The airbag light is on. Sometimes it will go off, but the light is on most of the time on the instrument panel. I spoke to the service department at our local dealer and they did not care and said we would have to bring it in another time to hook it up to their big machine. I want this issue resolved. I have had this vehicle serviced for recalls (wiper motor & cluster gages). My wife drives this vehicle and I would like to make sure it is safe for her to continue driving it with this light on and no danger of the airbag deploying.

My service stabilitrak and air bag lights has been on since I purchased the vehicle. I have taken it to a mechanic and they stated that they did not see a problem. I was wondering if this is an on-going issue and if there are any recalls for this.

The service air bag light is always on. When it was purchased the light was off. It was taken in for service back to the dealer before the 30 day warrantee was up due to radio issues (buzz) they worked under the back seat on a device and under the dash below the steering column to resolve. The sound returned and they replaced a part under the back seat. A few months later these new issues started. The service air bag light is always on recently the service stability control light has started. This is intermittent. Please advise. Fyi: there is a few bulletin boards where a lot of other people are experiencing the same issues.

My airbag light remains on, indicating that there is a problem. The dealer claims that the bag will either not deploy, or suddenly deploy for no reason unless I replace it. I was told this was not part of the recalls. . . But it is clearly a safety issue. I don't feel that I should pay for the replacement.
I was driving down the highway and all of my instrument panel gauges stopped working and the indicator lights came on for the entire system. This problem continues to happen and GMC will not fix this problem. They say I have too many miles and that my vehicle is not part of the recall. This now continues to happen and the whole electric system is in failure, I can't start the vehicle now and this is 2013. Chronic ongoing problem that poses major safety issues with speed, fuel and much more.

Right after purchasing. Engine light has been on. Purchased in June/2006, with 40,000miles. 1yr after the rpm gauge quit working, right afterwards, the fuel gauge started messing up, going back & forth, then went out completely, battery/oil gauges are out now. The seat belt lights/airbag lights bing constantly & does not tighten up when put on brakes. When this happens the check gauges light comes on, and at the same time I have difficulty getting it in gear. I am also having trouble setting my cruise control.

The contact owns a 2002 GMC Envoy. The air bag light is constantly illuminated and only dims when the vehicle is turned off. While driving 55 mph, the contact attempted to use the 4 wheel drive, but it would not work. The indicator light remains illuminated; however, none of the 4 wheel drive levels work. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and they stated that the vehicle was not included in NHTSA campaign id numbers 01v283000 (power train:transfer case (4-wheel drive)) and 02v222000 (air bags). The current mileage was 127,000 and failure mileage was 95,000. Updated 01-14-08. The consumer stated the 4-wheel light only illuminated when the vehicle was started. Updated 12/12/07.
Air bag deployed for no reason. I was sitting in the vehicle in the garage and just started it and the driver side air bag deployed. The air bag light had come on once or twice while driving but went off.
Consumer had all of the weather proofing on the vehicle replaced by the dealer as well as the clutch assembly . The fan clutch was replaced, the air bag indicator light came on. The consumer was told that nothing could be done if the light wasn't on at the time. The plastic trim from the seat belt broke, the seat belt failed again, the transmission would drag, the engine light was on and made a grinding noise, the drivers side tire was loosing pressure, the passenger inner door seal leaked, the clock on the radio would reset itself, the drivers side seat belt would lock up when the brakes were applied they would skid and pull to the right.
