GMC Jimmy owners have reported 13 problems related to air conditioner (under the equipment category).
1) we were driving from kalamazoo to chicago when the I went to turn on the air conditioner it blew extremely hot air to the point where the dash was too hot to touch. We unplugged the air completely but and even shut the tried to open the vents but it continued to blow hot air we had to keep switching from dash to floor to keep from burning our feet and faces. We try to use the heat now and it blows the same extreme hot air (hotter than a normal heat control) for the winter time. We do not have the 320. 00 to replace the climate control panel that everyone is telling us is wrong with it. So we continue to us it sparingly.

I have a 1998, GMC Jimmy. In the summer of 2002 we began to have problems with the car's ac unit. It would go out for a while, then it would work for a day or so. Then it went out again, until finally it went out all together. Just recently we took it to two separate mechanics to see what the problem was. We were told that there were holes throughout the system and that the compressor was out.

I would like to suggest that the entire 1996 GMC- Jimmy series made need to be recalled because the owner has to many repairs to be done on the vehicle. The services engine light comes very often to indicate repairs on the truck and their are to be problems with this 1996 Jimmy. I suggest a total recall of this vehicle and this vehicle is unsafe to be on the road. It has a very bad braking system abs.

At first we noticed the passenger side floorboards were very wet. We proceeded to look under the vehicle, since it had been raining recently. Then we saw transmission fluid from the front of the transmission. To the rear drive axle. Immediately the vehicle was taken back to the dealership. Where the transmission pan gasket was replaced. Then the transmission pump and o-ring. A passenger side door gasket was ordered that was determined to be leaking. While waiting for the door gasket to come in, it had not rained in two weeks, but the floor continued to stay wet. Since it is very hot here we notified the dealer when it was taken in for the door gasket replacement. The air conditioning drain lines were blown out to correct this problem.
