GMC Jimmy owners have reported 12 problems related to door hinge (under the structure category).
My 1999 GMC Jimmy has been given us problems shutting the drivers and passengers doors. It leaked in the car wash or when raining as the doors did not properly close, and now they didn't close at all. I must spend $300 , not in my budget so will get behind with bills, to have the pins and hinges replaced as they were made with nylon , but the replacementwas made of brass. I had to pay already to have the door fixed to close. I tell my son to fasten his seatbelt and stay away from the door as even if it locked. I was afraid it might open.

Dt:the contact stated the upper and lower ball joints on both sides broke while driving in a parking lot. The vehicle had to be towed to the dealership, where the ball joints and the anti lock brake sensors were replaced. Contacted the manufacturer, there were NHTSA recalls 01i018000 and 01v200000, but this vehicle was not included in the recalls due to VIN. Also, the transmission and anti lock brakes were replaced. The anti lock brake sensor was replaced twice.

The contact owns a 2000 GMC envoy diamond edition which he bought new with major guard protection. Currently has 40,000 miles on it, and two years left on my major guard insurance. A safety problem surfaced. The top hinges on the two front doors cracked , causing doors to open while driving down the highway. The front doors were sagging and not aligned correctly with striker plate. The contact stopped at local dealership and talked to the service representative. . He looked for TSB bulletins for 2000 Jimmy envoy. He said there were no bulletins or recalls on the door hinges , but noticed they have changed from welded hinges back to bolt on hinges, and the problems were not covered by gm or major guard protection plan. For approximately $700-$800 they could change the hinges to solve the problem.
Pin in driver door hing broke.
Door hinges have broken at least four times since purchase 2 1/2 years ago - the bushing breaks and the door "falls" open and when pulled close, hikes up over the peg. Can't understand why this problem keeps recurring on both doors and we have to pay $200 to have it fixed!.
