|Gasoline Fuel System problems|
While driving up an incline the vehicle began to make a grinding noise. Shortly thereafter the car began shaking, with the check engine and esc lights both coming on, then a sudden stoppage of acceleration, and then engine shut down while the vehicle was still in motion. This caused the immediate loss of steering and the brakes to go soft. The vehicle sat for 10 minutes before re-starting; however, after driving approximately 100 feet, the car once again made the grinding noise, engine and esc light illumination, shaking, and then shut down. This is the third time since purchasing this vehicle in March of 2008, that the engine has stopped working while driving. The dealership has replaced a throttle sensor twice, the last time being October 18, 2009, and it is currently in the shop again for the same problem. This is just one of several ongoing problems and concerns with this vehicle. Most notably outside of the sudden loss of power and engine shut off described, the brakes have been checked on several occasions for noises, violent shaking, and loss of function to which the dealership states that they are not worn or warped or this is normal for this vehicle. The tires have no grip and spin on both dry and went road conditions making sudden acceleration impossible and dangerous. The vehicle has also been checked for the lack of gas mileage approximately 13 mpg city and 16 mpg highway, well less then the 19/21 on the sticker.
We purchased a new 2007 Entourage limited in October 2006. The fuel consumption on this minivan is horrid averaging 16. 8 miles per gallon. The advertised range was 18 mpg in city and 25 in hwy. With mixed city/hwy driving we are experiencing fuel consumption that is not come close to the city fuel consumption advertised by Hyundai. Fuel consumption was a big part of our decision to buy this vehicle and it seems the information provided by Hyundai was completely deceiving. The dealer told us there is nothing that can be done and we are stuck with this inefficient vehicle. Many other owners reporting the same complaint as shown in various websites I. E. Edmunds. Com.
