2005 GMC Envoy xl back rear door window bracket detached the first time, the second time the bracket itself broke and shattered the rear window. This is a design flaw that people all over the the country have experienced. I am trying to get warranty to cover it but they keep telling me they don't cover broken glass, well if the bracket didn't snap in 2 the glass would not have broken. I am very lucky I was not blinded by the explosion of glass. I took pictures which show pieces of glass over 20 feet away. I also read post by other people where children were cut in the face a scarred by this same event.

I purchased a 2004 GMC Envoy xuv and have several significant problems with this vehicle. After researching it seem others have had the same troubles. Since we owned the vehicle, the rear window is found down and noone was even in/near the vehicle. It continues to work but still will go down by itself. A year ago I had to replace the fuel tank, this was right after we took it in for inspection on a recall of smelling gas fumes while driving and possible corrosion in fuel lines. Of course the fuel lines were not corroded so we were told. I footed the bill $800+ to get a new fuel tank ,as neck on tank was cracked and was told that this is why we smelled gas. Luckily, I went to my garage and saved several hundred dollars from the dealers cost to repair. Last weekend 9/10/10 my family was driving to town and the middle window unexpectedly dropped and now does not work. I researched an it seems to be a regulator issue and will cost around $500, wow! over the last two weeks there is a rattle when we turn on our ac. Again after we were in for service as we had the ac charged at the start of summer. I can see where I have the same troubles as a lot of others and feel, the same as they do, left holding the bag by GMC and no way out but, to look for a new/used vehicle and get rid of this vehicle.

After storing cargo in the rear of my 2004 GMC Envoy xl, I reached for the handle on the tailgate to close it and once I started to pull down an inch or two the entire rear window shattered. There was no warning or cracks or damage in the glass prior to the incident. I was covered in a shower of glass and shards were in the car, on the ground and in my skin. I have owned the vehicle approx three years and it currently has 88k mi on it. The entire rear window needs to be replaced. Based on my research I fear this may happen again which would be hazardous to anyone in the vicinity.

The wipers were the first to go. That needed a control module the touch pads for the tail gate were next. First the drop down then the swing. Then the right side passenger door inside handle stopped working. Then the left side rear door outside handle doesn't work. Then the four wheel drive doesn't work then the fuel gauge doesn't work now the passenger's window doesn't open 5th speed on the heater stopped working what is the matter with GMC? that is a high end vehicle and as such should not be plagued with such problems.
While the vehicle was parked driver heard a loud knocking noise. Consumer inspected the vehicle, and noticed that the rear window broke on its own. Vehicle was taken to the dealer for inspection, and mechanic determined that the window needed to be replaced.
I experience ear pain if I drive while all windows are down. (particularly the back windows). Y rear windshield wiper failed to work for no reason. The next time I got into the car, it worked.
Problems with vehicle's windshield wipers. The consumer noticed that everytime the windshield wipers were used, they would bounce across the windshield so much that the consumer was unable to see and in order for them to be used, the consumer had to keep turning them on and off to see properly. The vehicle was taken to the dealer at least four times to have the wipers adjusted and replaced. The last time however, it was determined that there was a bow in the windshield and it needed to be replaced. After having the windshield replaced, the consumer continued to experience problems. There was a film on the windshield and when the wipers were used, the consumer could not see properly. On two occasions the 4wd/a4wd light illuminated and the vehicle was stuck in 4wd and then all the lights went out and the transmission was slipping. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and the computer had to be reprogrammed. The consumer also stated the rear wipers failed and the dealer found a nut loose and the front washer hose did not work and there was a kink in it. There was noise coming from the windows, although the dealer said it was coming from the mirrors.

I have a 2003 GMC Envoy xl with less than 8,000 miles on it. On may 26, 2003 while driving in the rain, the front wipers quit. In a matter of seconds, I could see nothing. Needless to say, it was a very dangerous situation.
