I own a 99 Ford Ranger that has a problem of excessive outerwear on the right front tire. I've replaced the tire twice and tried to have the vehicle aligned by big o tire in vallejo, CA. I was told that every other Ford requires an after market camber kit installation in order to perform a front-end alignment. I visited wilson-cornelius Ford in vallejo, who confirmed that it is a common problem. I called Ford's customer service who was no help, because the three year manufacturer warrantee has expired. Additional, Ford refuses to look at the vehicle at their own expense. I content that this is a manufacturer defect and should be repaired at Ford's expense. On the positive side, I was able to purchase a camber kit (part # fmc f5tz3b236a), which are merely two identical specially designed bolts that cost $41. 98/each. This just does not seem right, nor should one expect to incur costs to make a vehicle adhere to a manufacturer specification. Please help. Thank you.

Front end knocks at idle speed. Took to dealer 3 times they say it is characteristic for this make & model. Called Ford, took truck back to dealer again that is when they called it characteristic. But told dealer & Ford just started doing this. Both said they were going to do nothing, noise still there. All I want is it fixed, I feel it is not normal for any car/truck to have front end knock at idle speed. *****dims 11 ivoq entry posted after 12/12/02 cut-over to artemis******769320.
Consumer states before now, the vehicle shuttered on the passenger side while driving from 35 mph up to 50 mph. Now the vehicle shuttered severely all over when driving at any given speed. This condition has caused excessive front wear on the tire. Dealer and manufacturer were notified and both informed the consumer that the vehicle was not covered under a recall. Feel free to provide any further information concerning this issue and fill out the questionnaire.

Vehicle is pulling to the right side. Right/front tire feels as if it is going to buckle up under vehicle. Please provide any further information.
A piece of tire flew off and made a loud thud sound in the wheel-well. Tire then began to fly apart while driving at 65mph. Truck began to swerve off the road when I began to apply the brakes. Tire came off the rim before we could stop. Bell Ford and firestone dealer told me the tire was not under warranty as it happened while I was driving the vehicle. They called it a "road hazard. " "hazardous tires" would be more accurate. Another couple brought in a tire just like ours with the same problem. We were both turned away. We have replaced all five tires on the vehicle because of the nature of the situation and the danger we felt. I have had flat tires on the freeway before, but I have never had a tire disintegrate into hundreds of pieces or come off the rim like that. Please advice NHTSA of poor quality of this firestone product which Ford motor company uses on their new vehicles. Thank you for your help to the comsumers. (dot number: 027476 tiresize: 70r15).
