I was driving to work the day after a snowstorm in our area. Suddenly, the windshield wipers stopped functioning. I asked the service people at my local Ford dealer about this problem. They told me that ice probably accumulated in the vent in front of my windshield and I should pour hot water into the vent to thaw the ice. I can't do this whenever it snows and I'm on the highway.

Windshield wipers go off without touching the switch.
My windshield wipers turn-on on their own and operate at varied speeds regardless of my control. I cannot shut them off and sometimes cannot turn them on. I've had the gem module replaced at my own expense yet the situations continues. Also my interior light will turn-on on its own and I too cannot get it to shut off at times.

Windshield wipers come on randomly at any speed or weather condition, staying on up to 10 seconds at varying intervals - causing distraction especially at higher speeds. Also, the fastest wiper setting does not work reliably (generally never works) at higher (40+) speeds, making it difficult to clear the windshield in hard rainfall.
