Hyundai Genesis owners have reported 535 problems for their cars built in the 7 model years listed in the chart below. The chart shows the number of problems reported during all service years for each model year of Hyundai Genesis. The 2009 Hyundai Genesis cars have the most problems reported (201 problems).
The following chart shows the 23 most common problems for Hyundai Genesis cars. The number one most common problem is related to the vehicle's service brakes, hydraulic (145 problems). The second most common problem is related to the vehicle's electrical system (55 problems).
|Problem Category||Number of Problems|
|Engine And Engine Cooling|
|Vehicle Speed Control|
|Electronic Stability Control|

It would not be fair to compare the older model year Hyundai Genesis to a new one in terms of the problems reported since older vehicles have been in service longer and more problems should be reported. In order to compare the reliability across Genesis model years, we use the PPMY index which is defined as the problems reported per thousand vehicles per Year. A smaller PPMY index implies a better reliability for the model year under study.
PPMY = P / S / Y * 1000
Where P = total problems reported during the life of a Hyundai Genesis model year; S = total units sold of the model year; Y = years since the debut of the model year (the age of the vehicle).
The result is shown in Table 3.
Another way to measure the reliability across the model years of Hyundai Genesis is to use the number of problems reported during the vehicles' first year in service, as shown in the Table 4.
