2000 Hyundai Elantra - new------------7/05 w/ 17,923 mileage on the car. I needed to replace the motor on the pass. Front window & both back windows. It is now 12/07 and I need to replace the same motors in all 3 windows , my car now has 29,420 mileage on the car. The window that I would use the most is the drivers front , is just fine.
The contact owns a 2001 Hyundai Elantra. The contact stated when driving 65 mph the vehicle will shift on it's own to 1st gear, and sometimes the vehicle will stay in 1st gear. The driver stated the vehicle will also shift it's self into neutral and the vehicle will also begin to accelerate on it's own. He had to pull over and turn the vehicle off and then back on. The contact stated the power windows and the windshield wipers are not operating properly as well. The contact stated he had contacted the dealer and they stated that none of these issues are covered under the warranty and he would have to pay out of pocket. The failure mileage was 35,000 and the current mileage was 55,000.

During the past 18 months, all four windows in my 2000 Hyundai Elantra has had the window regulator go bad and required replacement. These windows were engineered to fail. The total cost to replace them was near $1500. Because of the failure, the rear window rolled down during a rainstorm here in florida. My reaction nearly caused an accident.
The regulator device broke in three of my automatic windows since I've owned the car. During the time the windows were broken the glass was stuck in the open position, providing a red flag for anyone wishing to steal my car or its contents. Currently my 3rd window is broken and the dealership won't look at it for a few days so I have to hope no one finds out it is broken in the mean time.
Two power windows have failed. The first time, the driver's window fell while driving, startling the driver, almost causing a rear-end collision. The second time, the rear window had fallen while the vehicle was unoccupied, which could have caused the theft of the vehicle and/or its components. Both parts were fixed at owner's cost of $140 each, plus labor. *.
Windows regulators failing - so far this has happened three times on this car, twice on the front drivers side - once under warranty and once at my expense. The rear window comes down at will and we are going to have to glue it up.
Power window rear. Don't work . Window drops down. Cable inside off track.
Two back windows and one front window failed to operate over a six month period (electric windows). The windows would fall down and would not stay up. The motor and regulator had to be replaced in the back windows and the regulator in the front window at a cost over $1100. 00. The car is only six years old.
I am the only one who drives my car. I don't have a family. My car is only 4 1/2 yrs old and the passenger window motor broke. Within two weeks the driver side window broke. I hardly use them. I'm an air conditioner girl. This is ridiculous! I had to rip apart the door and push up the window. They are wedged shut with cardboard. I'm praying no one notices and breaks in and steals my car.
I was at a carwash when I attempted to roll up the front power window on my drivers side when the window did not respond. Now my back window does not roll up. My vehicle also stalls and is not able tbe diagnosed.
Within the space of one month all 4 of my power windows stopped functioning. 1st the driver's side window, then a week later the passenger side, followed shortly thereafter by both rear windows. My mechanic said that this is a known issue with the Elantra, and I found service bulletin number: 0490010-NHTSA item number 10007954-power window regulator motor. I just wonder why there hasn't been a recall. . . Each motor is very expensive, almost $300. . . It will cost me over $1200 to repair all 4 motors.
While backing into the driveway, the vehicle accelerated backward into the garage. Also the left front window was inoperative, the dealer adjusted the window track.
While driving, the air bag light illuminated. The cause of the problem had not been identified. The consumer stated the air bag light continued to be a problem, the dealer would just reset the code without identifying the problem. The driver side window went up and down by itself, the dealer replaced the master switch, the black rubber stripping was missing from the door, the cigarette lighter was inoperative, the battery failed and was replaced abl. Pco.
Our drivers side window would not go up or down a few months ago, the dealer replaced the window motor. Now, our passenger side window is doing the same thing. . . It will not raise or lower. We will have to take more time off from work to get this fixed. This is at least our seventh warranty repair since we purchased the car.
Driver's side front window regulator stopped working, and driver was unable to get the window up.
No events lead to failure, it is just happening while parked, driving down the road. It has failed in all 4 window of the car. The first window was under warranty and the window regulator was placed. The remaining 3 windows are still broken until $1000. 00 is available for repair.
It is back at earnhardts, for the elec. System again 4th time. It started in 3/02 and went out again last fri. 6/6/03 but they don't consider it a problem. Because I filed a lemon law on the previous accent and replaced it with the Elantra 2001 and I filled out a survey saying they had bad customer service, the normal use of a rental while they fixed it for days was not granted. I am so upset I spent a day out in the az sun waiting for a tow of 205 miles to the next dealership and they tell me I have a bad record with them and don't deserve the courtesy of a rental car. This is my second hyndai and I have had nothing but trouble with it and the dealership. I have sent letters to the attorney general, three on my side, hyndai and earnhardts dealership. I want out of this car and don't feel safe in it any more. I was going down the salt river canyon (if you are not from az picture going down the twisting road to the grand canyon) without any power steering, brakes and trying to keep control of the car with kids in it. And they tell me I shouldn't be excited! 1 1/2 hrs in the sun waiting for the tow, the next dealership 200 mi away, no rental cars authorized, so my husband has to drive up and get me (198) miles from my house and go back so he could be at work in 3 hrs. No sleep for him. The dates are 3, 4, 6 of 2002 and now 6/6/03. The mileage is 27,694. The cost is theirs because it has the 100,000 warranty. Just the mental and physical anguish and inconvience of another car that won't work right now.
Nar 2/10/2003. The vehicle required transmission replacement after only 32,000 miles. When the vehicle was service at 29,566 the mechanic noted that oil was in the transmission and therefore they would not honor the warranty. The consumer had the repairs done by a independent mechanic who found that the bearing on the transfershaft was falling apart, burning the transmission fluid which caused the brown color. The left front window would not roll up.
Power window regulator went out on passenger side, driver side, and rear passenger side within three months of each other. Dealer replaced rear driver side with the last window regulator replacement.
June 2001 automatic power window driver side stabilizer replaced, also same month air conditioning compressor failed and had to be replaced.

Window control- when rolling up yhe rubber get caught in the window. This is still a problem , I guess it was fix right hopeful this timewhich was 7-24-01. Emission-was a problem . I think it's still a problem I really don't know if this is not pretaing to the transmission. Transmission-always has been a problem and still is. The car jerks buck, and it acts like it be sfiting to another gear sometimes. I;m back and forth to the dealer they say they can't find nothing. Wait until the enigine light comes on. This is a serious problem cause this has gotten to my back. I contact the manuf they don't care ,they just say as long as there is a warranty on the car they will keep fixing, but it's not . They said a new one was put in . I'm still having a problem all I ak for was a another car. As bee.
Power window & door locks failed.
If there is any moisture on the outside of the driver's side window, it is not removed when window is rolled down and back up. Asked Hyundai dealer to take a look at it shortly after I purchased it. They said there was nothing they could do and that it was a characteristic of the Hyundai. I feel this is a safety issue.
Consumer states this is the 5th time the power window regulator has been replaced do to window not raising or lowering. Dealer has been contacted. Please provide any further information. Ts.
Consumer can't get windows open if power is off. Vehicle has all power with no manual crank. If there is an accident and the doors are pinned shut, there's no way to get out. Vehicle should have manual crank on both doors for emergency escape.
