2 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2006 Infiniti M45

Failure Date: 04/30/2022

Over the last 6 to 8 months, the 2006 M45 stalls intermittently. Most of the time (7 out of 10) it would stall when I stopped at a light (or a stop sign). The engine would shut off, all the indicator lights would come on, and I would put it in park and re-start, and it would continue to operate fine. The other three times or so, the car would randomly shut down while driving (both times in the city at 30 mph or so), and the same procedure to restart. Midas muffler (3 different locations) did not detect any error codes in any of the occasions, and since it was happening intermittently, they could not duplicate it. In atleast 3 or 4 of the events, I had another passenger in the car who observed it.

3 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2006 Infiniti M45

Failure Date: 04/02/2020

The camshaft position sensor and/or crankshaft position sensor continue to fail even after being replaced with new Infiniti/Nissan oem parts. Almost every time I start the car it will continue to turn over for about 15 seconds then stop. I usually have to go through this process 3 or 4 times and eventually it will start with the slp and vdc lights on, but thats not the scary or dangerous part of it. The dangerous part of this issue is when ive been on the highway with traffic going 70 mph and the engines dies and completely turns off while in the middle lane of a 5 lane highway where I was not able to move over to one shoulder or the other. I came to a complete stop on an urban freeway in the middle lane with traffic traveling at least 70 mph beside me. The highway incidents happened 3 times. The other 2 times I was so paranoid of it happening again that I was in the right lane and just pulled onto the shoulder when the car died. I do not drive on the highway anymore which is a shame because tha''s what that car was made for. Other dangerous incidents were car dying as I was entering intersection on a left turn with on coming traffic approaching, car dying at a red after turning green with traffic approaching from behind, car dying when approaching stopped traffic without power brakes. Those are a few examples. The car has died many more times in situations that were not as dangerous such as a residential street, etc. Again as I stated earlier that all 3 of my cars sensors have been replace with new oem parts but the problem continues to happen. There are many of the same complaint from other people on the internet so this is obviously not a one off problem with just my car. Thank you.

4 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2006 Infiniti M45

Failure Date: 05/15/2019

Tl the contact owns a 2006 Infiniti M45. While driving 40 mph, the the contact attempted to accelerate, the rpms increased, and the vehicle powered down. The failure recurred while driving 10 mph. Whenever the accelerator pedal was depressed, the rpms decreased to zero. The first time the failure occurred the contact attempted to stop the vehicle, but the brakes seized. The contact had to use the emergency brake to stop the vehicle. All the warning indicators illuminated on the instrument panel. The vehicle was taken to Infiniti of elk grove (8586 laguna grove dr, elk grove, CA 95757, (916) 287-8017) where it was repaired per an unknown air bag recall. The mechanics did not repair the engine because the VIN was not included in a recall. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.

5 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2007 Infiniti M45

Failure Date: 03/13/2017

The contact owns a 2007 inifiniti M45. The contact stated that the keyless ignition button failed to start the engine and the fuel gauge failed to display the proper reading. The contact stated that the check engine indicator illuminated. The contact took the vehicle to an auto parts retailer where a diagnostic test was performed related to the engine warning indicator. It was diagnosed that there was a camshaft position sensor failure, a circuit failure, engine signal 1 failure, and manufacturer mode switch circuit failure. The diagnostic test also displayed code numbers related to the engine warning indicator: c1137 and c1130. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 69,000.

6 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2003 Infiniti M45

Failure Date: 07/22/2016

While leaving an entrance ramp to merge onto the interstate, the vehicle suffered a complete and total engine power loss along with its power steering and power braking functions. After this failure, the vehicle would crank but not start, leaving it stranded. There is currently a recall in place for the vehicle's make, model, and model year (recall #03v455000), however I was told by both the dealership and Infiniti that the vehicle was not covered under that recall because the part in question was made by a different manufacturer than what was included under the existing recall. The summary and consequences of this failure align exactly with that of the existing recall. It is evident that the safety hazard exists beyond the scope of the original recall and the purpose of this complaint is to address that deficiency.

7 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2003 Infiniti M45

Failure Date: 02/06/2014

This vehicle randomly will shut down all mechanical systems simultaneously at any speed which creates an extremely dangerous situation, especially around other traffic, which could result in a crash. The car's "service engine soon" light appears, the car immediately loses engine power, brakes, and steering and many times will not restart immediately which puts the passengers at risk of a crash in any situation. These are the exact same symptoms of a recall issued by Infiniti for the 2003 M45, however, Infiniti insists that this vehicle is not included in the recall. I have already changed the crank position sensors. Camshaft position sensor(s), and in some cases, the variable timing control sensor(s).

8 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2003 Infiniti M45

Failure Date: 08/12/2013

I was traveling down I-85 n bound doing about 65 in the middle lane with heavy traffic when the rpm dropped all the way out and the car lost all power as if it cut off leaving me in shock because I had no way of getting over to get off on the shoulder. After taking it to a shop I was told that it was the cam and crankshaft position sensors and that I need to contact Infiniti before paying to have this issue fixed because it was a recall for this issue, so I contact the Infiniti dealer and the lady I spoke with informed me that it has never been a recall for any issue on this car and that since the car was 10 years old that was a possible problem with the car shutting down while operating the vehicle,.

9 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2003 Infiniti M45

Failure Date: 07/12/2013

This vehicle randomly will shut down all mechanical systems simultaneously at any speed which creates an extremely dangerous situation, espcially around other traffic, which could result in a crash. Maybe once someone is killed in a crash Infiniti will reconsider its position on this matter. According to the Infiniti dealer, they do not know the cause of the problem. Their suggestion was to leave the car with them for 2 or 3 days so they could hook up equipment to the car and drive it around (at $130 per hour) hoping that the problem would occur. Both the dealer and Infiniti USA seem unwilling to investigate this problem without costing me hundreds or even thousands of dollars to fund their research in an effort to prevent a crash. Here is the description of the symtoms caused by the recall: this could cause the "service engine soon" warning light to come on, create a no start condition, cause reduced engine power, or cause the engine to stop running without warning during vehicle operation, which could result in a crash.

10 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2006 Infiniti M45

Failure Date: 02/05/2013

I was driving the car when it completely lost power.

11 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2006 Infiniti M45

Failure Date: 12/26/2012

The engine has failed despite frequent oil changes. The mechanic states there is a "rod knock", which is the connection from the piston to the crankshaft. There is clearly a defect with this engine.

Failure Date: 06/25/2012

The contact owns a 2004 Infiniti M45. The contact stated that the oil indicator lamp failed to illuminate, indicating that the oil level was low. As a result, the engine seized.
