2005 Honda Accord fire danger. The catalytic converter heat shields fell off while driving and almost caused an accident. The catalytic converter is warranted 8 years or 80,000 miles. My Honda only had about 45,000 when the catalytic converter heat shields failed. I took the auto to a Honda dealer. The dealer contacted the Honda company customer service representative and she refused to pay any part of the repair. We also called the Honda representative several times without any help from Honda. This person refused to let me speak to her supervisor. The reason the catalytic converter has heat shields are to prevent fires from heat given off by the catalytic converter. The auto is unsafe without the heat shields which surround, and are part of the catalytic converter a major emission control devises.

Car idles high and eratic since a new alternator was put on due to light(in and out) flickering along with fan and radio cutting out when a/c unit is used and cooling fans kick on and off. Since then car idles high, surges went fron tacking 1100 cold to 1500. Went from warm idle at 600 and is now 8-900rpms. Lights still do the same thing but they agree there was a voltage drop after two dealers said it was acharcteristic. After two month the cars going back in for a second seat track and a syl plate that was damaged. Now along with a list of problems the front bumper is pealing in same spot on left and right side near headlights. I alreadt complained about the bumpers not fitting. Dealer did idle relearn procedeure that did nothing. Check fuel cap message comes on and check engine light was on. They claim after 20 years of driving and 4 Hondas,I don't know how to put a gas cap on. Worst car I ever had. The worst part is the attitude of the dealers and Honda. I have been waiting for over two months for a rep,las time dealer snuck a note in that I refused to see the rep. I faxed them a demand letter to see the rep and another dealer was also supposed to set a meeting up. They claim he is out with a bad back(philadelphia area rep,)I am suing Honda under the lemon law. I had enough. The suit was filed and my court date is in October, contact me with any questions or comments. Car alo smell like a rotten egg.

Continuous engine check light pointing to failures in the emissions control system. Monetary loss is becoming unacceptable.
Check engine light came on. Had it scanned and produced code p0401 - egr insufficient airflow. Told by Honda that this was a recognized problem and a warranty extension had been issued, but since my car has 113k miles, it won't fall under the extension (80k) and it will cost me $370 to fix. I have not fixed it due to money and it cannot pass emissions, therefore, I am driving on an expired tag (cannot get tag without passing emissions).

Engine hesitates in approximately the 1500-2000 rpm range. Further depression of the accelerator causes rapid, unexpected and difficult to control acceleration. Releasing the accelerator then causes the engine to stall. Car has been left with a dealer twice without resolution. Engine code indicates egr system. Problem persists.

2005 Honda Accord hybrid check engine light flashes then stays on when heavy acceleration is applied-I. E. The check engine light came on. The consumer had taken the vehicle to a mechanic, and they found the code p1457. Then he took it to a dealership, which found the same code when checking for the problem. They said that it was because there was an internal problem with the evaporation system. Discovered a leak within the system by doing a smoke test. It was in a canister in the emission system. They replaced the canister and the valve that was connected with it, parts 17011s84a00 and 17310s84l31. The consumer contacted the manufacturer, who told the consumer that they had no other complaints about this issue. . Read more...

I have experienced the check engine light problem several times starting the very first year that I bought my 1998 Accord. I have received error code p0401 insufficient egr flow detected and p1456 evap system leak. This seems to be a very common problem with these models. I have tried the "gas cap not being tight enough trick", I have had the car test for diagnostics and recieves no errors. I only use mid grade gasoline but have recently tried premimium. I have used fuel cleaners and have had the egr replaced. This light still comes on.
I have a 1998 Honda Accord lx v4. I have repeatedly had problems with the check engine light comming on. I have already replaced the O2 sensors and had the code cleared at least 4 times within the last year. My mechanic has noted that he can not find anything wrong with the car. . Read more...

Dealer diagnosed bad evaporative canister control valve and replaced the valve.
Engine check light came on for the second time within a year. The first time I was told that the computer was too sensitive and they had to order a new computer - wait was approx 3-4 months. This happened at 3600 miles and was covered under warranty. Less than a year later the engine check light came on, and the dealer told me it was oxygen sensor and it had to be replaced. The emission control system is unreliable for this to happen within 53k miles.
