we had found out that the torque converter was no good. I did some research and found out that from 2004-2005 model years had a recall for the torque converter. Personally all years should have been on the recall and not just 2 model years. Its extremely dangerous and we actually had to bring the van back to dealership where we purchased it from. Currently we have been without a vehicle for months.
2fmza57624ba60230 2004 Ford Freestar has a torque converter recall which may cause the vehile to stall at suddenly without warning. As I was driving freeway speeds the van suddenly lost power as I was in the #3 lane on the bay bridge. With that being said, I tried to get to the safest location possible. Then had it towed to michael stead Ford and the diagnosis states that the torque converter doesn't resolve the issue. With the sudden loss of power and failure of the torque converter it lead to additional parts to be damaged and Ford motor company wont cover the damage.
Driving I-95 at 70 mph . Van s tach raced to 3k engine seem to loose power. Had van checked out said it was torque converter. This is a known reoccurring problem told to me by the car tech. How can a problem so big and dangerous be fixed such as faulty converters. What can one do.
takata recall 1)transmission/torque converter output shaft fail. Loss of control of my vehicle while in motion leaving my home in my neighborhood. Almost causing my children and I to wreck into a parked car.

When I was driving down the highway the vehicle started losing power but the engine was starting to race the vehicle slowed down to a stop causing me to be stuck in the middle of the highway with cars going around me the police came by and had to push me off to the side of the road to a safe place so I can have the vehicle towed . Found out the trans torque converter stopped working . Just like the recall 11s25.
I was driving home and transmission would not engage. I coasted out of the highway lane. I had it towed. I found out about the torque converter problem last night this van was well taken care of and no issues until now. It only has 80,000 miles on it. I also own a 2005 Freestar and the torque converter was replaced at the nearest Ford dealership due to a recall. Ford was currently in the process of recalling the 2004 and 2005 Freestars. Its the same part it seems to me that the 2006 Freestar should be included in this recall, as we have found numerous similar complaints from 2006 owners. Second calendar quarter of 2012. The recall campaign number is 11s25 for the 2004 and 2005. Anyone know if a recall for the 2006 Freestar is in process. Please help.

L was driving on the highway all of a sudden my car slowed down it would not go forward so l coaxed it into a parking lot, l waited about 10 minutes and put it in reverse and it would not go in reverse either so l got out and checked everything under the hood everything l could check so l called a tow truck service and had it towed to my home, l called a mechanic he looked at it and said it was the torque converter he also said that Ford had a recall on 2004 Ford Freestar vehicle for there torque converters so please tell me what to do thank you.
I was pulling out of my driveway, and my 2004 Ford Freestar limited keeps acting like it's not catching the gears correctly to shift. When my brother drove it later the same day he said it sounds like the torque converter was messing up in the transmission. He is an auto mechanic. It has about 90,000 miles. I just bought this van earlier last yr around April 2017, is there still a recall on this? thanks bridget at 9793931598 or bfranciski@yahoo. Com.

The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the torque converter failed. The dealer (witt family Ford, w1367 WI-160, pulaski, WI 54162) stated that the vehicle was not included in a recall and the contact would have to pay for the remedy. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact referenced NHTSA campaign number: 12v006000 (power train), but the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 130,000.
While driving 2006 Freestar around a corner without warning , it completely lost ability to go forward or backward or in any gear. We were on country road and grateful no other cars nearby, but it was cold and we are elderly. We just rolled to a stop trying to get off road as safely as possible. We had to have it towed to nearby garage. They replaced torque converter and car is now working again.
Just like with the 2004-2005 Ford Freestar recall in the year 2012 (recall number 11s25), our 2006 Freestar suddenly lost power with no warning while we were accelerating with the transmission in drive. We were lucky enough to be on a side street with not much traffic and have enough speed to safely pull over, but we had no power in any gear we chose, as if the transmission was stuck in neutral. If we were going slower, had traffic behind us, or no safe place to pull over, we might have been rear-ended. The way the vehicle behaved, it seems to be the torque converter shaft and/or torque converter, just like the problem in the 2004-2005 Freestar models which had the recall in the year 2012 (recall number 11s25).
Tl-the contact owns a 2015 Ford Freestar. The contact stated that while stopped at a traffic light the vehicle would no move. The contact stopped and restarted the vehicle and she took the vehicle to an independnent mechanic dealer and they said it was the pcm valve and it was replaced. The issue happened again with the vehicle not accelerating from a stopped position . The vehicle was taken to a dealer bell Ford 1200 NJ-27, colonia, NJ 07067 (732) 388-6900 and they repaired two recalls for the torque converter and seat latch mounting brakets. In process of performing the recall repairs, the lugnuts were damaged and both axels had to be broken along with the front pipe assemply and the power steering line. The oil pan was also damaged during the recall repairs. The dealer said all of the damage parts and the recalls were finally repaired. The contact was driving home the vehicle issue happened again but the dealer refused to retake the vehicle . The vehicle sat at the house for a year and the contact called the manufacturer. They spoke to the dealer who stated that the recalls were not done when they told the contact that they had been completed. The dealer also charged the contact for the recall repairs. The vehicle was currently at an independnent mechanic still unrepaired. The manufacturer stated thatn they have no programs to assist the contact. The failure mileage was 130,000. Tf.
The torque converter went out just like the 2004 and 2005 Freestar models.
While driving my 2004 Ford Freestar minivan, at approximately 45mph (miles per hour), the vehicle begins to shudder as if I am driving over rumble strips and when climbing slight or steap inclined hills the shidder worsens. I purchased the vehicle ised from a car lot. I have moticed that all of the Ford Freestar roums state that there is a recall on the torque converter. I looked up my vinfor recalls and it states that there are no recalls fornmy vehicle. I wonder if the original recall has already been taken care of by the previous owner and the replacement part is faulty as the ms. Azose v. Ford motor company class action lawsuit states it is. Any insight on this matter would be extremely helpful. Thanks.
While in motion the vehicle transaxle light comes on. The vehicle sticks in first gear while in motion or it slips from the stationary position and when in reverse. The transmission shop stated it was the torque converter.
