While driving vehicle, started to rough idle and almost caused a vehicle accident because I was unable to stop the car while driving, engine shutdown while driving and lost all power and braking & steering ability, restated vehicle and got burning gas smell from vehicle exhaust pipe and check engine light on with code p0014, got vehicle serviced and had new sensor installed but now getting pinging sound from engine under load and while driving at speed and minor vibration while at idle. I feel this is a serious issue with this vehicle where almost feel unsafe driving vehicle due to running risk of engine shutdown while at speed and unable to steer or brake when engine stalls due to this condition with code p0014 in cars computer. Would really like to be contacted about this issue, gm should have a recall to inspect these systems and provide free repairs of any faulty sensors and provide a full service check on this vehicles. I felt real unsafe to drive this vehicle due to worrying about causing engine damage or having a accident because of this high end failure of this componet.

I have had a problem in the past with the fuel gauge reading empty continuously as I have read from many other complaints. Recently I experienced a problem with the oil pressure gauge. At first the check engine light appeared intermittently and then the oil pressure gauge dropped to zero, at which time the message in on the lcd reading said "stop engine" and "oil pressure low". I immediately went to my gas station and checked the oil, which was only down a 1/4 tank. My mechanic stopped the car and started it again and the oil pressure gauge reset itself but once I started to drive the car again, the oil pressure dropped. My mechanic believes it is another sensor problem like the fuel sensor but is not completely sure. I only started with this issue today but it is more worrisome to me than keeping track of how much gas should be in my tank. I am curious to know if others have started to experience this problem. I have had the car since it was brand new and have drive 79000 miles. I also had a major issue with the suspension system with I believe is common in this vehicle.
Hi I have an 07 Envoy denali and I have a problem with my engine light being on. Took it to get a diagnostic check and the throttle position sensor needs to be replaced. I have replaced my altenator and battery in 2010. Now my bags that lifts the truck struggle and does not work on a daily basis, my lights may not come on and the oil gauge light is on (and also dropped down to zero) and service stabilitrak light stays on. Two years ago I replace the motor that controls the window that cost me around $500 bucks. I live in DC and I cannot pass inspection because of the engine light is on. On edmunds. Com there are many TSB issued for my vehicle purchased in that year.
I bought the car used Feb. 2011 about March 2011 sometimes when it is started (no specific start time) the check engine light will be on (not always) and the car will die while driving approximately 25 to 35 miles per hour. This is not a all the time problem, and I cannot find a reason why some days it does this and some days it doesn't. Also sometimes the cruise control works and sometimes it doesn't. . Also sometimes the wipers stop in mid swipe.

Check engine light illuminated on instrument cluster. Diagnostics indicated a code po 442. This code is indicative of a fuel system leak in the evaporative emission system. Replaced gas cap. Problem not resolved. Filled vehicle with gasoline in October 2010 and several times since. Strong odor of gasoline is present. Each time fuel nozzle fails to shut off fuel from gasoline pump and gasoline is spilled on the ground near driver side rear door creating an environmental and major safety hazard. Vehicle never in accident or modified in any way. Vehicle has 62,000 miles. A courtesy general motors repair program is in place for these vehicles if the long wheelbase models. Numerous occurrences in the short wheelbase models also. This is a known defect according to the gm dealer that services the vehicle, but they want over $1500 to replace the fuel tank and the tank unit which includes the fuel pump, gauge, and hose connections. There is no guarantee this will fix the diagnostic code that sets the check engine lamp, or the problem of gasoline leakage/spillage. The vehicle will not pass a state safety inspection and therefore is not allowed on the road. A forced recall should absolutely be made for these vehicles. At a cost of over $35,000 for this vehicle, and the hazards it represents, it is a total travesty that gm refuses to stand behind their product.
2004 GMC Envoy xuv dies when in drive and stopped for stop light, stop sign, etc. When the gas is applied, the car dies and I tie up traffic while having to shift to park, restart the engine, and then shift to drive and proceed through the intersection. It never dies while driving, only at a stop. I have had this car to the dealer numerous times and, because there is no "code" , they don't know what to do to fix it. The car also has a gas tank that is cracked at the neck and causes the check engine light to be on all the time. The dealership assures me that this is not a safety concern nor does the gas tank crack have anything to do with the engine dying. There is no gas leak but air does get into the tank causing the light to stay on. The throttle body has been cleaned and the entire emission system has also been checked and no one can figure out what the problem is. Dealership also says that the gas tank problem is quite common but that there is no recall. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Why not?????? the main computer module was replaced and this has been happening since then.
2003 GMC Envoy - check engine light & reduced engine power light. Vehicle slows to 20 mph losing power. My daughter was almost hit in the side of the vehicle as she lost power in the intersection. Thankfully, the oncoming vehicle was able to stop.
My GMC Envoy stalls out when I stop at traffic lights. I then have to put it in park to restart the vehicle. Although test meters/equipment have been used to find the cause for the unexplained stall is still unknown. This happens apx. Once every (2) months. When the engine stalls out the "check engine light" comes on and last month the " reduced engine power" light also came on and the Envoy would only move at 3 to 4 mph.
For the last few months the check engine light would come on and go off after a few days; we took it to our mechanic who ran a diagnostic and they said there is nothing wrong, probably a faulty sensor, not harmful. So, last night while driving, using cruise control and on the interstate my speedometer stopped working. When I came to a stop at an exit I noticed the speedometer was reading 42 mph but I was at a complete stop. I do not even want to imagine what might have happened should it have begun to work while I was doing 60+mph while on cruise control!!! this is extremely dangerous! so I came home and did some research to see if this is a known issue with my 2004 GMC Envoy xl and low and behold this is an issue to all GMC suvs from 2002-2005! I am disgusted at the information I found that states GMC isn't willing to take ownership of the recall/repair when this is already a known issue!! please act on this with due diligence and recall this faulty instrument panel before someone gets hurt or worse!!!!.
I having problems with my stabilitrak system the engine lights comes on and I just had the thermostat sensors change which took them three time to find the problem and my drivers window sensors was replaced and there a sudden thumb when you brake as thought you have been hit from behind.

2005 GMC Envoy would not pass state inspection after 3rd year; fuel meter no longer works. Dealer wanted $400 to repair. Dealer wanted $1600 to replace air injection unit and fuel sensor and thermometer so car could pass inspection. I had all the items repaired and engine light still comes on. It has approx 60k miles. The dealer is refusing to repair air injection unit stating it is not under warranty. When I purchased car it came with 100k warranty for drive trane. After taking to certified gm mechanic who fixed everything on list the car still will not pass inspection because the air injection unit continues to take on water. This car is a lemon and gm should not be able to get away with this. I cannot afford to get it repaired therefore, I am subject to get a ticket. I still owe money and cannot trade it in. How much longer are american made car manufacturers going to screw the american people!!!??? I will never purchase another american made car as long as I live!!! I have not even mentioned the fact that the car loss complete power while I was driving at 60 miles/hour on the trnpk. Everything shut completely down. I could not steer. Fortunately there were no curves and I was able to drive to side of road as the car slowly came to a halt! there must be a law against this!!! what recourse do I (we) have????.
I purchased an used 2004 GMC Envoy xl in 2005 with warranty. About a year began experiencing problems took to dealer was told engine had to be replaced due to head bolt breaking. At this time I only paid my deductible as it was covered under the manf warranty. Now 3 years later, I began to experience problems. Engine light one took to mechanic (warranty has expired) was told engine needs to be replaced. Seems it's the same problem it had with prior engine.
2006 Envoy denali. Consumer writes states gas needle stopped functioning the consumer stated the gas needle began to fluctuate in the beginning and since that time, the needle has been stuck on empty, and the engine light illuminated as a result. In March of 2009, when the consumer stared the vehicle, it sounded as if there was something metal tumbling around under the hood. Upon inspection of the vehicle, it was determined the engine needed to be replaced. On June 10, 2010, the vehicle would not start and had to be towed to the dealer. An inspection revealed a starter was needed. Also, an alignment was done and the rear brake light was replaced. On June 12, 2010, the vehicle would not come out of park. After 25 minutes and over 50 attempts, it finally came out of park. The consumer drove to the dealer, but they were unable to find a problem. September 2010, the consumer noticed the rear of the truck was sitting very low. The rear end air suspension needed to be replaced. The air condition randomly worked. There were times where the air would just start blowing and no buttons were pushed. Also, the defroster stopped working. The consumer continued to experience problems with the vehicle not coming out of park.
I was driving in town and my speedometer stopped working at 0. The oil gauge is not working, pegged out at the max and my engine light is now constantly on. These events, particularly the speedometer not working, is a major safety hazard. Not driving at controllable speeds can lead to an accident and death. The parts and labor to fix this problem is $550. While researching this problem on the internet, I've found out that this is a common problem with GMC's in this year. There should be a recall with the cluster unit on 2004 GMC Envoys. GMC should try to prevent deaths that their products may create.
: the contact stated the vehicle started shaking prior to stalling while driving on the freeway at any speed five times. On each occasion, the check engine light illuminated on the dash. The vehicle has been to the dealership each time. On every occasion the gauges were cleaned and the oxygen sensors were replaced. The problem persists.
Car: GMC Envoy 2003 when driving on a highway check engine light came on. "reduced power" light came on too. Engine rpms dropped down to 1100. Barely avoided crash. Made it to the parking lot. Restarted engine few times same problem. Executed "clear change oil light" procedure few times. It cleared "check engine" light and everything is normal now. The vehicle is equipped with "change oil" timer and light. It appears that when timer expired the computer rather than turning "change oil" light on enables "check engine" light and drastically reduces engine power. When it happens on a highway it can easily lead to a crash. I plan to take the vehicle to a dealership in two days. Thank you.
I own a 2004 GMC Envoy, just purchased in January. I feel very unsafe driving it, for when I try to accelerate it just loses power feels like its gonna die out. The rpms are going up and down when I try to accelerate. It,s gonna end up causing me to get in a wreck. I brought it to dealerhip last thurs, they updated the software in pcm. I had to put it back in shop today for doing the same thing I feel as if they arent gonna find whats wrong b/c the check engine light isnt on and it doesn,t act up all the time. I really feel this is of major concern b/c I,m seeing a lot of complaints posted with this same problem in Envoys and trailblazers. I think its time time for a recall don,t ya,ll?.
After starting the vehicle, letting it warm, the consumer entered the highway at 65 mph , the vehicle suddenly lost power, the check engine light and the engine power reduced light came on. The vehicle would only do 10 mph. The consumer will have the vehicle serviced since this is the second occurrence. Whenever the vehicle was cold, the engine light would come on and then the vehicle would lose total speed.
1) sequence of events - nothing happens when we try to start. -battery voltage ok, auto-headlights on, bright - instrument panel completely dead -2 hours later, instrument on the miles per hour instrument is going wild, back and forth finally sets at zero, now engine will start. Check engine light is on for the first time - radio looses preset station memory 2) it started about a week; we had problems starting the warm engine. 3) automatic climate control is working sort of, sometime not 4) the check oil came on, at that time there was plenty 5) the backup mirror option is always loosing the input 6) transmission problem light was on for a day some time ago while driving in sb and in 2 wd, called your service and was told to ignore the dealer replaced the ignition switch, a superficial fix as it turned out later when the ignition switch was replaced again. The cause of the problem was not identified.
The consumer smelled gas, took the vehicle in and the fuel rail was replaced. Later gas was smelled again, there was a vapor emission leak. Then the check engine light came on and the fuel tank is being replaced twice.
While driving about 65 mph on the highway engine check light appeared on the dashboard.
While driving at any speed engine check light came on and stayed on. Dealer checked this problem on three occasions. On each occasion the spark plugs were changed, and the battery cable bolt was replaced.
