I purchased this vehicle from a dealer, I instantly fell in love with it. Loved the room and all the features. I have owed this for less than a year. One day I had noticed water coming into the vehicle. I noticed it mainly under the drivers floor. It looked minor since the rugs are black and I have rubber floor mats. The real issue happen while driving my airbag light came on and on my message center stated to service air bags. I didnt have a chance to address the issue since this happen around the holidays. I decided not to drive my GMC until I could get into a gm dealer. I called to make an appointment with a locale gm dealer 2nd week of January took time from work to address issue and to address the tailgate recall. I ask them to find out why my airbag light was on and if service was needed. It was determined by the tech that there was heavy water in my vehicle that leaked into the air bag modular that is located behind the glove box. It also damage the airbag sensor located in the floor under the rug. My husband advised a rep at the dealer that the issue may be the water channels. But per the tech it was determine that the front windshield was cause of the water per the tech the drains on my sunroof were working and was not the issue for the water. I was advised it was going to cost me $4200? to have the airbag floor sensors, airbag module replace, new rug installed and windshield replaced. It cost me $3200 to fix without having the rug replaced since my concern was the airbag communicated with the veh. No vehicle for 5 days, rug aired/dried by dealer and fixed. I got veh back on Friday less than 72 hours later call to gm dealer. Water is still leaking in same location same issue, water is not resolved afraid that the water is going to cause a further damage to vehicle and airbag. Im surprised that there has never been a recall for this issue?.

GMC transmissions are crap, going on the third one. The airbag light is on for what the recall is for but GMC is denying the recall.
The contact owns a 2008 GMC Acadia. While driving approximately 55 mph, the passenger side air bag warning indicator illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer (cable dahmer Chevrolet in independence, missouri) where it was diagnosed that the seat sensor on the passenger side needed replacement. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 138,000.

Also, the air bag warning indicator illuminated. The air bag light has been going on intermittently since around 2013. The first repair was completed due to a recall notice back then. The light came back on again shortly after, repaired one more time. The air bag light came on a 3rd time, and vehicle was take to another gm service center for repair. They performed this repair in 2016, and noted they repaired a broken clip, but allegedly was a different problem that the one the recall addressed about 2 years prior. Now a few months after this last repair, the air bag light came on again. The gm service center is diagnosing a completely different problem than the first recall, and different than their last repair. This one they are noting a problem with the "right front side deployment loop" and recommend that the passenger seat air bag be replaced. As a consumer, whether the air bag light is "not part of the recall, and you can only get the recall work done once", this is extremely concerning that this vehicle has had so many issues with the safety devices at no more than 5 years of age. This should not be happening with any safety devices on any vehicle that is only 5 years old (although the air bag system has continuously been defective since age 1 of the vehicle). General motors bears an enormous liability with selling vehicles that have continuous safety defects, especially at an early age of the vehicle.

I have repeatedly had problems with the airbag. It has been repaired 4 times and continues to have frayed wiring which disables the airbag. This is a major safety hazard on this SUV and has been recalled for issues more than once. I was told by the dealer- d'ella GMC that if the airbag light is on, it wont deploy in an accident. Another recall should be issued since there are numerous postings on the internet about the problem.
Airbag light came on for no reason.

When driving my service air bag light would come on as I move around in front passenger seat. Now it stays on all the time.
Service air bag light comes on periodically (started in Jan 2017). Light only came on for about 10-15 seconds then the air bag indicator would light up. Took to dealer 2/2/17). Dealer indicates that there is a problem with the passenger seat air bag sensor. It goes on and off sporadically. Dealer stated that putting electronics on seat can cause this problem. There is nothing in the manual about not putting cell phones/pads/etc on the front seats. Upon researching issue on internet, this appears to be a common issue with 2008 Acadias. Per dealer, this is not covered under any warranties, recalls or service bulletins. Seems to me that a faulty air bag sensor should be a safety issue under a recall. Issue has progressively gotten worse.
The airbag light has been on and off for the last two years or so until recently when it is on consistently. When I have brought it in the past to be looked at at the GMC dealer, the light was not on so was told they couldn't do anything. Now, that it is on, they say it is a safety hazard and isn't working properly on the passenger side, but wants to charge me over $900 to fix it. Says it is not under a recall, yet other GMC Acadias (same year) did have it recalled.
Service air bag light comes on and off intermittently. The frequency is unpredictable and it may be weeks in between occurrences. It will come on and go off sometimes when the vehicle is stationary or sometimes when it it is in motion.

We have had the vehicle back to the dealer 3 times for items related to the air bag system recalls since 2015. At one point we were asked to turn the car off and see if the light goes out once the car is re-started. Well, the air bag light is back on and once again it won't go out. I am waiting for it to randomly deploy while my wife or myself are driving it.

The contact owns a 2015 GMC Acadia. The contact stated that the service air bag warning indicator was illuminated. The dealer diagnosed that the air bag warning sensor needed to be replaced. The air bag warning sensor was replaced; however, the failure recurred. While the vehicle was being repaired for the third time, the rear air bags deployed independently. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 18,000.

The contact owns a 2008 GMC Acadia. The contact noticed one arm was fractured on the liftgate. The contact's daughter sustained injuries to the hand, but did not require medical attention. The dealer diagnosed that the arms needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. In addition, the contact stated that the vehicle failed to operate. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where the cause of the failure was undetermined. In addition, the side air bag warning indicator illuminated contiuously. The manufacturer was notified of the failures. The VIN was not included in NHTSA campaign numbers: 15v415000 (structure) and 14v118000 (air bags). The failure mileage was unknown.
The contact owns a 2007 GMC Acadia. While driving at various speeds, the traction control and air bag warning indicators illuminated on the instrument panel. Also, while attempting to make a left turn and accelerate, the vehicle would not respond. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the air bag module failed and would need to be programmed. The details for the diagnosis of the traction control could not be provided. The vehicle was not repaired. The VIN was not included in NHTSA campaign number: 07v062000 (air bags). The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 158,000.
Intermittent "service airbag" light. Started coming on spring 2016. When front seat passenger sits in the seat and vehicle is moving the airbag light will go on and off and the service airbag message appears. Now the "service airbag" light is always on. Took it to dealer who said its the passenger presence sensor which costs $1300 to repair (after reading all the complaints this appears to be the highest quote). I already paid $110 for the dealer to diagnose the problem. Now the car has failed virginia state inspection and I will be forced to sell it or repair it. I need to get this fixed as soon as possible but with all of the complaints I don"t know why there hasn't been a recall. My VIN# doesn't fall within the range. The symptoms are the same as other vehicles covered within the scope of the recall. I would hope that it would be replaced under #10085d: customer satisfaction - airbag readliness light/service airbag message - replace connectors - (Sep 1, 2011) or #10335b: special coverage adjustment-airbag readiness light/service airbag message-reroute wire harness/replace connectors - (Mar 14, 2011) 2007-2009 GMC Acadia. How can I get some assistance with this? GMC should fix the sensor at no cost to consumer.
I have had service air bag lights come on all the time along with service stabletrack and and I think something with the fuel when I get gas it makes weird sounds and won't start without pumping the gas to get it started.
Tl-the contact owns a 2007 GMC Acadia. The contact stated that the air bag light remained illuminated and displayed that it was inoperative. The vehicle was taken to a dealer to be repaired and it was diagnosed that the air bag module needed to be repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The failure mileage was 74,000. Ad.
For the 3rd time in <1 yr, the airbag light came on. The 1st time they had to replace the passenger side air bag,lay 15k miles, the 2nd time, they repaired the electrical connection at 19k miles, this last time they had to replace the tensioner kit at 22k miles. These air bag issues should not be happening this often when I've only had the car for 15 months and bought it new.
In September 2014, recall #14187 was preformed and repair on my vehicle. However now is September of 2015, while driving my vehicle, the service airbag light started coming on. Took to dealership to look at under air bag light special coverage and was told it was not covered. Issue for the service airbag light I was told is due to the front seat belt retractor on the driver side. Call gm to complain. Was told original recall was repaired. It seems that this is still an issue even after the recall was done. Now it is the seat belt retractor instead of the tensioner.

Service airbag appears in message center has been coming on for the past year. When front seat passenger sits in seat and vehicle is moving the airbag light will go/off and the service airbag appears. Sensor not working properly, should be recalled. Has been occurring more frequently.
Passenger airbag indicator is always on "off" no matter who sits front passenger seat - large heavy man or lightweight adult.
Air bag light was on and passenger sensor light for airbaq not working. Had the repairs done for $795. 00.
Air bag lights on dash came on saying "service airbag", took to my mechanic and he read the codes which came back as 20 & 81 for the main passenger side airbag. He said it means it's not getting a reading and possible solutions were either the sensor or module for the airbag needing replacement. He advised me it was very dangerous because the airbag is essentially not working and if an accident were to occur that it would probably not deploy. He also stated only a certified dealership could fix it and they want $150 just to diagnose the problem even though I've already had it diagnosed. I feel anything having to do with airbags on a vehicle should be taken care of by the manufacturer whether or not the vehicle is under warranty, especially since no one will repair them besides a dealership and that is a huge safety issue. People can die!.
