Transmission stutters in between 1st and 2nd gears on decelleration and acceleration. Transmission seems to overheat. Anticipate failure due to this anomoly. Do not want to experience a lock up or loss of control of vehicle.
Our 2005 Honda Accord v6 suddenly stopped accelerating and behaved like it was on neutral. The engine revved but the car would not move forward. I had to stop the car in the middle of the road and put my hazards on. After a few minutes I started the engine again. When I put the car in drive there was a grinding noise and I felt the car go into gear a few seconds later. When I accelerated the car started to move slowly forward and a whirring noise came from the engine. I had to stop and start the car 3-4 times on the remaining 3 mile drive home. I took it into a Honda repair shop. We contacted Honda corporate and they have offered to pay 75% of the cost of repair which is estimated at $5000.
The contact owns a 2005 Honda Accord. While driving approximately 55-60 mph, the vehicle began to decelerate independently and then shifted back into gear. The contact stated that the failure had been on-going since February 2011. The vehicle was taken to a local mechanic and then to a dealer where both confirmed that the transmission would need to be replaced. The contact authorized the dealer to replace the transmission. The manufacturer was contacted and they offered to pay half of the repair costs. The failure mileage was 61,000 and the current mileage was 61,888. Updated 4/25/11.
I drive a 2005 Honda Accord, we noticed that the transmission fluid was low so we added Honda transmission fluid. That's when the cars rpms shot up and I wasn't hardly moving. Honda said do a 9 quart quart flush, which we did. For a day or two things seemed better, then it was far worse than before with the rpms at 6,000 and I'm only going 30. Hoping it was a problem with a censor, we took it to Honda, they tell me don't worry it'll be fine. Hour later they call and say your transmission is shot. Now they tell me I can trade it in, or get a new one for $3800. I say I'm taking it elsewhere, to another trans shop, who asks me which Honda I called about he's had 3 calls that morning and has 2 waiting to be fixed. He says Honda trans are poorly designed in that first the flter is hard to get to and that there is a very small hole for fluid to get through and that once clogged with no fluid the trans fails. Now he's rebuilding it and our supposed trusty Honda is going to cost us $2400 of which we do not just have sitting around. I hope that there will be a recall, this is truly awful of Honda a name I trusted in, but, now would never recommened to anyone.
The contact owns a 2005 Honda Accord. The contact stated that while driving approximately 40 mph, the vehicle would rev when accelerated but would not move forward. The contact was able to restart by shutting the vehicle off and on again. The vehicle was inspected by the dealer who informed the contact that he needed to replace the transmission. The vehicle was repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 43,000.
2005 Honda Accord v6 ex sedan. While entering the freeway the car fell out of gear and then I had to quickly pull off (nearly getting hit by merging cars) and call the highway patrol to block oncoming traffic from hitting me as I did not have enough momentum to get out of the far right lane completely. Towed car to Honda dealership which resulted in them telling me I had a failed transmission. A failed transmission with 52,300 miles on the car. Transmission and oil change was just done so why this failed leaves me shaking my head.
2005 Honda Accord ex-v6 auto-transmission gave out at 50mph. Luckily it was the middle of the night and there were no other vehicles on the road but had their been someone behind me it would have been bad. The vehicle slipped 5th, 4th, and 3rd gear then slowed to a stop. The only reason I am bothering to file this complaint is that I have done some research online and have found that many other people which this same car have had similar problems (10 similar reports on carcomplaints. Com since Jan. 2009 alone). I am in luck because I have an extended warranty and it should be covered. It is currently at the dealership for repair.
2005 Honda Accord lx (4dr, 4 cyl) shakes/shudders very badly when trying to accelerate between the speeds of 55 and 65 mph. This is very dangerous while merging on freeway. Dealer says transmission needs to be replaced. The vehicle has only 46 k miles. There is a possibility that the car will suddenly stop causing a crash. The same problem has been reported for 2003 and 2004 Honda Accords too.
The accelerator stuck and the engine kept revving at a high speed. When the brakes were pressed it barely slowed down. Was able to stop the car at a fast food establishment. It continued to rev when the gear was placed in "park. " the car was turned off and then restarted, and the engine was still revving at a high speed. A tow truck took it to the Honda place and they could find nothing wrong. Evidently the tow truck driver moved the pedal around and the dealer said he should not have done that.
I was driving on interstate in my 2005 Honda Accord ex , driving 68 miles an hour and suddenly the car completed wigged out, the rpm's revved up in the red and the car would not maintain speed. It was sudden and super dangerous considering the circumstance. I called Honda care and arranged to be brought to Honda, they informed me I needed a whole new transmission. That it was internal. Thank god I service and may god be with Honda owners to protect them from this internal issue.
My car suddenly accelerated upon exiting a car wash as I changed from neutral to drive. The design of the exit lane from the car wash driveway and access to the four lane street where the car wash is located does not allow for any speed as there are two sharp turns . My car sped across the driveway, into a culvert and toward the heavy traffic. I applied the brakes immediately and steered the car away from the street, crossing several business parking lots and landscaped areas. My 2005 Honda Accord received several thousands dollars in damage. Honda denied it was warranty and did not show me the computer diagnostic evaluation. In fact, this information seemed to be closely guarded by the service department at Honda orr in hot springs, ar. I was told to contact my insurance company for repairs. This car experienced what I would explain as an open throttle which may be a new problem for computerized cars. I have taken several photos of my car and the scene, which shows several feet of skid marks.
When the vehicle is started with a cold engine the car will surge in gear, accelerating the car unexpectedly. The frequency of the problem is intermittent. The car will surge with enough force that the amount of pressure one ordinarily exerts on the brake pedal to hold a car stationary is insufficient.
My 2005 Honda Accord ex has three features that compromise my safety: 1. The right-hand corner of the sun visor, when in its fullest position (not at an angle), obscures nearly half of the rearview mirror. This has caused a number of "near accident" events. 2. The Honda is designed to downshift when going downhill. Not only does this diminish gas efficiency, but can cause skids in icy weather. 3. The brakes are extremely sensitive. I have spoken to two area Honda service centers and a service representative at Honda headquarter. The area managers say that "they're all like that; there's nothing we can do," and the Honda headquarters rep says the same. She even went so far as to recommend I get the lower half of my windshield tinted to prevent sun glare! what about night driving? I can't believe that solutions to this problem cannot be found. Can you help in any way?.
Contact stated that while sitting at a stop light on a hill and taking foot off the brakes the vehicle rolled backward. Dealer and manufacturer told her this was normal for this type of vehicle. She was told the idle was lower for a quieter ride, and it did not have the power the hold the vehicle on a hill.
Is already time someone take real action against Honda and this problem that a lot of 05 Accord are having. This problem with very strong vibration from under the car. Making any trip unpleasant. Have research the web and they are hundred of Accord owner suffering from this problem with no answer from Honda. Only answer is According to the dealer that is normal which is not. In my case my car is to the point the at any rpm you feel you are driving a car that has 300k miles on it when is a brand new engine. I really don;t want to keep wasting my time with dealer because all of them tell you something different. I beg that someone make Honda aware of this issue and to find out a solution.
The contact owns a 2005 Honda Accord hybrid. The contact stated that her vehicle accelerated when she depressed the brake pedal. She heard an unfamiliar sound coming from the vehicle. Initially, the failure occurred intermittently over the past three years, but has recently become worse. The faster she drives, the louder the failure becomes. When the brake pedal is depressed, the failure ceases, and when she releases the pedal, it starts again. The dealer stated that the failure may possibly be caused by a noise box. They further informed her that there were no other failures with the vehicle. The mileages were unknown.
Honda Accord ex was parked in a picnic area near a local river. The driver stepped out with three passengers remaining in vehicle. The vehicle began to roll after the passenger turned off the ignition. The parking brake was not engaged, however, the driver states that the transmission was in park. The vehicle then rolled approximately 10' forward and down a 40 degree slope leading to the river. The vehicle stopped in the river with approximately one-half of the vehicle submersed. Two passengers escaped prior to entering the water. Both of these individuals received minor injury in the process. The other passenger was pulled out the passenger window after the vehicle had entered the river. We made several inquiries with Honda corporation, local dealership, and our insurance company about possible mechanical problem. Our hope was to have someone explain the possible scenarios leading to this incident. No one could provide complete evidence to in.
1. Noticed when drove off of the lot of the dealer. I thought that it was just more power with the vehicle because it is a v-6, which I am not familiar with. 2. There is a hard shift from 1st to 2nd gear, which you can feel underneath your feet, almost like an annoying vibration. 3. I took it to the dealer and they had no idea what it was. They then wanted to disconnect the abs to see if it could clear the problem, but it was just a test, I have no idea how that would remedy the problem.
