1 Seats problem of the 2020 Ford Mustang

Failure Date: 07/25/2025

On [xxx], I was involved in a front-left collision while driving my 2020 Ford Mustang gt (VIN: [xxx] ) with my [xxx] daughter in the front passenger seat. She weighs approximately [xxx] and was properly seated with her seatbelt fastened. The only airbag that deployed was the driver’s knee airbag. The front passenger airbag did not deploy at all. After the accident, the Fordpass system reported multiple “restraints indicator lamp warning” alerts, all timestamped the day of the crash, stating: “your air bag warning is on due to an issue with the front passenger air bag system. The front passenger airbag may not work properly. ” this alert was not visible on the dashboard prior to the crash and was only discovered after checking the app. This failure of the airbag system placed my daughter at serious risk. A properly seated child passenger of sufficient weight should have been protected. The vehicle had approximately 19,177 miles at the time of the accident and had no prior airbag-related service or known damage. The crash occurred at normal road speed during a left turn when another vehicle impacted my front driver-side area. My vehicle is currently with the insurance company and available for full diagnostic inspection by NHTSA or the manufacturer. The passenger-side OCS and srs systems should be investigated for sensor failure, deployment failure, or manufacturer defect. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

2 Seats problem of the 2016 Ford Mustang

Failure Date: 11/30/2024

Smoke came up from under both seats within a few weeks of each other, found burned harness and plug at both heated/ cooled seat control modules mounted under seats. Researched and found a fix that will cost hundreds of $$ per seat but no recalls. I would think smoke and burning electrical in the interior of nearly all Ford products with heated/ cooled seats would be a safety recall?.

7 Seats problem of the 2016 Ford Mustang

Failure Date: 01/26/2023

While driving at 65mph with both heated seats on, I noticed a burning smell in the cabin. I assumed this was from an external source, but was prepared to pull over on the highway if I saw smoke, which I did not. The following day, I noticed the heated seats of my vehicle no longer worked, although the lights indicate they were on without any issue (implying power was still being supplied). I searched google to determine if this is common, and to my disappointment, it seems that a number of Ford vehicles fitted with heated seats have suffered the same failure: the power connector to the module controlling seat heating/ventilation had melted. I first checked the 30a fuses in my vehicle to see if they had blown, and confirmed they had not. I safely unplugged the affected cable on my vehicle from the seat, which required pliers because it was melted to the connector, only to confirm that my power connector had melted. I have identified that fixing this issue requires replacing the wiring harness, this can be done at home for $100 but should be done by an auto electrician. Ford appear to be quoting $700-$1100 for the same fix, encouraging individuals to undertake the work themselves without the expertise to do so. Had the scarf that was in my passenger foot well been near the connector, it's entirely plausible that this issue would have caused a fire in my vehicle and put mine and others life at risk while I was driving at highway speeds. I will make my vehicle available for assessment to the manufacturer and interested parties, and keep the cable disconnected until it is replaced. I will not pay for this repair given the issue is something that should not be a problem in the first place, and that is not expected to be part of a vehicles regular maintenance.

8 Seats problem of the 2015 Ford Mustang

Failure Date: 07/27/2022

Heated and cooled seats are not sufficiently grounded, causing burnt wiring beneath passenger seat, overcurrent to blower motor. This issue applies to multiple makes and models using the Ford\motorcraft wire harness part number wpt-928.

9 Seats problem of the 2017 Ford Mustang

10 Seats problem of the 2017 Ford Mustang

Failure Date: 10/01/2021

The contact owns a 2017 Ford Mustang. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, there was a burning odor coming from the front seats. The contact stated that the vehicle was not taken to be diagnosed or repaired. Neither the dealer nor the manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 40,000.

11 Seats problem of the 2016 Ford Mustang

Failure Date: 06/29/2021

Seat heater and cooler no longer working. Problem looks like the module burned the connector. Plastic female end is burnt black and the plastic is melted. Concerned that this is a fire safety issue.

12 Seats problem of the 2016 Ford Mustang

Failure Date: 03/01/2021

Heated and cooled seats stopped working. I checked some forums and found out it was a very common problem. This pin for the ground on the wire assembly that controls the seat is the only one, and it is common for it to completely burn out as seen in the picture. As it's in the cabin, underneath the passenger seat, it is very dangerous for it to be burning this way.

13 Seats problem of the 2016 Ford Mustang

Failure Date: 02/03/2021

I smelled a burning smell when turning on seat heater. Seat heater no longer provides heat, but indicator switch light up as if heater should be on. The burning could have led to fire in passenger compartment of vehicle. I have not taken the vehicle in to have this serviced. I inspected the wiring harness and the “m” pin is clearly burnt (I have photos). There were no warning lights. I can press switch to turn on seat heater and the lights turn on as if the seat heater were working, but no heat.

14 Seats problem of the 2015 Ford Mustang

Failure Date: 01/07/2021

Heated/cooled seat module shorted, burned, and melted the wiring harness. Seat function is no longer operative.

15 Seats problem of the 2016 Ford Mustang

Failure Date: 12/18/2020

The heated and air conditioned seats stopped working although the dash indicator shows that it is on. A search of the internet shows that it is a very common problem on 2015-2016 Mustang models. The connector under the passenger seat shows a severely burned connection as indicated in the attached photo. This appears to be a very serious and potentially dangerous problem that needs to be addressed via a recall.

16 Seats problem of the 2019 Ford Mustang

Failure Date: 10/20/2020

On October 20, 2020 I was driving my 2019 Ford Mustang 5. 0 gt to work. As I was driving down the highway, I began to smell a burning plastic odor. It got stronger so I pulled my car over on the shoulder to inspect it. I got out and got down on my knees to check around my steering column, under my dash and driver seat but saw nothing however the odor of burning plastic got stronger. I went around to the passenger side and did the same inspection as I did on the drivers side. As I was doing this, I looked up and saw smoke coming from up under my driver's seat. I ran around to the driver's side and fire was coming up from under the seat and shooting up the back of my driver's seat. I grabbed my purse and work booklet, grabbed my phone and dialed 911. The inside of my car was completely engulfed in flames in less than 1 minute. Traffic stopped on the highway due to the small explosions and flames. Fire trucks, highway patrol and sheriff's started showing up and a short while later the car was finally extinguished and towed away.

19 Seats problem of the 2015 Ford Mustang

Failure Date: 02/20/2020

Climate controlled seats stopped working. While diagnosing the issue I found that connector c3265b on the front seat climate control module was burned severely and melted.

20 Seats problem of the 2017 Ford Mustang

Failure Date: 01/20/2020

For the second time my heated/cooled seats failed. This time Ford replaced the connector with an updated module with additional ground wires. The original connector showed burns and the issue presents a fire hazard under the passenger seat. While Ford gave me a "break" on replacing with the upgraded connector, it still cost me $250+ and doesn't address the fire hazard that the original connection presents to the car that they have not fixed.

21 Seats problem of the 2015 Ford Mustang

Failure Date: 11/30/2019

Water has leaked into the cabin of the car from the passenger side window. The leak appears to have come from the corner of the window seal and made it's way into the cabin and creating a stand pool of water. Water pooled on the rear floor and made it's way up to the front of the passenger side. The vehicle sat over the weekend from 11/26/2019 to 11/31/2019. I was not with the vehicle during this time. I locked the doors and rolled up the windows knowing rain was in the forecast. The vehicle sat at my place of residence during said weekend.

22 Seats problem of the 2014 Ford Mustang

Failure Date: 02/13/2019

While driving on a highway or city street I have my seat warmer on in my drivers seat after a short period, the back of my seat gets so hot that I can't lean against it. It got so hot that it burnt the middle of my seat. The burn mark is about the size of a dime. I have heard that some cadilacs have caught fire due to seat warmers. .

26 Seats problem of the 2012 Ford Mustang

Failure Date: 11/03/2018

I was driving and pulled over because my back was being burned. My driver's seat caught fire due to heated seats malfunction. Fortunately smothering the fire didn't require help from the fire department. I called marcotte Ford. They told me it would cost $85. 00 just to look at it. I called the Ford corporation. Ford refuses to take accountability. The least they could do, is disable the button so there isn't risk of starting another fire.

28 Seats problem of the 2015 Ford Mustang

Failure Date: 01/12/2018

I am writing to formally request an investigation into a potential recall issue regarding a heated seat module and module plug on my vehicle. Below are the details of my vehicle for your reference: * make/model: 2015 Ford Mustang ecoboost * VIN (vehicle identification number): [xxx] * mileage: 183,367 I have encountered a burning/melted plastic smell along with smoke coming from my heated/cooled seat module box while operating the vehicle. This issue has impacted safety, and reduced functionality. I have contacted the dealership, and had the part inspected but the issue persists. Upon reviewing similar concerns online and through forums, I noticed other owners reporting comparable problems, starting with many different 2015-2020 Ford model vehicles, which leads me to believe this may be a widespread issue. I respectfully request that Ford initiate an investigation to determine if this problem warrants a recall. I also ask for guidance on how to address this issue in the interim to ensure the continued safety of myself and others on the road. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

30 Seats problem of the 2007 Ford Mustang

Failure Date: 06/15/2016

"takata recall" my driver's side has been "repaired" but I am continually told that the parts have not been received to repair the passenger side. Also, the gears in the electric driver seat are cheaply made of plastic and quit allowing the seat to move forward and back. All motors work fine but the way the seat is made you can't just replace the gears. This stopped working after the dealership worked on something else on the car seat (lumbar air bag).

35 Seats problem of the 2011 Ford Mustang

Failure Date: 06/05/2015

Mustang 2011 hood edge has blistering paint in several places. Eclectic drivers side car seat stopped working, unable to adjust to a correct position, which affects driving safely, puerile low profile tires became weathered and cracked to the point of being unsafe to drive at 24,000 miles, I had to replace all 4 bad tires. I had a flat tire due to cracks in my tires and was informed they were unsafe for driving. I feel ripped off that my car feels unsafe to drive and is also now rusting. I'm attaching only one photo of a tire side since I'm still looking for my other photos with the weather rotting and huge cracks.
