Five problems related to car will not start have been reported for the 2008 GMC Acadia.
My 2008 GMC Acadia would not start and the key could not be removed from the ignition. The vehicle was towed to a GMC dealership. The mechanic diagnosed that the sunroof was leaking into the headliner and going straight to the fuse block. I had to replace the fuse block, battery as well as seal the leak around the sunroof and cowl. GMC refused to pay anything towards this repair and will not issue a recall. I spent $1,200 just to fix this due to GMC's poor craftsmanship. Mileage of car is 104,00.
The contact owns a 2008 GMC Acadia. The contact stated that the vehicle failed to start intermittently. The vehicle was taken to a dealer. The technician diagnosed that the fuse panel was corroded and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.
It started as a very rare incident. When we heard about the heavy key chain problem we took everything off our fobs but two keys. When the key was turned, the ignition would make a strange clicking noise and all of the electronics would turn off. The key would have to be removed, reinserted, and the car started before everything could be reset. On one other occasion besides it's final meltdown did it refuse to release the key and run the battery down. Last week, on 12/10/14, I drove thee car and it acted up 3 times. We decided it was time to put it in the shop. It opened with the fob that night but refused to re-lock 2 hours later - everything dead. New battery so shouldn't be dead. Tried to start - ate key and refused to release until late next day after trickle charge put to it. Since then - all electronics work now and then but car will not start. Warranty ran out 2 days ago. Sucks!!!.
Car will not shut off after removing key from ignition takes a minute for car to shut off car would not start next morning intrunent panel shows multipal problems have read online consumers with same problems who is responsible for this issue. Need help have had vehicle fpr three weeks was not told by dealer abought problems with electrical have printed all other complaints on line and will show to dealer I would hope that GMC does not approve with these actions. Also have problem with sreering it makes a loud clunking sound when turning steering wheel this coul be a serious safety issue to my family.
Purchased used Acadia 10/6/11 and in December 2011 had to have battery replaced because would not start. Two weeks later car would not start again. Took to dealership who discovered sunroof drain had been plugged and caused the whole undercarriage to flood and shut all electrical power down. I hear from people that there had been a recall on the sunroof drain for exactly this problem. How can a dealership sell a car that has had a recall not taken care of??.
