I purchased this vehicle, 2012 Infiniti g 37xs in September 2023. The vehicle was basically brand new with less than 2200 miles on it and I have driven it very little up to that point, October 2024, as it is not my primary vehicle. Around [xxx], I believe it was around 8100 miles and change on the vehicle, a warning light came on my dash regarding my passenger airbag. Since that date, I have worked with plaza Infiniti in creve coeur, who has looked at the vehicle a few times and identified that there is no part replacement other than oem that can fix this issue. However, the part has been discontinued. Today, I reached out to Infiniti directly, and with a sad heart, they refuse to even listen to me. Now, I have a vehicle that has a safety issue and no way to fix it. The part number 87300–1nl6a, is the lower seat assembly for the passenger side of my 2012 Infiniti g 37xs. This part also has the occupant sensor which is directly affecting the airbag. The sensor is not replaceable separately of the lower seat assembly. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

I am the original owner of this 2009 G37 sedan with only 12k miles. This car has never been in an accident. It is perfectly maintained and sits in a garage 99% of the time. Last week the airbag light flashed on. The dealer said the error code was b1018 (occupant classification sensor malfunction). The cost of the passenger seat cushion alone is $7,500. This problem was also found on the 2007 & 2008 G37 models and part of a NHTSA recall (#08v521000). I found this problem all over the internet and this NHTSA site for this model year G37. Please investigate this problem. Why isn't this part of the 2007/2008 recall when the sensor is bad in both instances?.
I’ve owned this 2012 G37 for a few years and had no issues whatsoever. However within the last couple of months, my air bag light came on and has been flashing since. I’ve taken it to get inspected and had the system checked and was told my passenger seat occupant sensor malfunctioned and is throwing the code on. The sensor itself, very easily replaced, is unable to be bought by itself. Repairs by the dealership is well over 5,000 for the seat and labor. The sensor is being sold as a component part of the bottom build of the seat, and cannot be sold otherwise. The issue with the sensor not being active, prevents the activation of the passenger airbag regardless of the seat being occupied or not. My concerns are that I won’t be able to safely commute with passengers on the road and also being able to pass state inspection, as needed per law per state. Without this sensor, driving is an everyday peril, a safety concern a driver has no control over with other vehicles on the road. There has not been any prior incidents that have occurred that could cause this electronic issue.
Sunroof drain has malfunctioned multiple times, even after having the Infiniti dealer replace with brand new ones. This was a very expensive repair and has already failed again. Upon searching the internet, this is a known, common problem and Infiniti should have recalled this issue. Water has leaked into my car onto my electronics. Luckily, nothing major has occurred while I was driving like it has for other owners of this same vehicle, but my power functions are malfunctioning because of this flawed component. The vehicle has been inspected and repaired by an Infiniti dealer, who also told me that this is a very common issue with this vehicle and sometimes causes the car to shut off while it is being driven. There are no warnings for this issue - just a bunch of water leaking straight into the car and underneath the floorboard, where many electrical components are housed.

There is a leak on the driver side down the front a-pillar. Water runs over the electrical components, fuse box, bcm. I’ve researched on the internet and this is an extremely common problem. If this component gets wet, the car could shut off while driving. Maybe there is a danger with being electrocuted as well. This is a design flaw and potential safety issue in the 2012 Infiniti G37, and it’s happening fairly often as seen with similar issues from other owners. Do I have to worry about this with my two kids in the car? why hasn’t this been addressed by the manufacturer with the commonality of the problem? I had a similar issue on the passenger side. However, I was not worried about safety as the electrical components are not on that side. There is not the same risk for electrocution or car stoppage while driving. Nonetheless, it is still an extremely common problem and failure of engineering on the manufacturers part. Now I am dealing with the same issue on the drivers side where the electrical components come into play.
My vehicle fuel gauge reading recently started malfunctioning. It showed 1/8 tank and 40 miles left before I needed gas. The gas warning light came on. However within a minute, it showed 1/4 tank and 80 miles left before I ran out of gas. So I thought I was ok because I was on the freeway and I was getting better mileage, so I could travel further. I drove about 10 more miles and all of a sudden the warning light came on and said I only had about 2 miles of gas left. My car started sputtering and I ran out of gas on the freeway. I was very lucky I was able to coast (no power) onto the emergency shoulder. I called aaa to bring me gas. I felt very unsafe being on the side of the freeway in los angeles, cars were passing me at 70+ mph, and several cars swerved to avoid me, even with my emergency blinkers on. I thought it might have been a glitch that only happened once, so I have been very careful about filling my gas well before I think it needs it. But then it happened again the other day. My gauge showed 1/4 tank with about 75 miles left but then a few minutes later it showed 1/2 tank with around 150 miles left. I stopped for gas and it took nearly 15 gallons (it only holds 17 gallons). This is extremely dangerous, and many other g35/g37 owners have this problem. (I have seen the exact same issues with fuel gauge readings in Infiniti G37 forums). My cluster is working (I ran the cluster diagnostic and all gauges are functioning) so I believe it must be either the fuel sensor, the float arm or possibly an ac amp (a part that controls all the information sent to the gauge cluster, found near the radio?) I also saw that Nissan/Infiniti had a recall almost identical to this. Recall 10v074000. This could cause the vehicle to run out of gas and stall on the highway, which could cause a crash. Please advise if this can be investigated as a potential safety hazard and recall for my vehicle. Thank you!.

Sunroof drain failure causing rain water from the outside of the vehicle to enter the interior flooding the passenger side going from the front seats to the back seats. Due to the sunroof drain defect, the flooding of the interior causes the water to get into the body control module impacting the electronics which can result in numerous failures in the vehicle making it dangerous to drive. There are numerous videos on youtube and posts on online forums describing this very issue which is extremely common with the G37. Infiniti dealer confirms the issue, but takes absolutely no responsibility. The cost of the repairs to the sunroof drain and body control module are completely placed on the consumer.
When it rains heavy water gets inside the car on both the drivers side and passengers side leaving the floor extremely wet. It is getting the wires wet. Many Infiniti owners are experiencing the same thing and believe inifiniti needs to make a recall.
I was driving at about 65 mph on the tail end of a roughly 2 hour trip. The car shut off on me completely. Fortunately there weren't many cars on the road, so I was able to force the steering wheel - since power steering went out as well, I needed to turn the wheel forcefully - to the shoulder. The brakes worked ok, but not well, again because the engine shut off, so I was forcing the brakes and they took a lot longer to work than normally. Had there been normal to heavy traffic, I'd definitely have been in a very bad crash. The vehicle is available for inspection if needed. This is the second time this situation has occurred to me in this vehicle. There was no warning lamp, message, or symptom prior to or after the incident. A dealer, manufacturer, police, insurance, nor anyone else has inspected or reproduced the problem. Various Infiniti online forums reference the same issue.
The airbag control module can be damaged through normal use. Simply disconnecting the battery can damage the module, which then causes the airbag malfunction light on the instrument cluster to turn on. It is unclear weather or not the airbag will function when this occurs. Presumably, it will not. The dealer solution for this is to replace the module, at a cost of over $1000. Fortunately, it is possible to remove the module and send it to a 3rd party who can reflash a chip. However, doing this every time a random electrical glitch (common ) causes the warning system to trip is dangerous.

Regarding tracking number 11400119. - infinity called me today(from phone number 6157257000. She said they are not interested in my case because the car has no recall on it. I'm confused because I thought you and infinity would want to know what caused the fire and if others with this model of. Car were in danger of being set on fire.
Rear speaker amp caught fire and burned the rear of the vehicle near the fuel tankmarch 19, 2021. The electrical fire occurred several hours after the vehicle had been parked under an apartment housing complex carport. Had it not been noticed the structure along with several other vehicles could have caught fire. Pasco washington fire identified the source as the factory amp in the rear of the vehicle having started the fire. It is available for inspection.
Last night while I was sleeping, my car caught fire inside. It appears it started where the seat warmer button is(on the console). It was a big enough fire to reach the roof.
The contact owns a 2011 Infiniti G37. The contact stated while the turning on the ignition, the front passenger's side air bag warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer lake norman Infiniti (20435 chartwell center dr, cornelius, nc 28031, (704) 464-4117) where it was diagnosed with needing the front passenger seat to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 61,000.
There is a water leak rage from the sunroof. My car gets soaked in water and it's not preventable. Creates a smell and mold.
The passenger airbag light is blinking due to a faulty sensor contained in the passenger seat. If this light does not turn off, no airbags will deploy in the event of an accident, which is a huge safety issue. Infiniti charges more than $7000 to replace the sensor and the seat to fix this out of warranty. Infiniti refuses to do a recall for this issue which has been found to be very common in Nissan and Infiniti vehicles.
Airbag light is blinking so took to dealership charged $149. 00 and said they cleared codes. . . Service man said that something about passenger seat needed to be replaced for around $7000. 00. . . Light has come back on😬.
I have an electrical dash board that controls my speedometer, gas milage and all the major checks lights that is not working. This is the second time I have had this problem and when you research the problem on the internet or youtube, the infinity owners are saying its a major problem with the car and the computer system. Why hasn't infinity recalled this problem?.
Infiniti G37 convertible year 2012, with 11,400 miles (secondary car very low miles) displayed passenger airbag error/will not deploy airbag in a crash. The car was started and the display light never went off and has stay on every since while driving. Took the car to westhouston Infiniti service one week later and was told a sensor was bad and that the entire seat would require replacement at a cost of 6k (my seat is almost brand new). I questioned why I should have to pay for what is surly a design flaw and the price is outrageous. I decline as that price was not doable and contacted Infiniti consumer affairs who listen to state issue and sent an email that no assistance would be given due to warranty had expired. I can't afford to replace an entire seat for a sensor. I'm trying to understand why this is not their responsibility as I know others with the same issue. My firm position is no car company should be allow to require consumers to bare the burden of poor engineering.
Air bag sensor fault in passenger seat. Air bag sensor does not work correctly, causing airbag to be inactive for all occupants of passenger seat. Infiniti does not offer a sensible fix. The only way to repair is to replace the entire seat ($8000). This is a safety issue that should be under warranty no matter the age of the car. I have found repeated evidence of this occuring often through looking at forums and websites that own this model and year.
My passenger seat weight sensor is malfunctioning going on and off at various times into the drive and various weighted passengers. This seems to be a very common problem on my 2012 G37 sport and the seat (sensor cannot be changed out so have to buy the whole seat) ranges between $5000 and $8000. This seems to me to be a safety issue, what were to happen if any one of us having this issue were to get into an accident with a passenger? from what ive read the passenger air bag will not go off with this light on so therefore my passengers safety is at risk because of a very common issue from infinity. Light goes on and off even sitting stationary.
Around 6am on 4/13/19 me and my family and neighbors were awoken by an explosion in the front end of my vehicle. . We called the fire dept and they ruled it as an electrical problem. . I noticed that all the sensor lights in the dash would blink and the airbag sensor light was going off that evening prior to the incident. . I didnt think much of it. . I was planning on taking it to a mechanic that morning but it caught on fire. . Its a total loss. The fire fighters had to cut the hood open in half to get to the fire in the engine compartment. . Its not fair. . I had just bought that car. . And I loved my infinity. . Luckily I wasnt injured or anyone else. The vehicle was parked in the street. . I need my car for work , school and on a regular basis. Please help me.
Passenger airbag light blinks. Took car to dealer and they said the seat bottom needs replacing as it is an occupancy sensor failure. Cost for part is $6500. 00. Cost to install and reset is $500. That repair is half the value of what it is worth. I called infinitynot under warranty or recall. Have read online that multiple owners of these models are having same issue. I feel that this is a potential safety-related defect in the vehicle.
I also owned a g35 2008 Infiniti with the same problem. . The doors lock and I can not get in or out. The lock actuators fail. The doors can not be opened mechanically or electrically. The doors were locked when I went in the gym for 1/2 hour and when I came out I could not enter the car the doors were loced and would not open. After a while I was able to get the back seat door open. I drove the car home and was unable to get out of the car . All doors locked. The only way out is through the window. This is a huge safety concern,.
Airbag light randomly came one. I went into the dealership they said it was a sensor in my passenger seat and that it would cost 5k to replace. I was shocked. That is a manufactured problem and huge safety issue. I shouldn't have to pay for something like that when I already paid over 30k for the car. Not right.
I hit a bump or a pothole in the road and my driver side airbag deployed. My insurance wouldn't cover the claim as there had been no front or rear impact damage. Ever since my cars battery won't hold a charged and had to be jumped off prior to each use.
The contact owns a 2008 Infiniti G37. While driving various speeds, the air bag warning indicator flickered and the front passenger seat air bag warning indicator illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer (mossy Nissan kearny mesa 8118 clairemont mesa blvd, san diego, CA 92111 (858) 201-6606) where it was diagnosed that there was a failure in the occupant classification system control unit and it needed to be replaced along with the front passenger seat cushion. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact researched online and found NHTSA campaign number: 08v521000 (air bags, electrical system). The manufacturer and dealer confirmed that the vehicle was not included in the recall. The failure mileage was approximately 76,000.
I have had my car serviced twice for unable to crank when I put the key in the ignition,. There is a 30 - 45 second delay before the car crank. I am still experiencing this problem. My car only has 1400 miles on it. Yes, 1, 400 miles.
It started when I was pulling into the parking lot in my office building. With no warning, the car started to accelerate at around 7-8 rpm making a roaring noise heard by many witnesses. This resulted in losing control of the car which then went off the side of the lot into a steep decline where I hit a tree. If it wasn't for that tree there was another 60-70 ft drop into a canyon that I inevitably would have fallen into. You might say, "OH I might've pressed on the acceleration instead of the brakes", but there were skid marks left on the ground that would indicate I was already pressing the brakes to come to a stop, when it suddenly accelerated. In addition, I wouldn't have pressed the brakes that hard, so even if I did accidentally press the acceleration, there would be no way the car would hit 7-8 rpm without virtually flooring it. These are hypothetical situations that I am posing to show that it was not accidental on my part, but a defect within the car. This car posed a life threatening injury that I would like for future car owners to know and to take into account. Please, please, please share this to anyone you know who owns this model car and report to every vehicle institution you guys know of. Thank you.
Tl the contact owns a 2010 Infiniti G37x. While driving various speeds, several warning indicators illuminated and falsely displayed that the key was not in the ignition. In addition, the fuel mileage was reported incorrectly and the vehicle began to sputter. The contact also stated that the trunk opened independently and a warning indicator illuminated, confirming that the trunk was open on more than one occasion. Bennett Infiniti in allentown, pennsylvania was made aware of the failures, but the vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 78,000.

The contact owns a 2008 Infiniti G37. While the vehicle was parked, the front passenger side air bag warning light illuminated. The failure recurred on all occasions while driving the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the air bag sensors failed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 54,360.
On the approx. Date of incident, I started the vehicle in the morning and noticed the air bag light would blink and not turn off. After referencing the manual, I brought the vehicle into an Infiniti dealership to be diagnosed. The diagnosis was that the passenger side airbag sensor had failed and would cost more than $2,700 to replace. I left without replacing the part. I notice this exact item has already been recalled for this exact make/model/year vehicle, but the manufacturer has told me that the recall was not for my specific VIN. This recall should be expanded to include all 2008 Infiniti G37 vehicles.
Both the driver front and passenger front door would not open. The rear doors had no issues. The fob would allow me to lock and unlock, as well, the key in fob worked to lock and unlock, however the doors would not open from the outside or the inside. This contimued from 7am until 3pm with mulitple attempts to open the doors. The front passengar door opened randomly at 2pm but the other did not until around 3pm. The doors worked as normal until 10pm and then again a repeat of the same issue. I have read online100's of issues with various Nissan and Infinitis from years 2008 to 2011 with this same issue, as I was trying to find repairs for this issue. This should have been recalled years ago. This is vary unsafe. If an accident occured we would be out of luck trying to get out of a vehicle that randomly will or will not let you in or out of it. I will be folowing up with the Infiniti /Nissan dealer and make sure this is repaired free of charge.
Tl-the contact owns a 2013 Infiniti G37x. The contact stated while driving 2 mph, the vehicle accelerated independently. As a result the contact lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a fence and the air bags failed to deploy. There was no police report filed. The vehicle was towed to an independent body shop. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate mileage was 1800. Mf.
